Just as Luden is about to explore more, the door opens and a man in his thirties comes in a white lab coat. He has black hair, a black eye, and pale skin. He grabs the memo left by the nurses by the beds and grabs his tablet and checks a few things. Then he turns to Luden and says,. "Hello, little one, I'm your doctor. I need to ask a few questions so I can further assess your situation."
"Do you feel any pain right now, and if yes, where?" asks the doctor.
"I felt pain in my hand, and I felt itchy all over my body," says Luden.
"Hmm, your right hand, yes, that's normal because we tried to heal it earlier. As for the itch, it is because your cells are trying to repair your body. Is there anywhere else?" Ask the doctor to make sure.
"No," answers Luden.
"Good, I need to fill out a few forms. I just need to know what your age is and what your name is," says the doctor while fetching his tablet.
"I don't know my age, but my name is Luden Le Grey." answers Luden
"Luden Le Grey. OK, since you don't know your age, I will put 6 and a half because your skeleton map shows that you are that age. As for your treatment, it is almost done; it's just that your hand and eye can't be healed because they need a high-level healer, and they won't help because it will take days to heal, and to be frank, we can't afford them." said the Doctor while trying to be frank as he could
"You will stay for a few days here until that vindicator comes to pick you up. That will be all. Take a rest, and I will come to check on you again tomorrow. If you need anything, click the buttons on your right, and an assistant will come to help you."
"Thank you for helping me, doctor," says Luden sincerely.
"It's nothing, my dear; it's my job to help people," said the doctor while getting up.
After that, the doctor left, and an hour later, Seraph came to take Luden out to shop. Seraph asked, "How are you now, little light?"
"I'm better, thank you, mister." Seraph smiled warmly and replied, "I'm glad to hear that. Let's go pick out some new clothes for you, shall we, and some stuff for your academy, and I have a nice surprise for you too."
Seraph takes Luden out of the hospital to go shopping, and he takes him to a few shops to buy some clothes for him, and finally he takes him to a special shop.
"Okay, our next stop is a special place that will intrigue you."
Luden got curious; soon they got on the bike, and Seraph drove for 15 minutes when they stopped in front of a small shop that had a cogs logo in the front. Seraph took Luden in, and as soon as they got inside, Luden was greeted by a small shop that was displaying different kinds of metallic arms of different sizes and shapes. The shop was a small one but had a vibe that belonged to the old steam era; it showed age and style as if it was a place that had been open for a very long time.
At the front desk was an old man with one glass, with different kinds of tattoos and a metallic arm. Playing around with an old puzzle, he looks at those who came and notices it's Seraph.
"What brings you to my humble shop again, little Vindicator?" But he soon notices Luden and his missing arm and smiles. "So this little champ needs a new arm, heh?"
Seraph walks to the front desk. "How have you been, old Tolso? Anything new I should know?"
"Nope, the last thing we know is you guys going ape shit and killing everyone in the city." Said Tolso with a grin.
Seraph chuckled. "Just another day in the life of a Vindicator, I suppose."
Tolso raised an eyebrow. "Well, let's hope today is a bit less eventful then."
"You mean cleaning up vermin, little light? Here, want a new arm? Make it as sophisticated as you can and put it on that account."
"Oh?" said Tolso while checking Luden again. "Well, little guy, come with me to the back so we can measure you."
Luden nods and follows him.
Tolso turns to Seraph and asks, "Why does this kid look so traumatized? What did you guys do to him?"
"It's a long story, Tolso. For another time, just finish quickly. I have another place to take him." Said Seraph while trying to change the subject.
"Oh, escorted by you?" said Tolso with a grin.
Soon, Tolso brings Luden to the back, where there is a workshop. Inside the workshop, there are a few guys working on making a few arms. Luden watches in awe as the men work diligently, his eyes wide with curiosity. While Tolso is having a proud smile at Luden's reaction
"Hey Grid, take this kid's measurements and preferences; it's for an S-class model," he started shouting once he was inside and ordered a tall bald man wearing two goggles with different lenses for him to use on it. and one arm just like the old man.
"Stop shouting, old man; I can hear just fine, you know." Said Grid, then he turned to Luden. "Okay, little champ, come and sit here, pointing to a chair next to him. Luden hesitated for a moment before cautiously making his way over to the chair, eyeing the tall bald man warily. Grid flashed him a reassuring smile before getting to work on taking his measurements and discussing his preferences for the S-class model arm.
Lduen compels and answers his questions. Grid uses different tools to measure Luden's right arm.
"You know, having a good arm saves me a lot of trouble. and makes it better for the measurement. I lost my arm when I was an adventurer. What about you?" Says Grid, trying to make Luden less nervous.
"It was cut by someone." Luden replied quietly, avoiding eye contact. Grid nodded understandingly, realizing there was a deeper story behind Luden's injury. He decided to change the subject and focus on the task at hand.
"Well, it's not a loss for us, you see. We can do whatever we want with our new arms. Look at mine; I custom-made it to do just what I want, which is helping me in this work. Besides that, you can add the color you want, the metal you want, any sticker you want, or paint it. There are very expensive arms that can use modules like the ones we use on chips to add extra ability to our arms. like a fire user adding a fire amplifier module to his arm, making his spells more powerful and stuff. So it's something to look forward to when you want to upgrade in the future," said Grid while giving Luden things to look forward to.
"So, little champ, what do you usually like to do?" asks Grey, trying to know what Luden needs his arm for best.
"To hunt and build stuff from scratch, I use different kinds of tools." Said Luden
"I see; would you like to have anything special added to the arm?" asking to get more info
"Just make it easier to climb trees and other stuff and easy to maneuver around the forest." Says Luden, remembering how hard it is now to climb.
"Do you have any color preference?"
Luden pauses. "Can it be black and white?"
"Of course it can." Says Grid with a grin.
"Alright, that would be all. You did great, little guy." After finishing everything
"OK, we got everything; it'll be ready in a week. Great job, little champ! Your new arm will be ready in a week with the added features for climbing and maneuvering easily in the forest, colored in black and white as you requested." Said Grid while hitting his chest to assure Luden,
Meanwhile, Seraph and Tolso are in the back talking.
"What is up with the kid? Why is he so lifeless?" asks Tolso
"A lot of terrible things have happened to him so far, and he is just on alert all the time; he doesn't know who to trust yet," said Seraph with a sigh.
"Do those cleanups have anything to do with him?" asked Tolso with a grin on his face
"That's a secret, and it's better for you not to know more," said Seraph. Finally, he sees Luden coming and tries to run away from the old man's constant questions.
"Thanks for everything, Grid. Thanks, Tolso. Catch you later." Said Seraph while running outside.
"See you later, cold brat," said Tolso to Seraph. Seraph walked away, leaving Tolso and Grid behind. Tolso turned to Grid and said, "I wonder what secrets that kid is hiding."
"Beats me, and you really are nosy." Said Grid, rolling his eye.
"Ok, get back to work, you bald brat." Snapped Tolso
"Why the hell do you call everyone a brat?" says Grid under his breath. Grid shook his head and went back to clean up the mess.
