Chapter 18 - Jumping this far looks like dying. 2

He twitched his legs as if he was about to jump but he held it back. He bounced up and down again, shuddering his shoulder like a wrestler.

With a deep breath, he sprang upward as if he was about soaring in the air like an eagle, only to find himself landing awkwardly, back to the cave floor. His legs were literally splayed like that of a frog.

In all honesty, he wasn't ready to do this. He turned backwards, stealing a glance at the girl who was just there staring at him. Obviously not pleased at all with his gimmicks that he was playing.

He smiled weirdly at her but she didn't respond. Her expression still remained unreadable, hidden behind that hijab. She was obviously pissed again as Jake was taking hundreds of years to make an attempt of jumping–a real jumping.

Jake's creepy smile faltered at the thought; he damn knew he was the one stalling now.

Meanwhile, the girl felt like watering Jake cheeks with some dirty slaps. Perhaps, it would recap in his brain that they were breaking out of a prison and they were literally playing humpty dumpty game here.

Jake at the other hand turned his gaze from hers. From the way she was staring, he could tell that she was damn pissed. It was so scary and her gaze didn't waver at all, her eyes just kept boring into him with an unspoken message as if to say: damnit! Get on with it, Jake!

He looked downwards to the ground and it felt like the distance from were he was to the floor just grew longer by hundred feet. From nowhere, he suddenly felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead.

'Oh fuck!! This is madness Jake. What if you jump and crashed into a rock and died?'

'Wait! Why the hell are you jumping first? It should be her first.' Jake thought, her face rotating backwards at the girl like a robot. 'How are you so sure that if you jump, she'll follow?"

Damn! He almost acted like a clown. How the hell was he so sure that she would follow up with the jump if he does it first? And it wasn't as if probabilities of safety was guaranteed.

"There you go again with those silly stares. Wait, is it my hijab? My voice? What?" she snapped, her hands fluttering in frustration as she turned around. "Look dude, you really need to stop peering your eyes on people like that. It's weird honestly."

"You know what's weird?" Jake countered, as he managed to find his voice at her. He shifted closer, moving away from the cliff. "It's how you think you can just tell me to jump off a cliff without trying it yourself first."

"What?"

"Yes, you heard me well. I mean, how the hell do you expect me to trust that you'll do the same if I jump down? Huh?" Jake said, pacing around the tunnel. He scratched his hair roughly, flashing his eyes on the trees again, pointing at them. "You and I knows that no human will survive such a jump. You fucking know that."

"Fuck." she slammed her face clouded with the hidjab in frustration. She turned around, facing him. Her face was probably boiling with anger by now. "You know what, I'll just do it myself."

Jake eyes widen as he saw her thrusting her feets towards him, her face was like that of a tigress. And she seems to get pissed easily.

Jake could vividly remember and re-quotes all the statement that he just uttered now. And he could bet on his father's beard that he didn't add an insult to it. So why the hell was she so mad at him? It was just a simple conversation.

Before Jake could realize it. She was there. Closed to him. She deck her hands on Jake grown, grabbing him like he was a kid. Well, he was actually one.

She pinned him to the wall. Which got Jake eyes widen the more. Shit! He never expected the girl would have such strength to pin him to the walls. It was so unbelievable.

"I'm only going to say this once more, Jake," she growled, almost in a whisper. She drew down her masks hidjab, revealing only her lips.

Her lips were pretty and pinkish. She must be damn pretty. However, her voice was still hint with seriousness and sacarms at the same time. Jake was damn surprised at the level of confidence in her.

"Get the fuck in there and jump. Don't make me do it for you." Jake could read her lips as she commanded. Although, she was looking so mad at him.

Her words were laced with a venom that made Jake's skin crawl. He couldn't see her face though, but he could swear that her expression was twisted in a scowl manner and her eyes was literally blazing with fury, just like 'the angry birds.'

The air seemed to vibrate with tension as she drew closer to him, still grabbing his grown. But something went off. Her posture. The way she grabbed him loosen a bit. Though her hands were still glue to his grown. Plus her pink lips almost seems to be touching his. A silly thought suddenly whined on jake: kiss her dude!

Nope, damn! That would be awkward.

His heart skipped a beat as he felt her breath on the back of his neck. He was literally feeling her boobs romancing his chest. Somehow, Jake felt his body tickled. It was just like that feeling, that feeling that looks like butterflies are hovering around your tommy. Especially when in love.

Fuck! What was this bitch up to? He swallowed hard, his throat was so dry with fear. They were so many perverted thought swinging around his mind now.

She suddenly released her grip from him, shaking her head as if to say "don't do this shit…. don't." She suddenly became conscious of herself.

'Wait! Was she in lust too? I thought we were about fighting or something?' Jake thought as he found himself stumbled backward, his feet scraping against the ground.

He managed to regained his balance and then approached the cliff's edge once more, his eyes still fixed on the treetops below. But the thought of what almost happened between both of them a moment ago suddenly flushed across his mind. Damn! The devil was literally at work in his mind. Jeez!

The wind rustled through the leaves below, creating a soft whisper that seemed to mock him. He shook off that awkward swirl feeling that was surging through his veins and try to reposition his mind on the jump again. Whatever happened back there was just a silly mistake or some hallucinations.

His mind recoiled at the thought of jumping again, but it was just so impossible. For Crissake, this wasn't a stunt in a movie; it was real life. Plus, he was about to leap into the unknown, with no guarantee of survival. Damn!

He glanced back at the girl, who stood watching him with an unnerving intensity. But, her stares this time was a bit different. She seems to be thinking about something or maybe someone–like Jake?

Her silence was more unsettling than her anger now, and Jake felt like he was drowning in her gaze. Well, he turned back to the cliff again, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of hope. But there was none. Just the endless expanse of trees, stretching out like a green. Hope he does survives this jump.
