Chapter 13 - Stronger and Stronger

Nathan ran towards the training grounds. This was his favorite part. Magic. Like the novels he has seem in books he wanted to control things he'll never imagine he'll be able to do.The fusion of Nova and Threadstone had changed everything. He was felt faster, stronger, and sharper than ever before, but he knew he had only scratched the surface of his potential.

Jynn leaned against a nearby rock, watching him with an stern expression. "You're improving fast," he admitted. "But brute strength and a few flashy moves won't cut it against real threats."

Nathan clenched his fists. He knew Jynn was right. He had barely begun to understand the depth of his new power. He needed more.

Jynn flicked his wrist, and a dozen golden threads materialized around him. "Today's focus is control," he said. "You've fused Nova with Threadstone, but you haven't mastered it. Right now, you're swinging a warhammer with no control. I'm going to teach you how to mold it into a weapon."

Nathan smirked. "Sounds interesting."

Jynn grinned. "Oh it will be.."

He snapped his fingers.

The ground beneath Nathan trembled as dozens of stone pillars erupted from the earth, forming an ever-shifting battlefield. The sky darkened, and spectral figures—humanoid warriors with glowing weapons—emerged from the shadows.

Nathan's grin widened. "Now we're talking."

Nathan breathed in and concentrated.

Nathan's Nova flared, surrounding his body like a golden flame. The first spectral warrior lunged at him with a sword of pure energy. Nathan sidestepped, but before he could counter, another figure slashed at his back.

He ducked, rolling out of the way just in time to see a third enemy strike from above.

Too slow.

The blade slashed across his arm, but instead of pain, Nathan felt his Nova react—his energy surged outward, instinctively repairing the wound in an instant.

Jynn watched closely. "Good. Your body is adapting. But adaptation isn't enough. You need to command it."

Nathan exhaled, steadying his stance. He reached inward, focusing on the flow of Nova. It wasn't just raw strength—it was his life force, his will. He had been using it instinctively, but if he could direct it with intent…

The next warrior charged.

This time, Nathan didn't just dodge. He focused his Nova into his hands, shaping it into an invisible shield. The sword clashed against his palm, but instead of cutting through, it bounced off.

Nathan's eyes widened. "I just—"

"Blocked it," Jynn finished. "By controlling Nova externally. That's step one."

Nathan grinned. "Then let's move to step two."

He turned, slamming his fist into another warrior. But this time, he controlled the release. Instead of an explosion, his energy flowed through his arm in a focused pulse—like a shockwave instead of a detonation.

The warrior disintegrated.

Jynn nodded. "Now you're getting it."

For hours, Nathan trained, refining his control. His attacks became sharper, his defenses more fluid. His Nova no longer flared wildly—it bent to his will.

And with that mastery, something within him shifted.

A notification flashed before his eyes.

New Ability Unlocked: Nova Mastery- Fully command your Basic Nova energy with precision and efficiency. Strength, speed, and defense can be adjusted at will.

Nathan exhaled. "Finally."

But as the words faded, another surge of energy coursed through him. His head pulsed.

Something new was awakening. His book flew towards him at great speeds. New lines appeared:

Great Beginning

Jynn raised an eyebrow as Nathan staggered back, gripping his chest. The world around him shimmered, golden threads flickering into existence.

Nathan saw them clearly now—connections between everything. The fabric of reality itself.

And for the first time, he understood how to pull them.

The knowledge flowed into his mind like an unstoppable tide.

New Threadstone Ability: Fateweaver- Manipulate the flow of fate itself. Slow down or accelerate actions.

Nathan gasped as time seemed to slow. Jynn's movements became sluggish, the leaves drifting through the air like they were submerged in water.

With a simple thought, he released his grip on fate, and everything snapped back to normal.

Jynn frowned. "What the hell did you just do?"

Nathan smirked. "I don't know."

Jynn blinked. "Well… that's terrifying."

But before Nathan could respond, another surge of energy shot through him.

New Threadstone Ability: Phantom Step- Instantly traverse short distances by shifting through the fabric of reality.

Nathan's body blurred—one moment, he stood in front of Jynn, the next, he reappeared twenty feet away.

Jynn whistled. "Alright, now that's just cheating."

Nathan chuckled. "Feels like it."

Then, the final ability struck like lightning through his veins.

New Threadstone Ability: Echo Remnant- Create afterimages of yourself that retain partial consciousness and can act independently for a short duration.

Nathan focused, and suddenly, a second version of himself appeared beside him. It grinned, cracked its knuckles, and said, "Damn, I look good."

Now both Jynn's eyebrows were raised. "Oh, that seems nice."

Nathan laughed. This was power.

But his awakening wasn't over yet.

The Awakening of Magic

The ground beneath him glowed as ancient symbols carved themselves into the earth. A massive surge of energy—different from Nova, different from Threadstone—welled up inside him.

Jynn stepped back. "Oh… now this is interesting."

Nathan barely had time to react before his body was flooded with knowledge, the understanding of elemental forces embedding itself into his mind.

Magic.

True magic.

New Powers Unlocked: Basic Elemental Magic- Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Light, Dark.

Nathan lifted his hand, and a flicker of flame burst to life in his palm. He clenched his fingers, and the fire snuffed out, replaced by a swirling orb of water.

Wind howled around him. The ground trembled beneath his feet. Shadows twisted unnaturally in response to his call, while a brilliant light shone from his fingertips.

Jynn ran a hand through his hair. "Okay, this is getting ridiculous. First, you master Nova. Then you unlock three insane Threadstone abilities. And now you're a mage? You do realize most people spend decades learning just one of these things?"

Nathan grinned. "Guess I'm built different."

Jynn groaned. "You're a monster."

Nathan closed his eyes, feeling the immense power coursing through him. Nova, Threadstone, Magic. Three different forces—each one bending to his command.

A year ago, he had barely survived Garrick's training.

Now?

He was something else entirely.

And the world was about to find out just what he could do.

"Hey, you think you're done? You still have one more trail left. And its me." Jynn said with a smirk.

Wait you?
