Chapter 137 - The City of Slaughter

To the west of the continent, a desolate and uninhabited wilderness!

This was an extremely barren place, with no signs of human activity for hundreds of miles. The most bustling spot was a small town, but even here, there were few decent people—only a group of vicious and ruthless individuals.

With a creak, a figure in a black robe pushed open the door of the only tavern in the town and walked in. After glancing around, the figure muttered to himself:

"This is the only tavern in the town. If I'm not mistaken, the entrance should be here..."

This figure in black was not Tang Hao or Tang San—it was Chen Yuan. He had come to the City of Slaughter for training and didn't bother dressing up. Underneath his black robe, he wore a practical martial outfit. The robe and outfit were both sturdy and stain-resistant, so even if they were covered in blood, it wouldn't be too noticeable.

As Chen Yuan entered the tavern, the thugs drinking inside all turned to look at him. Seeing his young and handsome face, they were initially surprised but soon began to laugh and mock him without restraint.

"Look at this young brat! Shouldn't you be at home drinking milk? How dare you come here alone? You must not know how to write the word 'death'!"

"He's a pretty one, even prettier than some women. I wonder how he'd compare to them in bed!"

"..."

The tavern was filled with vulgar and obscene remarks, but Chen Yuan ignored them all. These people were already as good as dead—there was no need to waste time on them.

He walked straight to the bar and looked at the bartender behind the counter. Without wasting words, he said directly:

"Open the entrance to the City of Slaughter."

Hearing this, the bartender's smile turned cold. While wiping a glass, he replied indifferently:

"Customer, I'm just a bartender. I only serve drinks. What would you like? How about a Bloody Mary?"

A Bloody Mary was essentially a cup of blood—poisoned blood, at that. Chen Yuan had no habit of drinking blood, let alone poisoned blood.

Chen Yuan didn't respond to the bartender's question. Instead, he repeated his demand:

"Open the entrance to the City of Slaughter."

Hearing this again, the bartender rolled his eyes. If this guy couldn't even handle a Bloody Mary, what business did he have trying to enter the City of Slaughter? The bartender waved his hand dismissively, as if shooing away a stray dog:

"Get out of here if you're not drinking. I only sell alcohol here."

Not just the bartender, but the thugs around the tavern also began to mock Chen Yuan even louder. Some even stood up, holding their Bloody Marys, ready to show Chen Yuan what a real Bloody Mary was.

Chen Yuan didn't say another word. He reached out from under his black robe, grabbed the edge of the bar, and with a single arm, flipped it over. The bartender, caught off guard by the sudden force, stumbled backward.

The once-calm bartender now wore a look of shock. He pointed at Chen Yuan, his face filled with disbelief:

"You lunatic! What do you think you're doing?"

Chen Yuan ignored him and walked to where the bar had been, searching for the entrance to the City of Slaughter.

The bartender was nearly driven mad. A cruel smile spread across his face:

"He's broken the rules! Whoever kills him will get an invitation to the City of Slaughter!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the thugs in the tavern could no longer sit still. They all wanted to enter the City of Slaughter, but it wasn't a place just anyone could enter. Without an invitation, no one could get in.

Now, hearing that killing Chen Yuan would grant them an invitation, they all drew their weapons and approached with sinister grins.

One burly man, wielding a large ghost-headed blade, charged forward first. His face was twisted into a vicious smile, his eyes filled with greed. He raised his blade and swung it down, laughing wildly:

"Hahaha! The invitation to the City of Slaughter is mine!"

Chen Yuan's reaction was calm. He silently thought:

"Mirror Pupils! Phasing!!"

In an instant, his eyes shimmered with a silver light, and his vision expanded to a 360-degree view. Every movement of everyone around him was now within his sight.

The burly man's blade swung down, passing straight through Chen Yuan's body. The force of the swing caused the man to stumble. Instead of feeling triumphant, he was filled with shock. The blade hadn't hit anything—it felt like cutting through air.

The man looked at Chen Yuan again, his face a mix of confusion and disbelief:

"An illusion? A fake?"

Before he could react, the "illusion" reached out, grabbed his wrist, and twisted it with a sharp motion. The man screamed in pain as his wrist was snapped.

At the same time, Chen Yuan snatched the ghost-headed blade from the man's hand and slashed it across his throat, ending his life.

This bizarre scene stunned the onlookers, but the promise of an invitation to the City of Slaughter had driven them into a frenzy. Losing all reason, they roared and charged at Chen Yuan with their weapons.

Chen Yuan moved with calm precision. He seemed to exist between reality and illusion. When attacked, all blows passed through his body. But when he struck, the ghost-headed blade in his hand claimed lives with brutal efficiency.

With the Mirror Pupils' guidance, Chen Yuan anticipated every move of his attackers. In no time, he had slaughtered them all.

The tavern floor was littered with corpses, the ground soaked in blood, and the air filled with the stench of death.

Chen Yuan frowned. This was the first time he had killed so many people, but since they had tried to kill him, he had no qualms about ending their lives.

The bartender was utterly dumbfounded. He finally realized that a true madman, a true killer, had entered his tavern today. Such a person was indeed worthy of an invitation to the City of Slaughter. But why hadn't he drunk the Bloody Mary...?

Ignoring the bartender, Chen Yuan dropped the ghost-headed blade. Following his senses, he found the spot he was looking for, raised his foot, and stomped down with force.

With a loud crash, the floor shattered, revealing a dark hole beneath. A cold, sinister aura emanated from the hole, as if it led to another world.

Chen Yuan's expression turned serious. This was the entrance to the City of Slaughter. A look of determination flashed in his eyes. Since he had made his decision, there was no point in hesitating.

In an instant, Chen Yuan jumped into the hole. Although he had the ability to fly, he chose to freefall. As he fell, he felt a strange force enveloping him.

That force was likely the power of a domain. The City of Slaughter's restriction on using spirit skills was due to the influence of this domain.

Chen Yuan murmured:

"No spirit skills, huh? City of Slaughter, I'm here..."
