They had never heard such a startling revelation.
"Is the news reliable, Brownie? You're saying... the World Government is still the master of the ancient weapon Uranus?" Admiral Kong asked in disbelief, leaning forward, tension rippling through the room.
"Yes. While even I, as Marine Fleet Admiral, had no prior knowledge, the intel from the World Government is credible. Otherwise, the Rocks Pirates' top officers wouldn't have taken such a massive risk by attacking the Holy Land Mariejois just to obtain the Eternal Pose to the Valley of the Gods," Brownie said solemnly.
Only the Five Elders and the true sovereign, Imu, have access to that level of information. Not even high-ranking Marines like Brownie had previously known about Uranus.
But now, with the threat of the Rocks Pirates escalating, the World Government had no choice but to share the truth with Marine leadership.
"In other words... the Rocks Pirates' next target is the Valley of the Gods," Sengoku muttered, hands clasped beneath his chin, expression dark.
"That's correct. The World Government has issued an emergency directive—we are to prepare for war. A confrontation with the Rocks is inevitable," Brownie replied, his voice heavy with the weight of the moment.
Although Brownie wasn't sure what the World Government intended to do with Uranus—assuming they found it—one thing was clear: they wanted the Marines prepared to confront the Rocks head-on.
"If Rocks really moves on the Valley of the Gods... then this is our best chance to wipe them out," Admiral Zhenwu said, his voice calm but resolute. "With the power of Uranus on our side, even monsters like Kaido, Big Mom, and Whitebeard can't resist."
Against the full force of the Rocks Pirates, the Navy alone would normally stand little chance. But if they could harness Uranus, the most elusive of the three ancient weapons, the tide of war could shift decisively.
Kong nodded. "With Uranus in our hands, we can eliminate not just the Rocks Pirates, but every major pirate crew in the New World. The Roger Pirates, the Wald Pirates—they'd all fall before us!"
A confident smile crept across Sengoku's face. "A single ancient weapon with world-destroying potential… If we wield that power, no pirate crew can survive. The age of pirates will end before it even begins."
But as their enthusiasm grew, Brownie's face remained unreadable. After a long silence, he finally shook his head.
"Don't get your hopes up," Brownie said gravely. "Uranus likely won't be usable in this coming battle."
"What?! Why not?" Tsuru asked, blinking in confusion. "Did the World Government refuse to authorize its deployment?"
"No, it's not that," Brownie replied. "While they are certain that Uranus is hidden somewhere within the Valley of the Gods, it hasn't been located yet."
When the Five Elders confirmed Uranus's presence in the Valley, they immediately dispatched elite forces and agents to search for it.
However, despite scouring the region, no trace of Uranus had been found.
"They haven't found it yet? But I thought the World Government possessed it," Zhenwu said, frowning deeply.
"The information might be accurate, but Uranus is well hidden, possibly buried or sealed deep within the Valley. It's a relic of the Ancient Kingdom, and its exact resting place seems to have been forgotten over the centuries," Brownie explained.
"Then in the upcoming confrontation, we'll have to rely entirely on our own strength?" Sengoku said grimly.
"Yes. Unless Uranus is found in time, we can't count on it," Brownie confirmed.
Silence fell upon the room. What they thought would be an easy victory now looked like a grueling battle.
Their original confidence—bolstered by the thought of using an ancient weapon—was now replaced with a growing sense of urgency and unease.
"…Pull yourselves together!" Brownie suddenly barked, slamming his fist on the table. His voice was sharp, full of conviction. "We are the Marines—we've spent years building our strength. We're not the same force we were a decade ago. Even without ancient weapons, we'll bring the Rocks Pirates down!"
"That's right," Zhenwu added, standing tall. "We've trained for this. We've grown. The Marines won't lose to a pirate crew—even one as monstrous as Rocks'."
"Then it's settled," said Admiral Black Bat. "We mobilize everything. Prepare for war in the Valley of the Gods. This time, the Rocks Pirates… will fall!"
---
Meanwhile, aboard the Rocks Pirates' main ship…
A large number of pirates stood gathered on the deck, waiting anxiously. They had been waiting for hours, eyes fixed on the sea horizon.
"Why hasn't Captain Ayr returned yet?" one pirate asked, fidgeting nervously.
"I don't know. Do you think he and the others managed to get the Eternal Pose to the Valley of the Gods from Mariejois?" another replied.
"Even if they succeeded… the Holy Land is no joke. It's crawling with powerful enemies. There had to be casualties," a third muttered.
"Yeah, Mariejois isn't just a castle. It's the beating heart of the World Government. The Elders, CP0, and maybe even the mysterious Imu himself—they're all there," someone added in a low voice.
The tension among the pirates was palpable. It had been too long since Ayr, Whitebeard, Golden Lion, Kaido, and Big Mom left. Many feared the worst.
"Tch. Ayr's probably dead in the Holy Land," Captain John scoffed, sitting lazily on the ship's railing with his arms crossed.
He still held a grudge. Ayr had scammed him out of 2 billion berries and three Devil Fruits.
And thanks to Ayr's stupid gamble with Whitebeard, Linlin, and Shiki, John had lost another 2.1 billion.
If Ayr was dead, he wouldn't shed a tear. In fact, he was hoping for it.
"Heh. They've been gone too long. Either they failed or got themselves killed," Silver Axe added coldly.
"Lucky we weren't picked for this mission," Ochoku chimed in, grinning. "If we had gone with them, we might've shared their fate."
When Rocks announced that whoever retrieved the Eternal Pose would get first rights to the Valley of the Gods' treasure, everyone had been eager to go.
But only Ayr's group was chosen.
Those left behind were furious… but now, they found satisfaction in the idea that the others had perished.
"It's ironic," Ochoku laughed. "The ones who raced toward glory might've ended up dead in the process."
Unbeknownst to them, however, Ayr and the others were already returning—alive, and successful.
The final showdown loomed on the horizon.
