Carlos stood tall, his dark eyes locked onto Peter's with an unyielding intensity. To Kiera, he appeared like a protective wall between Iris and the world, and especially, from Peter.
"Explain," his stern voice called out.
"Carlos, I'm not a kid anymore."
"Seriously Iris, what are you doing?" Carlos asked but before he could speak further she cut in.
"What does it look like I am doing? I am hanging out," she retorted.
"Hanging out? With whom, Iris?"
"You always have to play the saviour, don't you?" Iris's voice held a touch of annoyance as she interjected.
"I can handle myself! ! do not need pampering from home like you usually do, Carlos. Let it rest."
Carlos scrunched his brows and responded with a stern voice, "You can't just follow strangers, Iris." Before Iris could retort, Peter, oozing confidence, pulled out his driver's license and flaunted it in front of Carlos.
"There you go. Not a stranger anymore, am I?" he chuckled and extended his hand.
