The moment Rus saw her, he couldn't help but chuckle.
Lux was bundled in a thick, pale yellow woolen coat, soft cotton padding lining the collar and cuffs. Her ears were wrapped in a fluffy earmuff cap, and slung across her body was a slightly overstuffed leather shoulder bag—strapped diagonally from right shoulder to left hip—making her look like a modest, walking gift box.
Removing her earmuffs, Lux's eyes landed directly on the desk. "Why are you only eating dinner now?"
"I lost track of time—busy day," Rus said, standing with a smile. He glanced behind her. "Petty, clear the table."
"No need," Lux replied sternly. "You're about to head for the Bloody Highlands. You can't afford to skip proper meals."
With that, she seated herself on a nearby chair. Her hands were neatly folded on her lap, posture proper, but her legs swayed gently beneath her—lost in her thoughts.
Rus's attention was quickly drawn to her dainty, rounded leather shoes.
