While the group of Spider-People were gathered around the clue wall, discussing their next course of action—
"Ugh!"
"Ah!"
"Not again!"
Suddenly, Noir Spider-Man, Peni, and Spider-Ham collapsed, their bodies convulsing in pain as multicolored flashes flickered across them.
"Kill them."
With Kingpin's command, his subordinates surged forward like a tidal wave, their battle cries echoing through the air.
Determined to eliminate every possible threat, he had brought all of his men this time.
"This is going to be a tough fight."
Noir Spider-Man pulled out his revolver, his gaze cold and unyielding.
A series of gunshots rang out, and the foremost gangsters—armed to the teeth—collapsed with bullet holes in their foreheads.
The rest of the mob hesitated, fear creeping into their ranks.
Unlike the main-universe Spider-Man and other traditional superheroes, Noir Spider-Man did not abide by a strict no-kill rule. His methods were ruthless and decisive, yet his ultimate goal was still to punish evil and uphold justice.
One could say he was the Punisher's version of Spider-Man.
As he suddenly leaped, several energy beams shot past him.
"Lasers?!"
"Never seen them before, huh? Black Spider."
Tombstone sneered as he charged forward. The bullets from Noir Spider-Man's revolver only sparked against his hardened body.
The two engaged in close combat. While Noir Spider-Man could defeat him, the presence of gangsters taking potshots from the sidelines made the situation even more dangerous—he had no desire to test the strength of those lasers firsthand.
Meanwhile, Peni faced off against Scorpion.
"Little girl, are you gonna cry and call for your mommy?"
Scorpion's lower body and left arm were encased in a scorpion-shaped exosuit, equipped with shock bombs, tear gas, and acid-based attacks. The grotesque armor exuded a menacing aura, striking fear in those who dared face him.
But Peni, piloting her SP//dr mech from the year 3145, refused to back down.
"I'll be the one making you cry!"
Scorpion swung his mechanical claw, launching a stream of acid toward her.
Peni deftly maneuvered the SP//dr to dodge, the acid sizzling as it hit the ground, releasing a pungent white smoke.
Wasting no time, she counterattacked. A panel on the mech's arm opened, revealing an energy cannon that fired a bright blue beam directly at Scorpion.
Reacting swiftly, Scorpion used his exosuit's enhanced mobility to retreat, narrowly avoiding the blast that cratered the ground before him.
He retaliated with several concussion bombs, sending ripples of force through the air.
The shockwaves made Peni's mech momentarily unstable, but she quickly regained control.
A fierce battle raged on, with smoke and sparks filling the air.
"A pig? And a cartoon one at that? Spider-People sure are diverse."
Doctor Octopus (Olivia Octavius) watched Spider-Ham with curiosity.
"Got a problem with cartoons?"
"Not at all. I just want to study you!"
Olivia lunged at Spider-Ham, her four mechanical tentacles lashing out menacingly.
Spider-Ham was agile, bouncing left and right, skillfully dodging each attack with remarkable dexterity. His round and plump body seemed unexpectedly nimble, weaving through the onslaught of metal arms.
Taking advantage of a brief opening, Spider-Ham lunged forward and delivered a tiny yet powerful punch straight into Olivia's torso.
However, her mechanical arms countered with a swift strike, sending Spider-Ham flying backward.
Mid-air, he flipped and landed gracefully, pulling out a wooden mallet from behind his back.
"Time to get serious."
Olivia's tentacles lashed out once more. Spider-Ham dodged expertly, running up one of the mechanical limbs before swinging his mallet with all his might—
THWACK!
A loud, comedic bonk echoed as stars spun around Olivia's head, her consciousness momentarily rattled.
Her tentacles wavered, the once-relentless assault halting as they twitched aimlessly.
Spider-Ham smirked triumphantly, spinning his mallet before charging in again, delivering several more decisive hammer blows.
Finally, Olivia slumped to the ground, defeated.
"Still doubting cartoons?"
"What happened to you guys? Are there enemies nearby?"
Gwen scanned her surroundings cautiously, but her Spider-Sense remained silent.
"It's nothing. We don't belong to this timeline, and this world is rejecting us. It just hit us with a strong wave of resistance... but why weren't you two affected?"
Noir Spider-Man had recovered, looking at Gwen and Damian with confusion.
Peni and Spider-Ham also turned their eyes toward them, curiosity evident on their faces.
"I have no idea."
Gwen checked herself over but felt nothing unusual.
Damian, however, rolled up his pant leg to reveal a glowing demonic tattoo.
"Gwen's mom, my godfather's demon mark is glowing."
Gwen removed her glove, revealing a similar mark on her palm, also glowing.
"Whoa, that tattoo looks awesome! Can I see it?" Peni asked, intrigued.
"No."
Damian quickly covered it back up. This was no ordinary tattoo.
"Alright, never mind."
Peni looked disappointed, and even her mech reflected her emotions, displaying a droopy expression on its screen.
Noir Spider-Man glanced at their glowing marks. This isn't the power of science, he thought.
But everyone had their own secrets, and he didn't press further.
"Either way, we need to return to our own worlds as soon as possible. If we stay too long, we'll die—except for you two, apparently."
"I understand. The plan is to find Kingpin, get the key, and destroy the particle collider, right?"
"That's the gist of it. But Kingpin isn't alone. He has an army. We need a strategy."
Before Noir Spider-Man could continue, alarms blared throughout the Spider-base.
The piercing sound shattered the momentary calm. Red warning lights flashed wildly, putting everyone on high alert.
Aunt May pulled up the surveillance feed—
A swarm of enemies surrounded the house.
"Doc Ock, Prowler, Tombstone, Scorpion... they're all here."
And they weren't alone—gangsters armed to the teeth stood beside them.
In the center of the group, two Spider-People were held captive.
One was a masked kid in a cheap Spider-Man suit.
The other was in long underwear.
Both were bound in thick rope, unable to move.
Doctor Octopus smirked at the security camera.
"I know you're in there. If you don't want these two to die, come out now."
"Well, looks like we don't need to go looking for Kingpin—he came to us. Get ready to fight."
"Let's smash them all!"
"SP//dr, deploy!"
"Damian, you and Aunt May stay here."
Gwen rushed into the elevator, the doors closing swiftly behind her.
Inside a car, Kingpin watched as an array of Spider-People emerged from the base, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
Because now, he was certain—the particle collider had successfully connected to the multiverse.
Soon, he would see his wife and daughter again.
But first, he had to eliminate these pesky Spider-People.
