I trailed behind Evelyn as she led me into the forest. It was filled with massive talking trees, but unlike the ones I was used to, these bastards weren't friendly.
Every few steps, one of them would casually trip me with its roots or branches, then burst into deep, villainous laughter like they'd just pulled off the prank of the century. Meanwhile, they were all "Yes, ma'am" and "Right this way, Lady Evelyn" to her. Absolute tree-huggers.
After what felt like an eternity of dodging root attacks, we finally reached a massive cliff. One look down, and my stomach did a backflip.
"A beautiful view, wouldn't you agree, human?" Evelyn smirked.
I forced out a nervous chuckle. "Depends on your definition of beautiful. Because to me, that looks like a one-way ticket to the afterlife."
Her grin widened. "Maybe you just need a closer look to appreciate its beauty."
Before I could protest, she blasted me with a blast of magic, sending me falling off the edge.
