Chapter 7 - An Assessment
"How man beasts did you kill in a single day?"
"I takes usually three days for all professions to reach level 1 and by the next week do they only reach level 2."
"Even for a summoner class, their summoned beasts are not that strong. But you... are really odd."
Cecilia kept on murmuring with reasons that Alex already knew he would be questioned with.
One, awakening a Druid class that's associated with 'Abyss' which can easily label him as a traitor.
Two, a skill that gives birth to a scary plant that devours over the flesh of enemies.
Alex didn't add the details of stat plundering or the talent for mana manipulation. If these details
Speaking of mana, Alex was now able to use skills three times compared to before.
"I received a report that there are patches of plants and trees slowly growing on the battlefield. These plants are growing from the withered bones of those dried up corpses." Cecilia gave him a doubtful look.
He just nodded.
"..."
Cecilia kept quiet for a moment and spoke again with a rather disdainful expression.
"Do you know that more than half of the generals have appealed to kill you on the spot?"
"What the f*ck?!" Alex couldn't maintain his composure.
"Exactly! The old foxes think that there's an Abyssal beast's blood flowing in your veins, and you were smuggled in our settlement to stab us in the back."
"One of them even said that you have a tail, which is totally bullshit!!" She slammed the table with her hands.
"Are they crazy?! If I had a tail, then wouldn't it be swaying behind my ass!!"
"I also reasoned with the same logic but guess what I was answered with?"
"... That you wear it underneath your pants like a belt." Cecilia's face had really darkened at the thought process of those generals.
"..." Alex was speechless for a moment.
"I tried my best to reverse the odds, but they didn't want to hear a thing. After hours of bickering with those old bastards, we came to a final deal."
"We agreed upon an assessment, and you have to complete it within a month."
"I'm willing!" He said with fiery eyes.
"But let me tell you one thing beforehand." Cecilia stared deep into his eyes.
"I put my honour as a general on the line for you, so you got another month for this assessment. Upon failure, you'll be killed in front of the myriad races, and I'll lose my general rank."
The air became somewhat heavy.
"Call it a lady's intuition that I'm putting so much on the stake for you, a stranger."
"...I'll give it my all." Alex mustered up his courage.
"The assessment is... to kill an Awakened Abyssal beast within 2 months."
"..."
Veins began to bulge on his face.
An awakened abyssal beast could equally fend off professions of level 10-15. These monsters also had racial advantages, such as elemental affinities or physical resistance.
Reaching level 10 takes a whole year if people are lucky, but they want me to kill one in two months.
Why don't you just kill me shamelessly?
Looking at her face, she's not joking around.
"Then I'll take my leave immediately, general." Alex turned around to leave.
"Mm... Best of luck." Cecilia nodded.
Alex had just reached a few hundred meters from her abode.
"Pffft...Hahahaha" Cecilia broke into a laughter.
"Sister, You really made me feel the pressure~" Amanda's figure appeared siting on the table.
"Haha Well it's not everyday we can have fun right?" Cecilia scoffed with her rosy smile.
"What if he really brings back an awakened ?~"
"I left a teleportation spell on him, so his life will not be in danger."
"Didn't the assessment include holding a beast tide for one day?"
"Well...I was bored, so made some 'small' changes." A chilling laughter resounded from her mouth.
"..." Amanda couldn't help but be scared from her.
Will you start killing people just because of your boredom??
In the middle of the night, no one knew what the two playful sisters discussed.
On the other hand, Alex was cursing the innocent generals without any breaks.
"Your mother is an Abyssal Beast."
"Your whole ancestors are abyssal descendants."
He had just arrived at a place where there were very few people. The way he was cursing made people look at him with sympathy.
"Another young mind lost it from watching the bloodbath."
"Tch. Pretty sure that the Poor guy had awakened just this morning."
This made Alex more infuriated.
He was filled with rage, and he could only think of one way to soothe it.
"KILL!!"
Alex summoned his withered branch out and shoved it in the ground with all his strength. From the branch, the root of corruption slid away into the ground.
The ground beneath shook with tremors, and the man and root duo rushed towards the beast tides.
"Kill them until they are out of stock." A fiery determination was in his eyes.
"We have to reach level 10 within a month and start targeting for an awakened from next month. They didn't specify what kind of awakened I have to kill."
After few hours.
Alex rode at the maximum speed and kept on barraging the beasts with spells while the root captured them.
Catch them first, use spells, then devour.

After exhausting his mana, he would quietly sit to mediate while the root of corruption would surround him in a capsule of thick wooden branches, killing every beast in their view.
