I gazed at her features. She hadn't changed, not even a bit, and I was surprised by that. In fact, surprise was an understatement.
Just like humans, witches have the shortest lifespan. They live about 150 to 300 years, and even reaching 300 demands the aid of powerful magic. Werewolves, on the other hand, outlive them, their lives spanning between 500 and 800 years. But we, the vampires, are what they call immortal. Well, unless we're killed.
Still, something about her was off.
Queen Seraphina, the queen of the coven — stood before me, and her face... it was exactly the same as I remembered. Not a wrinkle marred her skin, not even a hint of age. Anyone would have mistaken her for a twenty-year-old girl, or, given her mature poise, perhaps guessed she was thirty-six.
But that was laughable.
She was nothing less than over three centuries old, and yet there she was, looking perfect.
