The point of it all was to trigger him into doing whatever it is that he was doing at this very moment—to show his true colors, who he is at this very moment—and that was it, he did.
Just like earlier, I watched every one of his moves, dodging them off before the knife could get to me.
At that very moment, a smell filled the room. It was familiar, yet disgusting; it was a sulfurous rot, a mixture of rotten meat, sulfur, and decay, like the fetid air of a long-abandoned graveyard. It seeped into the surroundings, making it hard for me to breathe, like the air itself was infected with malevolence.
I gazed up, staring back at him as I moved a step closer, confirming where the smell was coming from exactly. At that point, the realization hit me—it wasn't just coming from anywhere, but from him. The odd stench was radiating from him.
