Chapter 245: Let Hydra Fall into Despair
George took out the box and stored the piece of wood inside.
The construction of a nuclear bomb couldn't be done without metal, and as long as it was metal, it would naturally fall under his control.
It's worth noting that in X-Men: First Class, Magneto was able to instantly halt all incoming missiles using his power.
So, as long as a nuclear bomb entered the range of his superpower, it was basically rendered useless.
As for using a transfiguration spell at the end, it was to preserve the nuclear bomb in its launch-ready state. Thanks to the effects of his new wand, this state could be maintained for a long time.
According to this world's history, Earth's nuclear bombs were created by the Eternals, beings made by the Celestials who also created planets and life. These weapons were granted to humans to help end wars and served as the ultimate weapon.
Even in the context of the universe, their power should not be underestimated.
A single one was enough to destroy the Chitauri's interstellar warship, and it felt even more violent than many of the advanced weapons used by other civilizations in Guardians of the Galaxy.
By preserving it through transfiguration, if he ever needed it again, he could lift the spell, restoring the nuclear bomb to its original form to launch another strike. It was essentially a hidden trump card in his hand.
After casually dealing with the nuclear bomb, he turned and faced the three hovering helicarriers in the sky.
"Feel despair, Hydra!"
He clasped his hands together and pulled them apart:
"Plasma Electromagnetic Cannon!"
A thick beam of plasma electromagnetic energy burst from George's hands, instantly piercing straight through one of the helicarriers.
He then shifted his body to the right, slicing the ship cleanly in half, before continuing the sweep toward the other two.
The remaining two helicarriers, realizing the danger, quickly turned their energy cannons toward George.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
"Light Magic: Trigod Formation!"
A golden magic circle rose behind him, forming a light-type defensive formation that blocked all the incoming energy blasts.
While holding back their attacks, George did not stop maintaining the plasma electromagnetic cannon. He continued his sweep, slicing the remaining two helicarriers in half and sending them crashing into the lake below.
In less than ten seconds, the three helicarriers—Hydra's vessels of hope for world domination—had been effortlessly destroyed by George alone.
To him, giant ships like helicarriers without defensive shields were nothing but sitting ducks.
The key wasn't just the lack of shields; their structures were weak. Even during the first Avengers movie, one of them almost got taken down by Hawkeye with a bomb.
"Oh my God, who is he? Is he the Archangel Michael?!"
"He's incredible!"
"Was that a nuclear bomb at the end? Who launched it? Is the government trying to destroy Washington?"
"He stopped the bomb! He saved all of Washington!"
"He saved our lives!"
At that moment, viewers watching the live broadcast were utterly stunned by the surreal scene unfolding before them.
Captain America, Wolverine, and Iron Man—they were understandable.
Captain America had taken the Super Soldier Serum—essentially a biological experiment. Wolverine was a mutant, a result of genetic mutation. Iron Man made sense too—technological innovation.
But George was something else entirely.
First, he suddenly appeared, then unfolded wings, then fired a plasma cannon by hand, and followed that up with a mysterious golden magic circle for defense. Combined together, all of it gave off one singular impression:
He was a god!
Of course, while people felt that way, most remained rational. After snapping out of their shock, they were filled with gratitude for George—especially the citizens of Washington.
Had George not intervened, who knows what threats those three Hydra helicarriers might have posed? But the destructive power of a nuclear bomb? That, they understood well enough.
The members of the Security Council who had been closely monitoring the situation were also deeply shaken.
"Who is this guy? Is he a mutant too? Why didn't Nick Fury ever mention him?!"
Nick Fury had mentioned the rebuilding of the Mutant Academy and briefly brought up Wolverine and a few young mutants, assuring them everything was under control, so they hadn't paid it much mind.
But now it turned out that among those mutants was someone this dangerous.
It was no joke—that was a nuclear bomb. He stopped it with a wave and turned it into wood. And within seconds, he obliterated three helicarriers capable of wiping out elite military forces and threatening world powers.
Looking at it this way, this guy was far more dangerous than Hydra.
Because if he ever turned against them, what could they possibly do to stop him?
"Nick Fury, that bastard… Who knows what else he's been hiding from us!"
"Looks like I'll need to figure out how to upgrade my Golden Legend Armor again!"
On the ground below, Tony looked up at George's plasma cannon as it swept through the three helicarriers, then remembered how he'd proudly shown off his chest cannon to Steve and Logan earlier—and blushed in embarrassment.
"Good thing George wasn't around just now…"
"The principal is still the principal. No wonder he's always off the radar—turns out he's been developing new abilities again!"
Logan couldn't help but sigh. He'd seen it happen so many times that it didn't even faze him anymore.
George had been developing new powers at regular intervals, so Logan was used to it—though this time, the power level was on a whole different scale.
"The superpowered ones have escaped! Let's get in there and rescue Bucky!"
Steve was equally shocked, but concern for his close friend Bucky kept him alert.
He saw the eyeless man on the other side awaken and teleport away with a few superpowered allies, then immediately rushed toward the Triskelion building.
Tony and Logan quickly followed.
Without help from the Inhumans, the remaining Hydra robots and soldiers were no match for the combined might of the three heroes. They quickly broke through the defenses and stormed the building.
"How can this be? How can this be? How could he possibly be this strong?!"
Inside the director's office of the Triskelion, Pierce stared at the ruins of his long-standing dream—his precious helicarriers now sunk in the lake—feeling utterly hopeless and questioning everything.
He simply couldn't believe that one mutant could be so powerful.
Could it be that he had chosen the wrong path—that Stratt's superpowered route was the correct one?
"Kill them all! Kill them!"
At this point, there was no way he could stay. He ordered his men to execute all hostages.
Partly out of revenge and frustration, and partly to draw the enemy's attention and buy himself time to escape.
To him, this wasn't over. He was convinced that his ideals could still be achieved.
However, as soon as he spoke, he realized that no one behind him responded.
"Petrificus Totalus! Legilimens!"
He turned around, only to see a finger pressing against his forehead.
"You—how are you here—"
"Severus Blade!"
Moments later, George withdrew his finger, and Pierce's head separated from his body.
