Chapter 5 - Chapter : 5 : Big News!

Shinji leaned back into the plush leather sofa, one leg casually crossed over the other, his arm draped along the backrest. Across from him, Hiro, his best friend and the company's manager, sat with an amused expression. The two of them had spent countless hours like this, talking about work, life, and everything in between.

"So… what are you going to do about it?" Hiro asked, turning his body slightly toward Shinji.

Shinji smirked. "As usual. Show them how good I am at this kind of stuff and pull it toward us."

Hiro chuckled, shaking his head. "You never worry, do you?"

"Nope." Shinji stretched his arms above his head, completely relaxed. "Not when I got such a cute spouse waiting for me at home."

Hiro rolled his eyes but grinned. "You sure love your husband."

Shinji's playful smirk softened into something more genuine. "More than my life."

Hiro blinked. He hadn't expected that kind of response. "Whoa, Shinji, I was just pulling your leg. Don't get all serious on me now."

Shinji shrugged. "I'm just telling the truth."

Hiro let out a small laugh, shaking his head. "You're hopeless."

For a moment, they just sat there, the usual sound of the office humming in the background. The faint clatter of keyboards, the muffled voices of employees on calls, the occasional ring of a phone. It was a normal workday—until Shinji suddenly stood up.

Hiro watched him curiously, noticing the way a small smile played at the corners of his lips.

"You know…" Shinji started, his voice unusually soft. "I'm going to be a father soon."

Hiro's eyebrows shot up. "Wait, what?"

Shinji turned to face him fully, his eyes shining with something rare—pure, unfiltered happiness. "Yumi just told me yesterday."

For a second, Hiro just stared. Then, realization dawned, and his entire face lit up. "Are you serious?!"

Shinji nodded.

Hiro jumped up from the sofa, grabbing Shinji's arm and shaking him slightly. "Dude! This is huge! Congratulations!"

Shinji chuckled. "Thanks."

Hiro grinned. "Drinks are on me today. You better not say no."

"This is the greatest gift he has given me since he became a blessing in my life," Shinji said, his face filled with pure joy. Shinji said.

But Hiro wasn't done. He turned on his heel and grabbed Shinji's wrist, practically dragging him toward the office door.

"What are you doing?" Shinji asked, raising an eyebrow.

Hiro didn't answer. Instead, he pushed open the glass door to the main office space. Rows of desks filled the floor, employees working diligently. A few glanced up as Hiro walked in, but most were still focused on their tasks.

Hiro clapped his hands together, his voice loud and commanding. "Alright, everyone! Eyes on me!"

Heads turned. A few people exchanged confused glances.

A young woman— a beta—tilted her head. "Sir, is something wrong?"

Hiro grinned. "Nope! In fact, it's the opposite!"

The murmuring started. People sat up straighter. Even those who were in the middle of a call quickly wrapped up.

Shinji sighed but didn't stop him.

Hiro threw an arm over Shinji's shoulder. "Our amazing boss, the guy who runs this whole tycoon of a company—he has some big news!"

The room was silent for a beat. Then someone spoke up. "What kind of news?"

Hiro's grin widened. "Shinji is gonna be a dad!"

Gasps. Whispers. A wave of excitement rushed through the office. Then, as if on cue, the entire staff erupted in cheers.

"Congratulations, sir!"

"That's amazing!"

"When's the baby coming?"

"Sir, do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet?"

Shinji laughed, holding up his hands. "Calm down, calm down! It's still early!"

But that didn't stop the flood of questions.

A young male beta from the finance department grinned. "Does that mean we're getting a company holiday when the baby is born?"

Laughter spread across the office.

Hiro nudged Shinji. "Hey, that's actually a great idea. Come on, boss, be generous."

Shinji smirked. "We'll see."

Another staff member, a omega female from HR, clasped her hands together. "Oh my gosh, Sir! Your spouse must be so happy!"

Shinji's expression softened again. "Yeah… he really is."

More congratulations, more laughter, more excited chatter.

Then, someone—probably one of the younger employees—shouted, "Speech! Speech!"

A few others joined in. "Yeah, speech!"

Shinji sighed dramatically. "You guys really won't let me go back to work, huh?"

"Nope!"

Hiro patted his back. "Go on, Shinji. Say something."

Shinji took a breath, then looked around at all of them. These people weren't just employees. They were the backbone of everything he built. They were the ones who worked day and night to make this company thrive. And now, they were celebrating with him—not just as workers, but as people who truly cared.

"I'll keep this short," Shinji started. "You all know I don't like long speeches."

Some chuckled.

"But… yeah. I'm gonna be a dad. It still feels a little unreal, to be honest. But knowing that I have all of you supporting me—just like always—means a lot."

He glanced at Hiro, who gave him a firm nod.

"So, thank you," Shinji continued. "For being here. For celebrating with me. And for making this company feel like more than just a workplace."

A wave of applause filled the air.

Hiro leaned in. "Now that's how a CEO gives a speech."

Shinji rolled his eyes, but he was smiling.

The celebration lasted a few more minutes before people finally settled down. Hiro clapped his hands once more. "Alright, alright, back to work, everyone! We can't let the boss get too soft!"

Laughter followed, but people did return to their desks, still whispering excitedly among themselves.

As Shinji and Hiro walked back to the office, Hiro smirked. "So… when's the baby shower?"

Shinji groaned. "One thing at a time, Hiro."

