Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Is He Your Son?

Now that Mommy is back, it's quite normal to go meet her.

After all, they haven't seen each other for so long; there must be a lot they want to say to each other.

"Mommy, I want to go too."

By then, with Aunt Shanshan around, Mommy surely won't stop me from having desserts.

The little guy chuckled in his heart but kept a straight face while looking at Ye Xinluo.

Pondering how to get Mommy to buy him sweets.

Ye Xinluo didn't know what the little guy was thinking, just nodded lightly.

The two watched TV at home for a while. When it was about one in the afternoon,

she picked up the little guy and went back to the bedroom.

Changed into something more casual, then grabbed her bag and went out.

The place they lived was a bit far from Z University, so they had to leave early.

The car arrived at Z University early, it was only ten past two, so Ye Xinluo asked the driver to stop at the gate of Z University.

After paying, she carried the little guy out of the car.

She stood at the school gate for a moment, lost in thought.

This was the campus she once dreamed of, where she spent two years.

But now.

Time has passed; things have changed…

Holding Jingxi's hand, she wandered aimlessly on the street, her mind elsewhere.

On the other hand, Jingxi seemed different, as if unaware of Ye Xinluo's mood.

His eyes darted around, looking for a place selling food nearby.

As soon as he spotted something he liked, he memorized the store's name.

Plotting in his mind, but Ye Xinluo was unaware of it.

They walked like that for a long time, until Ye Xinluo lifted her head and glanced around.

Only then did she realize they were across from the café where she arranged to meet Lan Shan.

She simply picked up the little guy, crossed the traffic light, and went straight into the café.

They found a seat by the window.

The little guy sat on a chair beside her, looking at the bustling street outside the window.

The afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, lighting up the little guy's cute face,

his long, curly lashes fluttering like delicate butterfly wings.

Even the waitress who came over to inquire was captivated by the adorable little guy.

She stared at him blankly until her colleague reminded her, then she picked up the menu and walked to Ye Xinluo's table.

"Hello, what would you like to order?"

Ye Xinluo picked up the menu and glanced at it.

"Jingxi, what would you like?"

Not forgetting to ask the little guy for his opinion.

"Mommy, I want milk tea, do they have it?"

He was asking his dear mommy, but his eyes were on the waitress.

Those eyes seemed to be pleading, 'Please, please, I want milk tea!'

Not forgetting to wink at the waitress.

The waitress was so charmed by his cute demeanor that she nodded quickly.

"Yes, we do,"

"Then one milk tea, one Blue Mountain Coffee, one juice,

my friend will come later, serve the coffee when she arrives.

The rest is for now."

After speaking, she looked at the time, two forty-five.

There were still fifteen minutes until their agreed time; Shanshan should be on her way now.

She returned the menu to the waitress, pondering what to say when they meet.

When she used to be with Lan Shan, they often came to this café.

One juice for herself, one Blue Mountain for her, and they could while away an afternoon.

Ye Xinluo remembered teasing her for liking Blue Mountain Coffee.

And she retorted with this line.

'Laugh all you want, who knows, maybe someday I won't resist brewing myself into a drink'

This comment amused her back then, and she laughed at her for quite a while because of it.

Lan Shan once mentioned to her that when her mom was pregnant, she craved Blue Mountain Coffee, hence her name Lan Shan.

Her lips curled into a smile.

The sunlight cascading on Ye Xinluo's face made time feel as if it stood still.

She glanced at the little guy beside her.

She wondered, what expression would Shanshan have when she saw the little guy?

Probably very shocked!

After all, disappearing for nearly four years and coming back with a baby.

Anyone would be stunned, right…

The waitress returned to the counter, whispering with a colleague, occasionally glancing at Ye Xinluo's table.

"Look at that kid, he's so cute!"

"Yeah, who's that next to him? She's so beautiful; it's a pity she isn't in showbiz with those looks."

"I just heard that kid call her mommy."

"What? I thought she was his sister, she only looks like she's in her early twenties!"

"What are you doing?"

The manager walked over, noticing the two chatting during work hours, and scolded them loudly.

The two waitresses quickly hushed and got back to work.

The ordered items quickly arrived at the table: the juice and milk tea.

"Child, this is a cake specially prepared for kids by our shop."

The waitress pushed a cake in front of Jingxi and said.

Looking at the little guy's rosy cheeks, she had the urge to pinch them.

"Thank you, big sister."

"You're welcome."

The waitress smiled with excitement.

The little guy's eyes were fixed on the cake.

He had just been thinking about how to get Mommy to buy him a cake.

He even decided where to buy it.

But he didn't expect…

As soon as he thought about the cake, it appeared. Truly, fortune favors the prepared mind.

This place even has cakes prepared for kids.

Five-star review!

He should come here often with Mommy.

Hehe…

Now, his cake is assured.

Jingxi's mind was busy, but his face showed little change.

"Mommy, can Jingxi eat it?"

Saying this, his gaze remained fixed on the cake on the table.

Ye Xinluo looked at the little guy's action and couldn't help but chuckle.

"Go ahead and eat..."

With his dear mommy's permission, Jingxi immediately picked up a fork and dug into the cake.

At three o'clock sharp, a red sports car stopped at the café entrance.

A woman stepped out in an off-white chiffon dress, with a matching coat.

She wore a pair of eight-centimeter high heels

and her long, curly hair flowed over her shoulders.

Lan Shan stood by the car, glanced at the café, and walked in.

From the moment she got out of the car, Ye Xinluo noticed her.

Four years, not too long, not too short.

Shanshan changed, became prettier, more mature.

Lan Shan walked into the café, looked around, and finally saw Ye Xinluo sitting by the window.

She composed her excited emotions and walked towards Ye Xinluo's seat.

Huh?

Who's the little guy next to Xinluo?

Her gaze fell on the little bun beside Ye Xinluo, her brows furrowing.

She pulled out the chair opposite of Ye Xinluo and sat down.

"You're here!"

Ye Xinluo looked up at the person before her and warmly greeted.

Lan Shan didn't speak, her gaze fixed on Jingxi.

What's the relationship between this little guy and Xinluo?

With this question in mind, she decided to ask.

"Xinluo, who is this?"

"Let me introduce you, this is Ye Jingxi, my son."

It was like something exploded in Lan Shan's mind.

"What did you say? He's your son?"
