"I am a failure, my innate soul power isn't high... only level seven."

A young man who looked to be in his twenties, with dark purple hair styled into a spiky, upward-pointing mullet, dressed in punk-style clothing with iron rings hanging on his jacket, was recounting his experiences while holding a half-empty glass of wine.

His expression was lonely and sorrowful, as if he was having a rough time, but the words he spoke made most people feel like he deserved a beating.

"I got into the Northern Academy, but I was ostracized by my classmates because nobody likes someone who isn't good at talking."

You really aren't good at talking...

The surrounding listeners had this thought from the bottom of their hearts.

"Later, I met my teacher, who was an excellent hunter. He took me hunting in the Soul Beast Forest."

"His experience was so rich, he could always avoid powerful soul beasts and find just the right prey... the traps he set never disappointed. He taught me how to provoke wild boars so they would charge into the traps themselves."

"But one day, everything changed. We encountered something very strange in the forest."

"Four black baboons carrying a coffin, swaying from side to side, passed before our eyes..."

"Infant-like cries came from the coffin... it was that accident that caused me to lose my teacher."

"I swear, everything I'm saying is true. You can't imagine what I went through..."

Listening intently, Lei Yin looked at the storyteller who had suddenly stopped and couldn't help but ask:

"What happened?"

Hearing Lei Yin's question, the storyteller looked at the empty wine glass on his table and let out a deep sigh.

Lei Yin understood his meaning and said to the bartender:

"Give this gentleman a glass of his favorite drink."

The purple-haired youth picked up the filled glass, gulped it down in one go, looked at Lei Yin, and gave a playful and slightly mocking smile:

"What happened?... Guess."

The expectation on Lei Yin's face gradually disappeared, and he said with some disappointment:

"You haven't finished writing the sequel, have you? What a pity, wasting my money on a drink."

His expression was as if he was looking at an author who had stopped updating and run away.

"So I didn't fool you, huh? I thought there would be a real idiot who believed me." The smile on his face faded slightly, losing some of its interest.

He brought his right index and middle fingers together and extended them to the side.

A pale purple, semi-transparent barrier appeared at his fingertips.

Bang!

The barrier collided with the incoming fist, emitting a low thud.

"Bastard, who are you calling an idio... no, how dare you trick my brother, give me back the money for the drink!" Yan Jin quickly changed her words halfway through.

"It's not necessary, it's not necessary, it's just a drink," Lei Yin said, pulling Yan Jin back with a bit of a headache.

The purple-haired youth ignored Yan Jin and looked at Lei Yin, "Is this your sister? Her IQ doesn't seem to be very good..."

Lei Yin pulled Yan Jin's hand back, "I suddenly feel that the money for a drink is still money."

He didn't care about being tricked out of a drink, but he couldn't stand someone saying bad things about his sister.

"Deep sibling affection? How touching..." The purple-haired youth revealed a playful smile, "There's one thing I didn't lie about, I was indeed ostracized by my classmates."

That must be because of your mouth... Lei Yin muttered inwardly.

He rarely felt like joining Yan Jin in beating someone up instead of trying to stop her.

Boom... accompanied by rising flames, the fiery lava brought waves of heat.

The lava burned the barrier, but it couldn't break through that thin layer of defense.

"Soul Masters? At this age, with these soul power fluctuations, you should be my junior classmates..."

The purple-haired youth looked relaxed, not taking the lava-covered fist seriously.

"But I remember that class should be in session at this time, you wouldn't have skipped class, would you? Which class are you from?

"I promise I won't report you to your class teacher for skipping class to come here to drink and eat."

"You're also a student at the Northern Academy?" Lei Yin asked, frowning.

The purple-haired youth asked in surprise: "Didn't I say that just now? Even a fish's memory should be more than a few seconds..."

"Magma..." Yan Jin was just about to use a more powerful attack, but remembered burning down the Bi Da'er family's tavern last time, so she retracted her fist and said coldly:

"Senior? How about going outside for some pointers?"

The purple-haired youth chuckled, "Since Junior Sister is so enthusiastic, let's go."

Arriving on the street, the two of them took their stances, the surging soul power bringing a faint sense of pressure.

The passers-by consciously made way, staying far away to avoid being accidentally injured.

The two Soul Masters in conflict attracted a lot of attention, and gazes were cast here.

Yan Jin was on guard, the brief exchange just now had made her understand that this annoying guy in front of her wasn't someone she could easily deal with.

"Huh? Isn't that Romier? Who's he fighting with again?" Someone in the crowd recognized the purple-haired youth and asked.

"Who knows, with that mouth of his, the people who want to beat him up could line up from the academy gate to the city lord's mansion."

The purple-haired Romier gave Yan Jin a mocking smile, flipped her off, and then turned and ran.

A gust of wind blew, carrying the leaves on the ground across the street.

The humiliation of being played made Yan Jin's anger rise rapidly, "Don't run!"

She strode forward and chased after him.

"Sister, wait for me..." Lei Yin wanted to chase after her, but the shop owner grabbed his clothes.

"You're students from the Northern Academy? You think you can run without paying?" he said fiercely.

The Northern Academy's reputation was pretty good, if students caused trouble and were reported, the situation would be verified and dealt with fairly.

So the locals weren't too afraid of the Soul Master students in the academy.

"Be careful, I'll complain to the academy!"

Lei Yin reluctantly settled the bill... including Romier's share who had run away... he didn't want to waste time arguing with the shop owner over such a small matter.

But he was still too late, looking back, Yan Jin and Romier had already disappeared without a trace.

He scratched his chin with a bit of a headache, muttering:

"I hope they don't cause too much of a commotion."

...

"Bastard, don't run," Yan Jin shouted as she chased.

"Then don't chase me," Romier's mocking smile never faded.

"If you don't run, I won't chase."

"If you don't chase, how would I run?"

In a chase and escape, the two of them ran through half the city and arrived at an open space near the Northern Academy.

"You're too persistent," Romier said.

Romier was the first to encounter such a tenacious opponent, the smile on his face disappeared, replaced by a kind of helplessness.

"Hehe... can't run anymore? My stamina is very good," Yan Jin revealed a triumphant smile.

"So, young lady, what if you catch me?" Romier's wicked smile reappeared on his face.

"Of course, I'll teach you a lesson." Yan Jin's purpose was always simple and clear.

"You can't do it," Romier said calmly.

"How would you know if you don't try?"

On a small hill to the side, a thin figure dressed as a merchant sat on a rock, calmly watching the conflict below.

He raised his right hand towards his face, but suddenly seemed to remember something, his movement paused... In the end, he pinched his right eye socket, put down his right hand, and wore a faint smile on his face.
