With the first squawk of dawn, Claudia snuck out of the mansion. She could hear Lucien and Emilia bicker while she made her way out.
"You shouldn't have come back," Lucien roared, and Emilia murmured a few words. She was in a hurry with no time to listen. Making her way out through the hidden passage, she soon got a cab and off she went. The outskirts of the city were cold and windy.
The air was fresh with the touch of freshly baked buns. Claudia sat at the back of the cab, staring down at her watch and counting the seconds. She was not used to waiting this long, but now she was the one in need, and patience was a virtue. The sun rose, but still there was no sign of them. Anxiety soon crept in, but Claudia refused to step back without a word.
