Chapter: 43
*****
Liam's POV:
Silence stretched between us, thick and suffocating.
I stood frozen, trying to process his words, but they sat like lead in my stomach, too heavy to digest. He wasn't joking—not even a little. Every syllable felt deliberate, every revelation calculated. Another realm was looking for me?
I had a million questions, each one sharper than the last. And while I was certain Zeke would answer—at least some of them—I knew him too well. He wouldn't make this easy.
Still, I had to try.
"Who's looking for me, Zeke?" My voice came out steadier than I expected, but the tension in my chest remained.
His sharp gaze met mine, unwavering. "What makes you think I'll tell you?" His tone was cold, edged with something darker. "You're not even the least bit interested in leaving? All I've been doing is protecting you."
I knew that tone. He was angry.
