Chapter 221: A Catastrophe That Could Destroy the Entire World
"This is the light magic that dispels darkness, and it's also the magic I used to kill Dementors."
George didn't use a wand; a massive white magic circle appeared instantly in front of him.
"Array of Light!"
"Domain of Light!"
"Explosion of Light!"
"Rain of Light!"
After unleashing all the Holy Light spells, George moved on to cast a second type of magic.
"This is giant magic, which allows my body to enlarge."
Another magic circle lit up on his body, and his arm suddenly swelled up. With a single punch, he shattered a tree so large that it would take several people to encircle it.
"This is the Giant's Fistbone."
Then his entire body expanded to over ten meters tall.
"This is Gigantification. In this state, my strength surpasses even that of the giant race."
With a clap of both hands, a fierce gust of wind swept out.
When he punched the ground, both Snape and Dumbledore felt the earth tremble.
If they hadn't known George was a pure human, they would have really believed he was a giant — and not just any giant, but a particularly tall and strong one.
Shrinking back to normal size, he reached out and drew in the air.
"This is Text Magic!"
"This is a Ritual Barrier!"
"This is Transformation Magic!"
"This is Wardrobe Magic!"
"This is Mimicry Transformation Magic!"
"This is Mirror World Magic!"
After a round of showing off, George continued:
"What I just demonstrated were all kinds of magic my grandpa taught me. Now, I'll show you the special power he gave me."
His entire body was once again wrapped in crackling electricity:
"This move is called the Railgun!"
He reached out and flicked a silver sickle coin into the air. It was enveloped in 200 million volts of electricity. After aiming, George fired it forward at supersonic speed, unstoppable and devastating.
Moments later, a wide, smooth path had been blasted open before him.
Snape and Dumbledore were both filled with shock.
Just that one shot could instantly kill over ninety percent of the world's wizards.
A wizard capable of casting magic silently, wandlessly, and instantly was extremely rare in the wizarding world.
Most wizards need to wave a wand and chant an incantation to cast a spell — at the very least, they need a second of preparation.
So when faced with George's supersonic railgun, there would be no time to raise a magical defense or counterattack.
What's worse is the terrifying power of the railgun — if one were to be hit by it, they'd be finished on the spot.
"Next is the Thunder Giant and the enlarged version of the Railgun!"
A magnetic storm exploded from George's body. A Thunder Giant over thirty meters tall slowly took form. Just as he was about to unleash the larger version of the Railgun, Dumbledore quickly used an amplifying spell to shout:
"No need to show more! We believe you — quickly return to your original form."
At this hour of the night, the noise from all this was bound to have alarmed many magical creatures and primal inhabitants of the Forbidden Forest. If George were to release that amplified version of the super railgun, it would be a big problem.
Not to mention the Aurors and Dementors stationed at every exit of the school.
So Dumbledore called him to stop in time. Once George returned to his normal form, he immediately cast a repairing spell to fix the damaged nearby trees, then flew back to the office with Snape and George.
"Actually, I still have more I can show."
Back in the office, George said with wide, bright eyes.
Dumbledore and Snape both raised their hands at the same time to stop him:
"No, no more! We believe you!"
To be honest, both of them were still a bit dazed.
So many different types of magic, all of which were completely different from what they knew — and none of them required a wand, yet their power was immense.
This couldn't possibly be some ancient magic George learned from a few books.
They had studied ancient magic themselves — it was slower to cast, but extremely powerful. However, the principles of ancient magic weren't drastically different from modern magic.
Modern magic was simply optimized from ancient magic, and new spells were developed on top of it.
But George's magic clearly came from an entirely different system.
With their level of magical understanding, they couldn't even begin to comprehend the principles behind it — let alone believe George had created it or learned it from a book.
And then there was the Thunder Giant and the Railgun — these completely defied their knowledge.
So, other than George's claim that the magic was taught to him by a deity, they truly couldn't think of any other explanation.
It took a long while for Dumbledore to finally speak and ask George:
"Did the deity reveal their identity? Did they tell you why they were teaching you magic?"
At this point, he was about seventy to eighty percent convinced by George's explanation, but he still had some doubts.
As for Dumbledore's question, George had already prepared a response.
[Translator: sauron05]
"Grandpa didn't tell me who he was, only that he was a deity. He said he gave me this magic because a great catastrophe would strike the world in twenty years — a disaster capable of wiping out all of humanity.
He said I was the one he chose, a being born to face and stop this catastrophe that could annihilate the entire human race."
"What!"
Snape and Dumbledore's pupils shrank at the same time.
"What kind of catastrophe?"
All of humanity being wiped out? Even if Voldemort were resurrected and ruled the world, it wouldn't result in total human extinction.
So what kind of terrifying disaster, twenty years from now, could wipe out all of humanity?
At this point, Snape and Dumbledore were no longer focused on the deity — their concern had shifted entirely to the impending disaster.
George cleared his throat and began his grand act of deception:
"Actually, I don't quite understand it either. I can't fully grasp it. I'll just repeat what Grandpa told me, more or less.
He told me that outside the planet we live on, there's an even vaster universe, with civilizations far more advanced than ours.
Things like the Xandarian civilization, the Kree Empire, the Skrull Empire, and so on..."
For a full three hours, until two in the morning, George finally finished telling the story he had made up.
Luckily, this world didn't have any Marvel-related things, so he could borrow Marvel's stories to fool Snape and Dumbledore.
"So, what you're saying is... in twenty years, an alien named Thanos will invade Earth with his intergalactic army to wipe out humanity, and the deity gave you magic so you could defeat them and protect Earth and humankind?"
Snape looked stunned. The amount of information George had dumped on him was so immense that he couldn't process or understand it at once.
As a Slytherin wizard, he knew very little about Muggle affairs, and naturally had no concept of things like space or aliens.
Most of his knowledge about the cosmos came from astronomical magic — divination using stars and such.
But George's story sounded so real — those alien empires, those cosmic warships, their abilities and civilizations — nothing about it seemed fake.
