Chapter 79 - The Pursuit

"Disgraceful! Shameless! Are you even a man? Fight me like a true warrior!" Lancelot shouted in fury, trying to provoke Ren into engaging in direct combat with her.

However, instead of taking the bait, Ren burst into laughter.

"Ha Ha Ha! Of course I'm a man. The proof is, I've already impregnated two women."

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

Ren moved nimbly, firing arrows while continuously maneuvering to evade Lancelot's attacks, which now threatened Guinevere's safety. At this moment, his archery skills surpassed the limits of any living being. Every shot he released was perfectly precise, forcing the white horse to endlessly dodge in the sky to avoid the relentless rain of arrows.

*WHOOSH!*

Meanwhile, Lancelot kept chasing him, trying to close the distance between them. However, Ren displayed remarkable agility, making it difficult for her to land a decisive strike.

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

*PU-CHI!* *PU-CHI!* *PU-CHI!*

The arrows flew without pause, and after a while, a few finally struck Guinevere's white horse, causing it to whimper in pain.

"Ngikkkk....!!!"

Guinevere tried to calm her steed, but the momentary distraction was all Ren needed. Mercilessly, he aimed directly at Guinevere, ensuring this attack would hit its mark.

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

The arrows shot forth with incredible speed, now just five meters away from Guinevere, who failed to react in time. But before they could reach her, Lancelot suddenly appeared in front.

*CLANG!* *CLING!* *CLANG!* *CLING!*

With extraordinary skill, she swung her divine spear, deflecting the attack and shattering the arrows into fragments of light.

"Since you refuse to fight properly, this battle ends here."

After saying that, Lancelot spun her spear and mounted Guinevere's now-stabilized white horse, preparing to leave.

"Trying to run? Unfortunately, I've already resolved to obtain the Holy Grail, no matter what."

Hearing this, Guinevere felt no fear with Lancelot by her side. So, she dared to sneer at Ren.

"How foolish! A Campione so arrogant, even when victory is clearly hopeless. Do you truly believe you can take the Holy Grail from me? Not even in your wildest dreams."

"..."

Ren responded only with a cold, disgusted glare. Not a single word left his lips, but his expression was enough to make Guinevere feel belittled.

"Let's go."

Now ready to depart, Lancelot guided her white horse into the night sky. Like a pegasus from legend, the steed soared under the starlight, cutting through the air at high speed.

However, what the two women didn't expect was that Ren had no intention of letting them escape so easily. With his bow in hand, he pursued them without hesitation, using the superhuman speed granted by his Campione physiology.

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

Arrows flew once more with tremendous force, aimed at the pair in the sky. With his Heavenly Eyes, Ren could see up to 200 kilometers without obstruction. Meaning, unless the white horse could cover that distance in an instant, there was no way they could shake him off.

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

Ren continued firing arrows relentlessly. Each shot carried not only immense power but also flawless accuracy.

And so, the chase began.

With the constant barrage of arrows, the white horse had to maneuver endlessly to evade. Lancelot knew each arrow carried terrifying kinetic energy. She couldn't deflect them with Guinevere beside her—doing so would risk Guinevere being injured by the shockwaves again, just like before.

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

The pursuit lasted for hours until the sun began to rise on the eastern horizon. As a Heretic God, Lancelot's stamina was extraordinary. But Guinevere wasn't as resilient. Though she was a Divine Ancestor, the relentless pressure from the seemingly tireless Campione began to wear her down, both physically and mentally.

*SWISH!*

The white horse's endless maneuvers had long left Guinevere dizzy and nauseous.

Her usually well-kept hair was now disheveled, dark circles hung under her eyes, and her face was as pale as colorless cloth. In a voice laced with frustration, she grumbled.

"Madman! Don't you have anything better to do? So stubborn, like a dog that won't let go of a bone!"

Guinevere gritted her teeth, then turned to Lancelot.

"Uncle, I truly don't understand. How can he keep attacking like this? He's been using his divine authority for hours without rest! It makes no sense! Does his magical energy have no limit?"

Lancelot replied calmly, though a hint of resignation tinged her voice.

"Most likely, those arrows are just a basic application of his divine authority. That's why the magical energy consumption is minimal, allowing him to sustain it indefinitely."

Hearing this, Guinevere acknowledged the logic behind the theory.

"Hou Yi… truly worthy of being called the greatest archer in Chinese myth. Even his basic attacks have supersonic speed and lethal penetration. Facing this endlessly is exhausting."

Meanwhile, on the ground, Ren kept running without pause. No terrain could hinder him as he drew his bow and fired arrows without rest.

*SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!* *SWOOSH!*

His magical energy remained abundant. In fact, he felt he could keep this up all day without tiring. Raising his voice, he shouted at Guinevere high in the sky.

"I just want to borrow the Holy Grail! I swear I'll return it once I'm done using it for my needs!"

Hearing this, Guinevere could only respond with anger and frustration.

"Who would believe such nonsense?! Stop this ridiculous chase! Don't you know stubborn men are unpopular with women?"

"Pfttt— Ha Ha Ha..."

Ren burst into laughter while still running, drawing his bow, and continuing to fire.

"So now you're giving me love advice? Listen, I don't need lessons from an old virgin with no romantic experience. Unlike you, I'm a Casanova! I know romance from real experience, not just books and movies!"

"Ugh!"

Ren's words made Guinevere's face flush—not from embarrassment, but from rage. She clenched her teeth, her hands gripping the saddle tightly.

In a trembling, furious voice, she retorted, "How dare you, a newborn Campione, insult me like this! I am a Divine Ancestor, the reincarnation of the Earth Mother Goddess! I've witnessed more love stories than you've years in your measly two decades of life!"

"..."

Though Lancelot remained silent, her displeased expression was evident. Clearly, Ren's mockery had deeply offended them both. But Guinevere wasn't done venting.

"Chasing after a woman who clearly wants nothing to do with you, then calling yourself a Casanova? What a stubborn, selfish, shameless man!"
