079 Qin Yun's Results! You Are Not a Qualified Trainer
Since most people in line had gone to watch the battle, Qin Yun and Ma Tao found it much easier to proceed through their tests. The remaining assessments moved along significantly faster.

Gym Battle Begins: Zhang Haochen vs. Gym Leader Wu
"Challenger Zhang Haochen has initiated a Gym Challenge. The rules are a three-on-three battle. The first to knock out all of their opponent's Pokémon wins."
"The Gym Leader cannot switch Pokémon mid-battle," the referee explained. "Furthermore, Gym Leader Wu is limited to using his second-string team for this match."
After confirming that both sides understood the rules, the match officially began.
"Just a warm-up," Gym Leader Wu said casually, stretching his shoulders. "We still have a lot of battles ahead."
"Warm-up?" Zhang Haochen frowned at the remark.
He prided himself on being an exceptional trainer, even if he treated Pokémon as mere tools for his success. Though he acknowledged Gym Leader Wu's seniority being a seasoned professional trainer in his fifties or sixties he felt confident that Wu's second-string Pokémon wouldn't stand a chance against him.
"You're just a Gym Leader from some small town," Zhang Haochen muttered under his breath. "I'll use you as a stepping stone to fame. Soon enough, I'll become an Elite Four member!"
With a dramatic toss of his Poké Ball, he called out his first Pokémon:
"Come out, Camerupt! Don't let me down!"
"Camerupt?" Gym Leader Wu raised an eyebrow. "Alright then, Machamp, let's go!"
The Fighting-type Gym Leader removed his jacket, revealing his well-defined muscles, mirroring his Pokémon's physique.
"Old friend," Wu said to Machamp. "Let's fight together!"
"Machamp!" The Superpower Pokémon flexed all four arms, its battle spirit igniting.
"The battle begins!" the referee announced.

Camerupt vs. Machamp – A Test of Strength
"Camerupt, use Ember!" Zhang Haochen ordered.
"Machamp, withstand it, then counter with Brick Break!"
While the battle raged on, Qin Yun continued his own series of tests. His performance remained consistently excellent.
Since there were fewer participants, he quickly reached the final physical endurance test.

Qin Yun's Endurance Test – A Stamina Showdown
Ma Tao, struggling to keep up with the stats Qin Yun was pulling, suddenly found himself astonished.
He had assumed that Qin Yun's greatest strength was Attack, but now he realized that his Speed and Endurance were just as extraordinary.
"Qin Yun," Ma Tao said, determined, "I won't lose to you in this final test. I train my Pokémon's stamina by running marathons with them!"
"Really? Then let's see how that works out for you," Qin Yun responded with a confident smirk.
Unlike the others, Qin Yun regularly trained his Pokémon with weighted gear, significantly boosting their endurance.
"The test begins!"
At the referee's command, Qin Yun's three Pokémon—Heracross, Combusken, and Fomantis—took off at full speed.
For them, the only competition was themselves.
"Qin Yun, this is a 10,000-meter run!" Ma Tao called out. "If you start out this fast, you'll burn out before the finish line!"
Qin Yun merely chuckled. He knew his Pokémon's limits well.
In particular, Fomantis—thanks to its natural healing abilities and strong connection to sunlight—could sprint through 80% of the course without breaking a sweat.

Qin Yun's Record-Breaking Performance
Sister Hua, one of the TV reporters covering the event, reviewed Qin Yun's stats. They were impressive but not overwhelmingly dominant.
Still, if Qin Yun was really only a high school senior, his potential was not far behind Zhang Haochen's.
The test results were announced:
Qin Yun's Pokémon finished far ahead of the others.
Ma Tao, struggling at the halfway mark, couldn't comprehend how Qin Yun's Pokémon had such exceptional endurance.

Official Endurance Scores
"Heracross: 3105!" (Score: 100)
"Combusken: 3891!" (Score: 100)
"Fomantis: 3671!" (Score: 100)
"All three received perfect stamina scores!"
The staff, still stunned, muttered to themselves. "If their speed were any higher, we'd be looking at top-tier Pokémon even among university-level trainers."
"Not bad," Qin Yun said with satisfaction, recalling his Pokémon.
At that moment, his full evaluation report was released:
Heracross (Qin Yun's Pokémon)
HP: 3105 (Score: 100)
Attack: 3102 (Score: 100)

Total Score: 14,601 (Score: 99)
Combusken – Total Score: 13,102 (98)
Fomantis – Total Score: 11,903 (96)
Although none of his Pokémon had an overwhelming individual stat, their well-rounded attributes made them more balanced and overall stronger than Zhang Haochen's.

Gym Battle – Machamp Dominates!
The battle reached its climax as the referee announced:
"Second match: Machamp defeats Magmortar!"
Zhang Haochen's face darkened.
He had just lost two Pokémon in a row to a single mid-elite Machamp. Worse, Machamp barely looked tired.
"Useless, all of them are useless!" Zhang Haochen hissed, his voice laced with frustration.
Many students watching froze in disbelief.
Even Zhang Haochen's closest friend hesitated, clearly unsettled by his reaction.
---
"You Are Not a Qualified Trainer"
Gym Leader Wu frowned, displeased with Zhang Haochen's attitude.
"A trainer who blames Pokémon instead of acknowledging their own faults is not fit to call themselves a Pokémon Trainer," he stated firmly.
His words sent a ripple through the audience.
Among the school faculty, Director Liu's face darkened.
He felt that Gym Leader Wu was being overly harsh on a freshman.
"Would it really hurt to let him win?" Director Liu thought. "If Zhang Haochen earned a Gym Badge, it would reflect well on Yongji University, boosting our prestige."
However, if Gym Leader Wu knew what Liu was thinking, he would have cursed him outright.
"The path of a Pokémon Trainer is built on genuine strength," Wu thought.
Giving away a Gym Badge undeservedly would be an insult to the profession.
If Zhang Haochen went on to challenge stronger Gym Leaders and was utterly crushed, it wouldn't just be his reputation on the line—it would be Yongji City's credibility at stake.
And Wu Yongqin would never allow that.
