Chapter 51 - Ch 51: A real man never looks back

"Hahahaha."

The surrounding classmates all burst into laughter, after all, Kushina's shuriken throwing was really too poor. Even worse than a first-year student.

"With this level of skill, you still want to become a Hokage?"

"That's right. I'm even better than her."

Kushina's face was as red as a tomato. But she just glared at them and walked away silently.

After all, her shuriken technique was truly terrible, and without strength, anything she said would sound like an excuse.

Any rebuttal from her now would only increase the laughter directed at her. Although her personality was very outgoing, she was not as foolish as the future protagonist Naruto.

"Uzumaki Kushina, D."

Although the Third Hokage did indeed instruct teacher Nishimura to take good care of Kushina, the results were obvious to all.

So, even if Kushina were the Third Hokage's illegitimate daughter, he couldn't fake the grades.

He had no choice but to give Kushina a failing grade.

Hearing such a grade, Kushina did not express any other opinions but walked down in silence.

"This child should go back to the previous grade and start over. At this rate, she won't be able to keep up with the course at all. She can't even do the most basic shuriken throwing. I don't understand what the Hokage is thinking." Teacher Nishimura sighed, then glanced at the list again.

"Kushina..." Mikoto looked at her with a worried face.

Kushina put on a big smile.

"I'm fine. I'll practice more in the future."

Tatsumi nodded. "We can all teach you."

Kushina became a little happier. "Then it's a deal."

---

Time passed by bit by bit.

"Next, Uchiha Mikoto."

Mikoto stood up and slowly walked onto the stage.

"Mikoto, good luck!" Kushina cheered Mikoto on.

Mikoto walked up with a calm face. Her long black hair was tied into a neat ponytail, giving people a very clean feeling.

The Uchiha's mastery of shuriken technique was well-known in Konoha, and Mikoto's grades were very good. Everyone had no doubt that Mikoto could get an A.

The only doubt was how many shurikens Uchiha Mikoto could land on the target ten meters away.

Soon, Mikoto stood in the designated position for shuriken throwing and took out six shurikens from the ninja tool bag, three in each hand.

"Do you think Mikoto is holding back? I remember that Mikoto hit all eight shurikens last time. Why only six this time?"

Minato whispered next to Tatsumi.

"She should be trying the Uchiha throwing."

"Is it the technique that you used before?"

"That's right."

Tatsumi knew Mikoto well.

Mikoto, standing in the center of the training ground, casually threw three shurikens forward and then quickly released three more at an extremely fast speed.

The second set of shurikens caught up with the first, collided with them mid-air, and redirected their trajectory. Three shurikens hit the target directly, while the other three rebounded and landed perfectly on the back of the target.

For a moment, the training ground was silent. This was a technique only seen before from Tatsumi in their grade.

"Wow, Mikoto is so cool!" Kushina exclaimed excitedly.

Nawaki sighed. Everyone was showing off—why couldn't he master this technique yet?

"Accuracy A, Quantity A+, Destructive Power B+, Overall Evaluation A+."

After a brief pause, teacher Nishimura reported Mikoto's results.

In the academy's shuriken test, three factors determined the final score:

1. Accuracy – how close the shurikens landed to the bullseye.

2. Quantity – how many shurikens were thrown at once.

3. Destructive Power – how much force the shurikens carried.

There were many ways to increase destructive power, such as infusing wind or lightning chakra into the shuriken. However, that level of technique was usually only achieved by jonin.

For students, the only way to improve destructive power was to throw the shurikens with greater speed and force.

---

"Next, Tatsumi," teacher Nishimura announced.

Since Mikoto had helped Tatsumi sign up, their turns were close together.

Tatsumi walked toward the training ground. Immediately, the atmosphere changed.

"Tatsumi! Tatsumi! I love you!"

"Go, my favorite Tatsumi!"

"You're the best!"

Tatsumi's fangirls erupted in cheers.

Everyone was used to it by now, and even Mikoto didn't react. Teacher Nishimura curled his lips in displeasure—these girls had no taste.

Nawaki looked at Tatsumi enviously. So many fangirls… I wish I had that.

Kushina, seeing this for the first time, glared at Tatsumi as if she was meeting him for the first time.

"Throw once. No chance for a redo. Let's begin," Nishimura said impatiently.

Tatsumi stood still and slowly pulled out a single shuriken from his ninja tool bag.

"Just one?" Even teacher Nishimura was stunned.

In the last shuriken test, Tatsumi had thrown ten shurikens—and all of them had hit the bullseye!

"Yes, just one."

Tatsumi nodded. A small cloud of chakra gathered in his hand.

A sharp whistling sound suddenly tore through the air.

Before anyone could react, the shuriken flashed with dark light and shot straight at the bullseye.

The moment it hit, it pierced through the target.

But the speed didn't stop there.

The shuriken continued flying forward, slamming into the wall on the other side of the training ground.

It buried itself so deeply that even the edges weren't visible.

"…"

The entire training room fell silent. Even Tatsumi's fangirls stopped cheering.

Tatsumi didn't even look at his shot. He just casually shook his windbreaker and walked away.

A real man never looks back at the explosion.

If Mikoto's technique showcased the finesse of the Uchiha clan, then Tatsumi's was pure overwhelming force.

"Accuracy A+, Quantity C, Destructive Power A+, Overall Evaluation A+."

Teacher Nishimura squinted at Tatsumi's back.

That effortless display… His titanium alloy dog eyes were blinded.
