"Let him in," Ashley said, her voice firm.
Claire gave a curt nod and left, surprised that Ashley wanted to see Vincent Broom after everything that had happened. But, on second thought, she figured Ashley might be tired of Vincent's persistent visits and simply wanted to find out what he was after. The old man had been frequenting the company at least twice a week since the crisis was resolved.
A moment later, Vincent walked into Ashley's office with forced confidence, his steps measured. His heart skipped a beat when Ashley slowly lifted her gaze from the paperwork on her desk and locked eyes with him.
"Mister Vincent," she called smoothly, a brief thin smile crossing her lips. "Please, have a seat."
"Thank you for finally agreeing to see me, Ms. Flynn," Vincent said as he sat.
Ashley jotted something on a piece of paper before returning her gaze to him. She noted his stiff posture—an indication of nervousness.
It gave her a strange sense of power.