But even as he said it, he couldn't stop smiling.

In Shinji and Yumi's house...

Yumi stood in the kitchen, humming softly as he stirred the simmering pot on the stove. The warm aroma of spices filled the air, blending with the soft sounds of bubbling broth. It was Shinji's favorite—every dish on the table tonight was something he loved.

Yumi smiled to himself, placing a hand on his stomach. It was still flat, but he knew—deep inside him, life was growing. A tiny heartbeat, a tiny soul. Their child.

For the first time in his life, he felt truly happy being born an omega.

Before Shinji, it had been different. He used to hate it. He used to curse his fate, wishing he had been born anything else. The stares, the expectations, the way people treated him—it all made him resent his own existence. But Shinji had changed everything.

Shinji treated him like a person, not an omega. He never saw him as weak, never belittled him. Instead, he looked at Yumi like he was precious. Cherished. Loved.

Yumi sighed, feeling warmth spread through his chest.

Then, suddenly, his face turned red as a thought entered his mind.

Too bad he won't be able to have sex with me for a while…

His ears burned as he quickly shook his head.

Well… I will miss the feeling.

His blush deepened.

"I mean… I love everything about him, though," he mumbled under his breath. "Even if he teases me too much sometimes…"

He pouted at the thought. Shinji was always teasing him, making him flustered on purpose. He knew exactly which words to say, which looks to give, to make Yumi a blushing mess. And he enjoyed it too much.

Yumi puffed his cheeks but quickly sighed again. He couldn't even be mad.

His gaze softened.

"I hope he loves the food," he murmured, looking at the dishes he had carefully prepared. "It's all his favorite…"

He smiled.

He just wanted to see Shinji happy. That was enough for him.

Yumi's face turned red again as another thought slipped into his mind.

If Shinji can't use my… you know… then what if he tries something else?

His grip on the wooden spoon tightened as the blush spread down his neck.

He's always teasing me… He never gives up so easily…

Yumi groaned, covering his face with both hands.

"Ugh… why am I even thinking about this?!" he mumbled to himself.

But he knew Shinji too well. That man was shameless. Absolutely shameless.

If Shinji couldn't do one thing, he'd definitely find another way.

Yumi bit his lip.

Maybe he'll just tease me even more… He shuddered at the thought.

Or maybe he'll start touching me in other places.

His face burned.

What if—

He shook his head violently.

"No, no, no! I need to stop thinking about this!" he scolded himself. "I'm cooking! I should focus on that!"

But the image of Shinji's smirk wouldn't leave his mind. The way he would lean in close, whisper things in his ear, brush his fingers over his skin just to see him react.

"He really is a pervert, isn't he?" Yumi muttered, pouting a little as he turned down the stove.

But then a dangerous thought crept into his mind.

Wait… who was the real pervert here?

Shinji was the one who teased, sure. But wasn't he the one always reacting so easily? Blushing, getting worked up over a few words, melting whenever Shinji so much as looked at him a certain way?

He groaned, pressing his fingers against his temple.

"I swear, I'm worse than him," he admitted, covering his face with one hand.

But still, he couldn't help it. Just thinking about Shinji's voice, the way he'd smirk, the warmth of his hands—ugh, this wasn't fair. And now that sex was off the table, Shinji would probably try other things. The man never gave up, and he always found a way to fluster him.

"Knowing him… he's going to try something stupid," Yumi mumbled.

He could already imagine it. Shinji pretending to be all innocent, sneaking in some suggestive comment during dinner, watching him with that damn smirk when he got flustered. Or worse—him casually touching him, just because he knew Yumi couldn't handle it.

Yumi swallowed.

"Ugh, I hate him," he grumbled. "But I love him… but I hate him!"

Yumi huffed, placing the lid on the pot a little too aggressively. His cheeks were still warm, and his thoughts weren't helping at all.

"Ugh, I need to stop thinking about this," he mumbled, turning to grab the plates.

But his mind wouldn't let it go.

He groaned, pressing his forehead against the counter.

Why did he marry such a menace?

But then again… it wasn't like he hated it.

His fingers absently traced small circles on his stomach. Their child was growing inside him.

Shinji had walked into his life, flipped everything upside down, and made him realize.

Now, here he was, cooking dinner, waiting for his husband to come home, carrying the child of the man who loved him more than anything in the world.

And yet, despite all that love and tenderness, Shinji was still an absolute pain in the ass.

Yumi sighed. "He's going to make fun of me again, isn't he?"

He could already picture it. Shinji walking through the door, loosening his tie, giving him that slow, knowing smirk. Then he'd say something dumb, something suggestive, just to watch him get all flustered.

"Welcome home, babe. Miss me?" Shinji would say in that smooth voice of his.

And then, before he could even answer, he'd lean in too close—too warm, too intoxicating.

Maybe he'd trail a finger down Yumi's back, lean into his ear and whisper, "You know, just because we can't do it properly doesn't mean I can't make you feel good in other ways."

Yumi smacked himself in the forehead. "Ugh! Stop thinking about it!"

Why was his brain like this?

No, why was he like this?

Shinji was the one who teased, but wasn't he the one getting all worked up over it? Maybe he really was the real pervert here.

He pouted at the thought.

"That smug idiot is rubbing off on me."

But then, the sound of the front door unlocking snapped him out of his thoughts.

Crap.

Shinji was home.
