"Move!" I barked, already pulling Felix by the collar.
"But—"
"Don't argue!" I snapped. "Run!"
We bolted.
The ground trembled beneath us, each pulse growing stronger. Whatever was behind that illusion wasn't fooled for long.
The alpha was coming.
Garrick surged ahead, his long strides carrying him like a damn battering ram. Cassandra moved with eerie grace, her footsteps barely making a sound.
And Felix?
Well, Felix was doing his best not to trip over his own feet.
"Faster!" I growled, keeping a tight grip on his collar to keep him from face-planting.
"Professor!" Garrick's voice was sharp.
I looked up—
Shit.
A ridge.
Steep.
"Down!" I barked.
Garrick didn't hesitate.
He dove, sliding down the slope like a damn avalanche.
Cassandra followed, her movements smooth and controlled.
"Felix!"
"I can't—"
I didn't wait.
I shoved him forward.
"AHHH!"
Felix tumbled down the slope, arms flailing, his screams echoing through the forest.
