"Mm," Richard hummed as he stood, walked up to her and gently slid a hand along the back of her chair, leaning down just enough for his lips to graze her ear. "Really?"
Shantel's breath hitched and just when she thought he was going to do something outrageous, he whispered, "So that's your cousin."
Shantel was rendered speechless. "W-why are you suddenly interested in her identity? I thought you didn't care?" Shantel rasped, trying but failing miserably to mask how his closeness affected her.
"I need to take note of the people around you to ensure your safety," Richard said nonchalantly. Lowering his voice to almost a husky whisper, he added, "but if it makes you jealous…"
His breath was fire against her skin causing her heart to slam against her ribs.
"Don't flatter yourself, Mr Domango. Why would I be jealous?" She asked like it was the most impossible thing in the world.
