Chapter 57 - Luo Bing

After arriving at the police station, the female officer yanked Ye Chen out of the car and led him inside.

It was late at night, but the station still had a number of officers on duty. This was Ye Chen's first time in a police station.

As they entered, one of the guards at the front desk looked up. "Detective Luo Bing, who's the suspect?"

So her name was Luo Bing.

"I caught him speeding and evading police pursuit. I suspect he may be involved in more serious activities," Luo Bing stated firmly.

Ye Chen rolled his eyes. "Really? Just because I didn't stop, I look like some kind of criminal? I'm a good citizen!"

"I didn't ask for your commentary," Luo Bing snapped. "Keep your mouth shut."

The desk officer smirked but said nothing. Everyone at the station knew Luo Bing—capable, beautiful, but extremely tough. Not someone you messed with.

Luo Bing dragged Ye Chen into an interrogation room and cuffed him to a metal chair.

"You stay here. I'll be back soon," she said, then walked out, leaving Ye Chen alone in the room.

Moments later, Chu Yuechan's voice echoed in Ye Chen's mind. "Why don't you just break out? With your strength, it would be easy."

Ye Chen sighed mentally. "Escaping isn't the problem. If I do that, I'll just be labeled a fugitive. The whole city's police force would be after me. That's more trouble than it's worth."

"Fair enough. But that woman—Luo Bing—she has potential. Her talent is quite rare for someone on Earth. She lacks proper guidance, though."

Ye Chen raised an eyebrow. "So she's got real talent? That explains why her cultivation is so advanced for her age."

Time passed. Ten minutes turned into twenty before the door finally opened again. Luo Bing entered, now wearing her full police uniform. Her tight skirt and fitted shirt gave her a commanding—but undeniably alluring—appearance.

She sat down across from Ye Chen and crossed her legs. "Name?"

"Ye Chen."

"Gender?"

Ye Chen gave her a blank look. "Do I really need to answer that? You can see I'm a guy."

Luo Bing gave him a mocking look. "With a face like that, you could pass as a pretty girl."

Ye Chen muttered under his breath and looked away, already regretting this conversation.

"Age?"

"Seventeen," Ye Chen lied, dropping his age slightly.

"You're still in school?" Luo Bing raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical.

She looked down at her clipboard. "Last question—why did you flee when the police signaled you to pull over?"

"I didn't feel like I'd done anything wrong," Ye Chen said casually.

BANG!

Luo Bing slammed her palms down on the table, making it shake violently. "You broke traffic laws and endangered lives! Don't act innocent!"

Her anger surged, and her chest rose and fell rapidly. Ye Chen noticed. She might be fierce, but she's got some curves.

"If you're really just a student," she continued, calming slightly, "then I need to contact your parents or guardian. Someone has to take responsibility for you. Otherwise, you're staying here overnight."

Ye Chen frowned. He didn't have family in the city. He definitely couldn't call Lin Rouxi—she'd scold him for sure.

There was only one person he could think of: Liu Yue.

Ye Chen pulled out his phone and made the call. Thankfully, Liu Yue picked up.

"Ye Chen? Calling me this late?" she asked, surprised.

"I ran into a bit of trouble with a cop named Luo Bing. Think you could come to the station and help clear things up?" Ye Chen asked.

Without hesitation, Liu Yue replied, "I'm on my way."

While waiting, Ye Chen glanced at Luo Bing. Her uniform fit snugly, emphasizing her curves. His eyes lingered—especially on her chest.

Luo Bing immediately noticed. "Keep staring and I'll gouge your eyes out."

Ye Chen chuckled. Feisty.

He decided to test something. Activating his King's Heart Charm, Ye Chen focused his gaze on her.

Luo Bing met his eyes—and immediately felt something strange. Her heart pounded, and her face flushed. She looked away quickly, cheeks glowing red.

Interesting, Ye Chen thought. It works on her.

He stood, even with one hand cuffed to the chair, and stepped closer. He gently lifted her chin and whispered, "You're beautiful."

Luo Bing's eyes widened. His voice, his expression—it made her feel dizzy.

She leaned forward instinctively, lips only centimeters away from his.

Click.

The sound of the door opening snapped her out of it.

Another female officer stepped in—and froze, jaw dropping as she took in the scene.

She blinked in disbelief. Is Luo Bing, the station's coldest officer... about to be kissed by a detainee?!

But then the newcomer caught sight of Ye Chen's face.

In that instant, she too was mesmerized.

He's... too handsome, she thought. No wonder even Luo Bing didn't resist him.

Luo Bing quickly stepped back, flustered. "Ahem! Why are you barging in?"

The officer snapped to attention. "S-Sorry! A woman named Liu Yue is here. She says she's here to release the detainee."

"Send her in," Luo Bing said, trying to compose herself.

The young officer glanced longingly at Ye Chen before stepping out. Luo Bing, meanwhile, didn't dare look him in the eye again.
