Sienna's POV
"Kieran!" I screamed again, watching in fear as the darkness wrapped around him like a second skin.
The Blood Moon was rising now, painting everything in red light. I could feel its pull on my powers, making the Ruby Wolf inside me antsy and hungry.
Kieran—or whatever was now directing him—smiled with teeth that were too sharp, too many.
"The Blood Moon ritual has begun," he said in that terrible double voice. "Choose your mate, Ruby Wolf. It is your destiny."
I stepped back, my mind racing. The prophecy said I had to choose a mate during the Blood Moon or my powers would consume me. But Ronan had just told the truth—the prophecy was about sacrifice, not bonding.
"You're lying," I said, trying to buy time. "The real Kieran would never hurt me."
The thing wearing Kieran's body laughed. "Are you so sure? His curse was always meant for this moment. To bind with a Ruby Wolf during the Blood Moon and complete the sacrifice."
