Chapter 193 - 193 Equipment That Repairs Itself!

Wade's surgery was a complete success.

After Kagura and Maya adjusted the baseline parameters of the Extremis Virus 2.0 repair program, Deadpool returned to his usual flamboyant self.

His disfigurement and terminal illness? Completely gone.

Watching Wade bounce away with boundless energy, Kagura let out a long sigh of relief.

"Ah, finally helped Wade fulfill one of his biggest wishes. Now, if only he'd stop bothering me..."

"He seems to like you quite a bit, Miss Kagura."

Maya teased from the side. "Have you considered giving him a chance? He's got a great physique, his face is handsome now that he's healed, and his personality is... well, let's just say he has an abundance of charm."

"Oh, since you like him so much, Hansen, I'll gladly let you have him!"

Kagura playfully patted Maya Hansen on the shoulder. "You're not getting any younger, y'know. Might be time to find a good man to settle down with. Wait too long, and you might miss your chance!"

"Hmph! My ideal man is someone like Tony Stark!"

Maya crossed her arms with a confident smirk. "Wade? Broke and uncultured? Not my type at all!"

"Oh? But that's not what you were saying a moment ago~"

Kagura stuck out her tongue. "People like you—who say one thing but secretly feel another—always end up eating their words!"

"Tch, you should worry more about yourself, dear Miss Kagura."

Maya chuckled. "Anyway, now that this is settled, I need to get back to work. If we want to push Extremis into the medical field for civilian use, there's still a lot of research to be done."

"Got it. Good luck!" Kagura Hitomi waved her off. "I'm heading home now."

Manhattan, New York

Once she arrived home, Kagura did something unusual—rather than flopping onto the couch to game, she made a beeline for her underground lab.

There, alongside Cortana, she began researching how to integrate the Extremis Virus with inorganic equipment.

Extremis wasn't just about healing organic beings. The reason why Kagura had sought it out in the first place to give Rhodes Island's gear self-repair capabilities.

Of course, applying a biological repair mechanism to lifeless machinery, electronics, and weapons required deep-level modifications.

But the mere thought of Rhodes Island's equipment being able to repair itself thrilled Kagura —like getting a permanent exemption from all schoolwork!

Tony Stark once said that one of his greatest skills was fixing things—whether it was his Iron Man suits, himself, or even Pepper Potts' Extremis-related issues in the original MCU timeline.

Maybe fixing stuff gave Stark a strange kind of satisfaction. Kagura, on the other hand? She hated dealing with broken equipment.

Over the years, countless damaged devices had been sent back to Rhodes Island's factories for maintenance, draining resources, manpower, and funds.

Limited resources should be invested where they matter most—like innovating new tech.

Whenever customers sent in broken gear for repairs, Kagura's usual response was:

"Why not just buy a new one? There's a newer model out anyway."

But not everyone had Tony Stark's wealth or Wakanda's bottomless treasury. After-sales service and maintenance were unavoidable responsibilities for Rhodes Island.

Now, though, everything was different.

With the Extremis Virus in her hands, Kagura felt like she held the key to the future!

She wasted no time and dove into research.

Sitting in her chair, she waved her hand, activating the surrounding holographic displays. "Cortana, do we have the feasibility analysis for using the Extremis Virus to repair equipment?"

While Kagura had been operating on Wade, Cortana had already been running extensive simulations on Extremis 2.0.

Unlike its medical applications, applying Extremis to weapons and machinery had no connection to Rhine Life, meaning Maya wouldn't be helping this time.

"Master, the preliminary results are in," Cortana reported. "Since the Extremis Virus was originally designed for biological repair, applying it to inorganic equipment requires restructuring the materials at the molecular level."

"So, you're saying we'd need to build weapons, shields, guns, drones—everything—using a silicon-based DNA-like structure?"

"Precisely. The initial silicon-based DNA structure has been developed, but producing the same model of equipment this way will increase costs by five to nine times."

"Pfft—!" Kagura nearly spat blood. "Five to nine times the cost?! What's the point, then? We'd go bankrupt!"

"That is the challenge, Master."

Cortana seemed unfazed by Kagura's reaction. "For self-repairing equipment, material reconstruction is necessary. Given our current technology, the cost increase is inevitable."

"Hmm..." Kagura rested her chin on her hand. "So, while it's possible to make self-repairing gear, the costs are too ridiculous for it to be commercially viable, right?"

"As sharp as always, Master."

"That's a big problem..."

She pondered for a moment, then snapped her fingers. "Let's change our approach. What if we combine the Extremis Virus' abilities with dark energy? Could we repair equipment using pure energy instead—like how my body regenerates?"

"Firstly, I have never examined the internal structure of your body, Master," Cortana quipped. "That said, your idea is intriguing. It's worth testing. However, dark energy research is still in its infancy. Achieving rapid matter-energy conversion will take time."

"No worries. That's our new research direction. Take it step by step. As for the molecular-level self-repairing equipment, manufacture a limited batch and distribute it to Griffin members only."

While the technology wasn't viable for mass production, equipping Griffin's elite operatives with self-repairing gear was a logical and strategic decision.

"Command confirmed, Master."

"Great! Finally, I won't have to fix Natasha's motorcycle anymore!"

Kagura then opened another holographic window. "Now that we have the repair tech from Extremis, we should be able to start manufacturing that based on DNA structures, right?"

"Are you referring to that, Master?"

"Exactly."

Her eyes locked onto a top-secret file displayed in the hologram.

On its cover was a single word—

YoRHa.
