Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: War (Part 2)

Nick Fury was under immense pressure, as he now faced a swarm of cloned spiders.

Even though he had injected himself with the Hulk serum, he still found himself struggling against these creatures, often referred to as "Little Hulks."

He could knock one down with a single punch, but at the same time, these cloned spiders managed to leave marks on his body.

"Boom!"

Nick Fury slapped a cloned spider against the wall, flattening it from 3D to 2D.

However, he was also under attack from other cloned spiders. His once unstoppable charge was now being forced back step by step.

Miles had it a little easier. Thanks to his unique Venom Sting ability, he could take down a cloned spider in an instant.

But this ability also placed a significant burden on Miles himself.

At this point, he was already panting heavily.

Clearly, he had yet to fully develop his potential.

"Ever since I gained these spider powers, I've been through so much. But honestly, I'm happy about it. At least this ability lets me help people."

Despite his exhaustion, Miles rushed toward the clones, electricity crackling in his hands as he destroyed the neural implants on their bodies.

"Kid, I gotta say, you're not a bad Spider-Man. But you need training."

Peter Parker chimed in at just the right moment.

"We agree on that. I also think he needs training, but this world isn't giving anyone the chance to train."

Jessica spoke as she slammed another cloned spider into the ground.

She had said before that Miles needed practice, but the world was changing too fast.

Even if they wanted him to receive systematic and professional training, there was simply no time.

Suddenly, a dark figure streaked past everyone's line of sight. Bruce swiftly dodged with a roll, narrowly avoiding the figure.

With a heavy crash, the figure landed on the ground.

Only then did everyone realize—it was Nick Fury, who had been holding off the cloned spiders.

He had been thrown by them into the passage behind the group.

"I have to admit, these guys really are exceptionally stable super soldiers."

Nick Fury struggled to his feet. Even with a Hulk-like physique, he had accumulated quite a few injuries.

"You better wrap this up quickly—I don't think I can hold out much longer."

Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Fury turned to Bruce.

Bruce simply nodded at him without saying a word, focused on his task.

Seeing Bruce's nod, Nick Fury charged back to his position.

His job was to keep those creatures at bay—to at least give the Spider-Men a bit of breathing room and buy the Bat more time to resolve the situation.

Bruce's hands remained steady as he input commands into his gauntlet's interface.

The chaos around him didn't faze him in the slightest—he was still doing what needed to be done.

He had pinpointed the location where HYDRA was controlling these clones.

His faceplate slid shut once again. Inside his HUD, the display no longer showed his surroundings but the rooftop of the Triskelion.

Sometimes, one had to admit—S.H.I.E.L.D.'s technology was indeed ahead of its time.

Remote-control systems of this caliber…

For Bruce, it was perfect.

Now, all he needed to do was send the Batwing to HYDRA's control base.

The moment the Batwing took off, it broke the sound barrier instantly.

The deafening boom prompted the HYDRA soldiers stationed there to rush outside, trying to figure out what was happening.

Was the U.S. government sending a supersonic jet to handle the situation?

But by the time they got outside, all that remained was a rapidly dispersing sonic boom cloud in the sky. There was no sign of anything else.

The man disguised as General Ross immediately realized something was wrong. He quickly pulled out his communicator to warn the others.

"Watch for aerial threats. I suspect a supersonic jet is heading your way. It could be a beyond-visual-range strike—stay alert!"

One had to admit—perhaps because they all shared the same ideology—none of them slacked off.

The base responded almost instantly. They had already set all radars to maximum alert.

Not to mention a standard supersonic fighter—even the U.S. government's latest F-35 wouldn't stand a chance against them.

Upon receiving the warning, HYDRA's forces at the rear immediately went into full combat readiness.

All anti-air defenses were primed and ready, prepared to unleash a devastating counterstrike on whatever dared approach.

"Everyone, stay sharp! If anything even remotely suspicious appears, shoot it down!"

The commander stationed at the rear spoke sternly to the Hydra soldiers monitoring the radar.

The Hydra soldiers dared not respond to their superior, as all their focus was locked onto the radar interface.

If they missed a suspicious target just because they were replying, they would surely want to slap themselves in regret.

"This world will ultimately belong to Hydra!"

The commander fixed his gaze on the large screen, watching the soldiers operating the Spider Clones.

He firmly believed that as long as they had a stable source of these super soldiers, it was only a matter of time before they could completely overthrow America.

Hydra indeed possessed the most cutting-edge radar and detection technology currently available to them.

However, when facing Bruce, who had access to both S.H.I.E.L.D. technology and the advanced systems of the Bats, all of their equipment was rendered utterly useless.

Within the display of Bruce's helmet, Hydra's rear base had been completely revealed to him.

On Hydra's air defense radar, a tiny blip had flickered briefly before disappearing.

Even the Hydra soldier, who had been staring at the radar screen the entire time, couldn't determine whether it was just his imagination or if the radar had actually detected something.

But right now, no Hydra soldier would dismiss such an event as a mere illusion—what if it really was an enemy supersonic aircraft?

When the Hydra soldier reported this to the commander, the commander immediately issued an order for all air defense weapons to aim at the sky.

But that was not all—he ordered the anti-aircraft guns to create an interwoven web of firepower in the sky, determined to take down even an invisible supersonic jet.

If that jet tried to breach their airspace, he would ensure it was shot down.

For Bruce, he had no intention of escalating the casualties further. Instead, he began scanning for the locations of the neural-linked controllers.

He successfully located them, but the battlefield around him was far from favorable.

Nick Fury was once again sent flying by the Spider Clones. The effects of the serum in his body were wearing off, and now he could only lie on the ground, waiting for his wounds to heal quickly. If the serum's effects faded before that, the injuries he sustained could very well be fatal.

He knew that even if he fully recovered from his severe injuries, given the current situation, he was still doomed. But at the very least, he could lessen his suffering.

Three Spider-Men, along with Mary Jane, whom Miles had nicknamed "Power Woman," were barely holding back the relentless onslaught of Spider Clones.

However, they had no way of stopping these crazed enemies.

At that moment, a Spider Clone broke through the defensive line in front of Bruce, just about to make contact with him.

But Bruce had already deployed his Batwing, launching two large-scale EMPs toward Hydra's rear base.

At the same time, this action fully exposed the Batwing to Hydra's anti-air firepower. Anti-aircraft cannons and missiles rained down on it as if they were limitless.

The EMPs detonated successfully, but the Batwing was also destroyed.

As the battle raged on, Spider-Man and Mary Jane suddenly noticed something unusual—the Spider Clones in front of them began convulsing uncontrollably.

Then, they collapsed.

The clone that had been about to punch Bruce in the head fell straight to the ground, unable to rise.

"Looks like our Bat did it." Jessica let out a sigh of relief as she watched the incapacitated Spider Clones. She leaned against the wall and slowly sat down.

Peter Parker and Mary Jane supported each other.

This battle had left them all utterly exhausted. Miles didn't even care anymore—he simply collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath.

Bruce's fully enclosed helmet slowly opened, revealing his face.

"We did it, right?" Peter Parker asked, looking at Bruce, who had just stood up, with a smile.

"Not yet."

Bruce's words made Peter's smile fade instantly—he had no desire to go through another fight this intense.

"The garrison outside Three Flys Base probably isn't the American military but Hydra's forces. If we just walk out like this, we'll likely face heavy firepower."

"No worries. Heavy firepower? S.H.I.E.L.D. has plenty of that." Nick Fury stood up.
