The town of Eldoria was still asleep, bathed in the soft glow of the rising sun. Yami leaned against the wooden railing of an inn's balcony, watching the quiet streets below.
His mind was anything but quiet.
The voice from that night still echoed in his head. "You are my heir."
The God of Death himself had acknowledged him. But what did that mean? What was waiting for him beyond the power he had already gained?
A soft knock interrupted his thoughts.
"Yami?" Lina's voice came from the other side.
"Come in."
She stepped inside, her expression unusually serious. "You didn't sleep again, did you?"
Yami smirked. "Didn't feel like it."
Lina sighed. "At this rate, you're going to collapse in the middle of a fight."
He waved a hand dismissively. "I'll be fine."
She crossed her arms. "Rei's already downstairs, and we need to figure out our next move. You coming?"
Yami hesitated. Part of him wanted to keep standing there, waiting for something—he didn't even know what. But another part of him knew that standing still wasn't an option.
He pushed himself off the railing. "Yeah. Let's go."
As he followed Lina downstairs, something in the back of his mind whispered a warning.
Something was coming.
And whatever it was, it wasn't going to let him rest.
