They sat together in silence, the wind rising and falling around them like the slow breath of the sky.
"Alright," she said suddenly, setting the glass down on the small table beside the couch. "Let's stop wasting time."
Without ceremony, she stepped away from the couch and out into the open space of the rooftop.
Two floating discs of translucent ether, each about the size of a large shield, appeared under her feet.
They pulsed softly, holding her in the air a foot above the ground.
"These discs are adjusted based on motion, pressure, and weight distribution."
"This is dynamic footing. Movement. Elevation. Terrain control. Mid-air redirection. Momentum management. All without touching the ground."
She rose slightly higher into the air "You start with two discs. Always two. Any more and you'll lose control... your brain can't process balance in three vectors until you're more advanced. But two? That's manageable."
