Chapter 13 - Ivan Vankov

Cassiel remembered clearly how this researcher activated the curse in his head with the excuse of testing its operation and with the assumption that it was training even when he was cooperating correctly.

But Cassiel knew the truth. He was doing it for fun. He was doing it because he enjoyed watching him suffer.

It wasn't just speculation.

Basically, that man had said word for word the same thing to Cassiel with his circumstances, now he was the researcher and the man on his paws was the test subject, even though Cassiel had the answer to this experiment.

So, he decided to waste a little more mana talking. Just to let off steam. Just to see their despair and return their words, Cassiel would be sure to get even, for what happened.

His cold vengeance now burned, and he was literally burning the one who had wronged him, who had played him, who had had fun at his expense.

"hahahahaha~!!"

"ghh...gggah-ugh!...ght!!"

He had taken his time, and now the investigator had multiple needles of fire embedded in his body, burning in real time.

Cassiel was careful not to kill him immediately. He inflicted as much pain as possible without letting the suffering drive him mad.

he could not go crazy, if he did it would not be satisfactory for Cassiel.

He continued to embed needles with surgical precision, making sure the torment would not cease.

He wanted him to feel every second of agony.

But he still had work to do. He couldn't stay here forever.

When he glanced around and confirmed that it was almost all over, he decided it was time to end this.

"Tsk, too bad... well, I still have to find the bastard running all this...haaah~"

With a single motion, he slid one of her sharp claws across the researcher's throat.

Cassiel knew human physiology well.

The cut was precise. Lethal.

Blood began to gush out in irregular spasms as the man drowned in his own life-giving fluid, unable to utter even a last plea for mercy.

Cassiel turned away and he continued on his way, of escape and vengeance. but then he stopped.

'No... come to think of it, loose ends are never a good idea.'

He remembered many things that went wrong in his previous life due to his overconfidence.

He turned again, conjured another needle of fire and plunged it into the investigator's skull, incinerating him from the inside.

Only when he was completely sure that there was no life left did he continue moving forward.

'Well, there seems to be quite a few... Let's see.'

This area seemed to be the training area, which meant that here all the beasts were already intelligent.

And whoever had mapped the entire facility knew where they were; he went straight to an adjoining room and, as he thought of several individual cells, there were multiple different beasts.

He himself remembered being here in his early days, ever since he regained consciousness.

"Wrroof."

From the hallway, Cassiel growled, conveying the promise of freedom in exchange for being under his leadership, to which they all, without exception, responded positively.

And, with his telekinesis, he moved the key, which he took away from the researchers, towards the cages. It was not a conventional key, but a card with symbols engraved on it.

He opened cage by cage.

The beasts that came out did not pounce at random. As soon as they were released, they approached him, understanding that they were to obey him. As before, each approached and lowered its head in submission.

The largest creature this time was a gorilla, even more imposing than the ice bear. Its body was covered with thick slabs of what appeared to be rock attached to its forearms, head and thighs.

Cassiel was no expert on beasts, but he couldn't help but notice that the variety in this world was much more extensive than in his previous life.

Some were familiar, like the black wolves of his own race or the ice wolves, but others puzzled him.

A purple bear, a sheep with ice horns and this gorilla with dirt attached to it... There were too many differences to ignore.

Finally, the twenty beasts that he assumed had similar intelligence to the seven he had lived with were now free.

'Hmm... if I'm not mistaken, it should be this way.'

Cassiel then remembered the mother and her calf. He had promised that, given the chance, he would set them free. He was sure he had sensed them before....

He tried to use the connected system again to locate them more easily, but, oddly enough, despite being closer, he couldn't sense any connection.

'What...?'

It seemed that the humans, or perhaps even the beasts themselves, had destroyed or blocked the system.

He couldn't even see beyond this area anymore, which meant he didn't know the exact position of the scientists and knights.

He frowned and tried a more traditional method.

He scattered his mana around the environment. Although the range wasn't as wide as when he used the connection, it was still functional.

And then he found them.

The mother and her calf were nearby.

..

"Raor." (Take care of them.)

Once he confirmed that he had found everything useful in this area, Cassiel gave orders to the more intelligent beasts.

He tasked them with protecting the mother and her calf, who seemed to misunderstand the situation.

Then he continued her advance.

The facility was strangely orderly.

After Area Four, he entered Area Three. it was empty.

Cassiel nodded to himself. It made sense. With the mess he had made in the previous section, it was obvious that the humans would have evacuated or regrouped in another area.

He had barely entered when he blinded the cameras, but obviously having so many communication devices and people, the information obviously spread.

Cassiel was particularly interested in the next areas. If he wasn't mistaken, this was where intelligence was granted to the beasts.

He wasn't entirely sure, as he didn't remember these areas clearly, but if it was possible, Cassiel wanted to get the method.

He thought about it some more, and as a beast, he now had a difficult road ahead of him. He had to take advantage of everything he had at his disposal, and this research was something he believed would serve him well.

Caasiel looked around the room and there were many tubes with unknown liquids that if he didn't remember wrong the first time he opened his eyes he was inside one, As he was thinking of advancing the beasts, as he looked to see if he got anything.

But just at that moment, Cassiel felt a chill.

Boom!

There was no time to hesitate. Cassiel instinctively stepped aside. As soon as he did, he felt the wind as something brushed his side and heard the sound of an impact.

Cassiel had no time to hesitate, but still sensed danger, and without stopping moving, he used his Impulse skill and moved quickly.

Bang! Bang!

At that moment, Cassiel again felt something impact the place where he was moments before. This time, from his senses, he felt that it was definitely magic.

'Nebula Incandescens'

Quickly, and before he was recognized, he cast fire magic that caused a large explosion, or so it seemed.

It was more of a distraction magic that obstructed the view with that explosion, which wasn't very damaging.

This gave Cassiel room to understand the situation. His dynamic vision was clear. He saw how, at that moment, he was surrounded by many types of armor and swords, apparently they were using a type of asta camouflage that they attacked.

Caasiel did not expect it, the last time he detec them, they were in the area closest to the exit and he thought they would be there waiting for him with a better preparation.

Cassiel didn't get caught up in the bewilderment and stretched out her senses and did a quick head count. He quickly came to the conclusion that all the fighters had gathered at the site.

He was the first to enter the room; he had left the smarter beasts behind to take care of the other beasts and those who might be useful to him later.

So those who only followed closely were the unintelligent beasts, and he saw how some of the humans were turning their attention towards them, easing the burden of the concentrated attacks coming towards him.

Cassiel focused mainly on the one that made the first attack, which was particularly powerful.

And Cassiel saw through him.

'So you wield fire eh...' '

Just as Cassiel finished understanding his opponent, he suddenly appeared:

[Mission activated. Type: recurring (C-)]

>>Eliminate Ivan Vankov<<

Reward:

>>IvanVankov's random skill.

>>+ 1 sub rank

---Time remaining 30:00---]

Cassiel immediately understood that this guy was the one they always detected near the exit door.

Moreover, just when he was thinking whether it was good or bad that he was also related to the fire, a mission appeared.

It bothered him that something obstructed his vision during a crucial moment, but, apparently, following his will, that interference disappeared the instant he perceived it.

Cassiel didn't have time to think anymore, because the echiso to give him margin stopped working, now he was being surrounded and many attacks were directed towards him; he dodged it as best as he could.

Even his new skill seemed to activate instinctively, allowing him to move with greater agility between the attacks raining down on him.

But now that he understood the current situation, he decided to fight back.
