Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: White Heat

After descending the stairs, Amadi who had regained his radiant smile, and Levi arrived on the first floor.

However, before they could take action against the Theosophy Order– or rather, the Demoness Sect, they were met with a scene of utter carnage.

Blood was splattered across the walls outside the staircase, and dismembered limbs, as if cut by sharp blades, were scattered across the hallway like discarded stones.

The floor was covered in a layer of blue frost, and though the air didn't carry the stench of burning flesh, both Levi and Amadi's spiritual senses told them that the odor of charred bodies lingered invisibly.

Levi remained silent, his expression unchanged. Amadi's bright smile however, twisted into a calm yet sinister grin, sending chills down the spine.

Before either could speak, a bone-chilling soft laugh drew their attention to an empty spot in front of them.

Before the owner of the alluring laugh could speak, Levi struck first. With a wave of his hand, a mist surged toward the blood-soaked area.

As the figure of the 'Witch' began to materialize within the mist, Levi made a sharp gesture.

Amadi, though more graceful in his movements, also activated his mystical abilities. In an instant, the mist in the room dissipated, and an invisible yet faintly discernible wind blade shot toward the figure with a piercing screech.

At the same time, a blue light flashed slower than the wind blade, but struck the figure first.

The sound of shattering glass echoed through the silent battlefield, now occupied by only three individuals...

A figure slowly emerged. If Florent had been present, he would have easily recognized her as the maid, Hedelin... a woman whose beauty, though not breathtaking, was undeniably captivating.

Despite nearly being killed, Hedelin's face still bore a sweet smile, "How heartless, gentlemen. Aren't the men of Trier known for their chivalry? Why are the two of you so cruel?"

Levi didn't immediately attack...

Instead, he spoke calmly, "You're no ordinary 'Witch', are you? I've encountered Witches before, and even if you've fully digested your potion, you shouldn't have been able to break free from the lightning's paralysis so quickly and use a substitution technique to evade the wind blade..."

Hedelin smiled faintly, "Do you not think I might have used the substitution technique as soon as I saw the mist? Why do you doubt me? Well, let me answer your question."

She paused, then said, "You're right. I'm no longer just a 'Witch'. I am a 'Demoness of Pleasure'!"

At the same time, a sizzling sound filled the air around Levi and Amadi, as if something invisible was burning around them.

Hedelin giggled, "Gentlemen, are you so wary of me? Am I that terrifying?"

Faced with the now revealed 'Demoness of Pleasure'sʼ relentless attempts to charm them, Amadi suddenly adopted the tone of a playboy:

"Ah, miss, you are truly beautiful. Even the crimson moon pales in comparison to your radiance. Forgive my lack of words, but if you're willing, perhaps we could sit down, share a drink, and converse under the moonlight."

Hedelin raised an eyebrow, amused, "Do you really intend to share a drink with your enemy under the moon?"

Before she could finish her sentence, a divine light erupted, as if a god had descended. The brilliance illuminated everything, leaving no shadows.

It was as if the sun had fallen into the villa, tearing through the darkness with pure radiance that purified even the most vile things, including the 'Demoness of Pleasure' before them.

Hedelin's eyes welled with tears, not from fear but from the sheer intensity of the light.

The sound of shattering mirrors and snapping wooden staffs echoed around her, but it was futile. Despite being a Sequence 6 'Demoness of Pleasure', she couldn't resist the light's overwhelming power, which sought to dissolve her into its purity.

Levi and Amadi, though also affected, squinted their eyes, gradually adapting to the brightness to avoid being blinded...

When their vision cleared slightly, they were shocked to find that Hedelin was still alive, though she appeared dazed and defenseless, standing motionless.

Levi and Amadi didn't speak. Levi's left index finger continuously touched the ring on his right hand, while Amadi gripped the 'Dagger of Secrecy', ready to make a cut. Though the dagger had no offensive capabilities, the Abraham family's predecessors had devised ways to turn the ability to open doors into a weapon.

Regaining her senses, Hedelin turned her head and called out, "I know you're here. You sensed my threads detecting you. Why not show yourself and send these two to meet the 'Primordial One'?"

Behind her, space twisted, and a curvaceous beauty appeared. Though veiled and cloaked, her alluring figure was unmistakable.

Levi and Amadi, momentarily distracted by the new arrival, quickly regained their focus.

"No rush," the interloper said with a soft laugh, "We'll all meet the 'Primordial One' eventually. It's just a matter of time. As for these two, their time has come..."

Hedelin pouted, "Did you block that semi-divine attack? I don't believe it."

The interloper chuckled, "I don't have the power to block such an attack so easily, but with some tricks, as the strongest below the demigod level, I can manage it without much trouble..."

As the two foes bantered freely, Levi and Amadi, preparing for their next move, were suddenly interrupted by their own coughing...

Though their attacks hadn't backfired, their bodies were now wracked with uncontrollable coughing fits, rendering them unable to act.

The coughing grew louder, tears and saliva streaming down their faces as the fits became unbearable. They clutched their chests trying to alleviate the pain, but it was futile.

Hedelin pouted playfully, "Stacy, don't kill them. I want to take revenge myself."

Without waiting for Stacy's response, Hedelin stepped forward, a spear of ice forming in her hand.

Her radiant smile returned as she said, "Well then, goodbye gentlemen. It's time to meet the Primordial One!"
