As the founder of Tian Xing Academy, shouldn't he just issue orders and let others handle the execution? Why was he personally tasked with carrying out the plan?
Ye Wen stared helplessly at the document in his hand, (_|||), then turned to Bibi Dong with a pitiful look.
"Dong Dong~"
Without even looking up, Bibi Dong replied, "We're short on manpower right now, so you can't afford to slack off.
Besides, some people below have started getting ideas. You need to step in and set things straight. After all, the Holy Spirit Empire was your plan from the start—it's only fair that you don't sit back and relax while everyone else works."
Ye Wen tried to argue that he wasn't slacking off but rather conducting academic research and diligently cultivating to protect everyone in the future.
However, Bibi Dong suddenly looked up and gave him a seductive smile, her gaze lingering on Ye Wen's lower body.
"But I know I can't order you around, so if you refuse, I'll just have to make you compensate in other ways."
Bibi Dong's gaze sent a shiver down Ye Wen's spine. Her aggressive expression did stir something within him, but considering Bibi Dong's bone-crushing, marrow-sucking dual cultivation methods…
She had been squeezing him dry recently, leaving Ye Wen feeling weak in the knees.
Better not risk it.
"Leave it to me! No problem!"
With those words, Ye Wen quickly disappeared from the palace.
On her throne, Bibi Dong rolled her eyes before diving back into her work.
Outside the palace, Ye Wen glanced at the document in his hand and scratched his head in frustration.
As someone who operated behind the scenes, he usually just provided general guidance and waited for results. How long had it been since he last handled actual operations? He couldn't even remember.
However, Bibi Dong's mention of subordinates starting to misbehave made Ye Wen's expression turn cold.
In both his past life and this one, Ye Wen detested human traffickers and corrupt officials the most.
These people were fortunate to live in modern times—if they had been in ancient times, their entire clans would've been exterminated.
And now, as someone in a position of power, Ye Wen found it infuriating that corruption had already begun to take root in the early stages of his grand plan.
He wasn't like Old Zhu, an obsessive workaholic who relentlessly squeezed his subordinates—and yet they still dared to act this way. They were truly asking for death.
Speaking of which, when reading the original story, Ye Wen had wanted to criticize Bibi Dong—what was the point of establishing the Spirit Empire?
The grassroots level was rotten to the core, and even scum like Bu Le were accepted.
Bu Le was the creep from the original story who had attempted inappropriate behavior toward Xiao Wu when she was still in a beginner academy. His fate, naturally, was grim—he was left half-dead by Xiao Wu's signature move, the Eight-Section Throw.
Forget it—why dwell on the mad Bibi Dong of the past? She wasn't even the same person anymore.
Ye Wen scratched his head again, refocusing his thoughts and straightening his gaze.
A faint smile appeared on Ye Wen's lips. Though his lie-detection soul-guided device wasn't ready yet, there were still built-in cheat codes in this world.
Ye Wen carefully reviewed the plan he had written, making adjustments based on the practical realities of its execution, then nodded in satisfaction.
Seated comfortably, Ye Wen closed his eyes slightly and began sensing the intangible threads of faith energy.
Finally, he grasped a relatively thick strand of faith energy and transmitted his voice through it.
"Hai Te, bring 300 members of your tribe with mind-reading abilities to the Holy Spirit Imperial Capital to meet me."
Hai Te, the leader of the merfolk, who had been peacefully cultivating in their underwater domain, was startled upon hearing the familiar voice. He immediately knelt halfway to the ground.
"Yes!"
As his devoted followers, Ye Wen paid special attention to the merfolk.
He had personally blessed them with divine protection, allowing them to live on land like humans instead of needing to return to water periodically like sea soul beasts, which would otherwise leave them weakened.
This act deepened the merfolk's reverence for the Sea God.
Within a single day, 300 merfolk arrived in neat formation before Ye Wen.
It had to be said—the merfolk were an exceptionally handsome and beautiful race, to the point where Ye Wen felt a bit overwhelmed by their beauty.
But more impressive than their appearance was their innate talent. As one of the most naturally gifted races of the Douluo Continent, they would have likely become the dominant species of Douluo Star if not for their limited reproductive capabilities.
At this moment, Hai Te stepped forward respectfully and bowed. "What does the Sea God command?"
Ye Wen gently helped Hai Te to his feet.
"The Douluo Continent is entering a new era, but the establishment of a new civil order will inevitably bring challenges. I need your merfolk's unique mind-reading abilities to root out the corrupt elements within the Holy Spirit Empire. Can you do it, Hai Te?"
Hai Te's heart raced, and his face flushed red as he bowed deeply once more. "We will not disappoint the Sea God's expectations."
Hai Te knew this was his tribe's chance to prove themselves. Beyond mere divine protection, Hai Te wanted to earn Ye Wen's favor, and this was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate their value.
Satisfied with Hai Te's response, Ye Wen immediately began detailing the mission.
Hai Te listened attentively.
What Ye Wen said was simple: visit various places to uncover corruption. If they encountered difficulties, they could request support from higher-level experts.
The merfolk numbered less than a thousand, so Ye Wen was particularly reluctant to lose any of these precious subordinates. Not only were they powerful fighters, but they also provided a substantial amount of faith energy.
Moreover, Ye Wen wasn't a miser—he had prepared generous benefits and rewards for the merfolk.
The merfolk, who had lived in isolation beneath the sea, were dazzled by Ye Wen's promises.
Finally, Ye Wen handed each of them two special soul-guided devices:
One was a shielding simulator that completely blocked the perception of Title Douluos, and the other was a communication device.
With these tools, their efficiency in rooting out corruption would greatly improve.
However, Ye Wen noticed a flaw in the merfolk—they were too naive.
After all, a society of only a thousand people wasn't very complex, so they hadn't experienced much of the darker side of human nature.
To address this, Ye Wen spent some time training them to recognize what constituted corruption and betrayal.
With the merfolk's deployment, the results were promising.
The 300 merfolk who had come were all above the Soul King level, equivalent to ten-thousand-year-old soul beasts, so they moved and investigated quickly.
Meanwhile, those who had colluded with corrupt officials began to panic. But mistakes were mistakes, and Ye Wen had no mercy for traitors.
Let them pay for their past crimes alongside the nobles of the old era.
