Chapter 2 - me..?

it started as an ordinary night, one that stretched endlessly into the dark silence of my home. The clock ticked with a steady rhythm, the air heavy with the scent of old books and dust. i was alone, just as i liked . But then, the first whisper came.

It wasn't clear at first, like a voice muffled by a distant storm, but i felt it—deep in my bones. The sound seemed to come from within the walls, creeping into my ears as if someone, or something, was just behind me .i looked around, expecting to find someone there, but all i saw was the flickering light of the lamp.

i assumed it was just mymind playing tricks, but the whispers didn't stop.

the whispers grew louder, clearer. They no longer seemed like faint murmurs; they were distinct words, calling me . Begging for my attention. The sound was now coming from the corners of the room. i tried to ignore it. The walls seemed to pulse with each word, each phrase that escaped into the air.

"You can't escape," they said. The voice was distorted, as if a thousand voices were trying to speak at once, blending into a horrible cacophony.

everything in the room shifted. The shadows that once stayed still now seemed to move on their own, creeping along the floor like dark tendrils reaching for me....? The lamp above flickered, casting strange, twisted shapes on the walls. i felt a chill in the air, colder than ice. A new voice, sharper and more familiar, whispered my...? name.

"Why are you running from YOU?"

i froze, my heart thumping loudly in your chest. i couldn't place the voice, but it felt... wrong. i could feel its breath on my neck, even though nothing was there.

The walls seemed to breathe, and the temperature in the room plummeted. Every time you looked away, icould feel eyes watching me, but when you turned to look, there was nothing. It wasn't just the walls anymore. The floorboards creaked with heavy footsteps, pacing around me, as if something was circling me, waiting.

Suddenly, a cold hand brushed against my shoulder, sending a shock of icy fear coursing through my body. i whipped around, heart pounding, but once again, there was nothing. Just the silence... and the whispers.

But this time, the whispers weren't the only thing you could hear. From the darkness, a low, guttural voice began to speak, its words dripping with malice. "I'm here."

The room went silent. Too silent. The walls had stopped whispering, but something... else... was speaking now. i could feel it. It was as if the very space around me had transformed, becoming something alive, breathing with a rhythm that wasn't my own.

"You thought you were alone, didn't YOU?" The voice sounded so close, so familiar. It was almost as if it was coming from inside my...? head now. i felt a sickening crawl of dread spreading throughout your body.

i turned to find myself face to face with the thing that had been whispering to me..?. The shadows themselves had taken form, twisting into a grotesque, human-like figure—its face a nightmare of distortion and shifting features. It was... me...

"Why are you hiding from me, arya?" the figure growled, its voice a rasping echo of my own.

i stumbled back, breath coming in short gasps. No, this can't be happening.

The figure smiled, its mouth stretching wider than humanly possible. "You can never escape me. I've always been YOU."

The walls began to close in, the air suffocating. It's breathing now—my breathing—was all i could hear, as i realized, with an icy dread, that the figure wasn't just speaking to me. It was speaking about me... It knew everything about me.... It knew my name. my fears. my desires.

And it had always been me.....
