They laughed and talked well into the night, and Kara realized how much she had missed them. These were her first real friends, and having them here felt like a blessing she didn't know she needed.
"So, are you dating Rai?" Kara teased, making Dolly blush furiously.
"He hasn't asked me yet," Dolly admitted, playing with the edge of her sleeve. "But he's called a few times. I just haven't answered."
Kara raised an eyebrow. "Why not? If you like him, Dolly, go with the flow. Don't overthink it."
Dolly hesitated, guilt flickering across her face. "I'll try," she murmured.
Kara smiled before turning to Erica. "What about you? Are you going to the dance?"
Erica shook her head. "Nope. Social gatherings aren't my thing."
Kara squinted, noticing something peeking from Erica's collar. "Wait a second—is that a hickey?"
Erica flushed deep red and quickly pulled up her collar. "Oh my gosh, stop!"
