Chapter 10 - Multiversal portal

It's been two weeks now since I left the Nether.

I went there, I saw, I conquered. I got exactly what I needed in addition to making progress, not just mentally, but physically.

As strange as it may sound, after that first unbearable burn, each new one seemed… more bearable. As if my body was adapting. The pain was still there, but less intense. My wounds, too, were healing faster.

I guess I'm adapting a little, in any case, I'm quite proud of what I accomplished that day…

These past two weeks have been fairly peaceful, mostly taking a long rest. I spent whole days wandering the mountains or sunbathing on the beach.

This world is entirely mine after all, and I have all the time in the world to enjoy it…

Leaving my house today, I headed to the river where I created my field.I acquired melon seeds just yesterday in a mineshaft while mining.

I went mining to find enough resources to make a full diamond armor set, because yes, I managed to upgrade my libraries around my enchantment table, and now that I've reached the maximum level, I wanted to re-enchant everything.

I grabbed some bone meal to see if I could get melons right away, that would allow me to avoid waiting longer to make healing potions. These potions are too useful to pass up, and before going into another world, I absolutely need them.

Once at my field, I planted the melon seeds, leaving space for them to grow.

I planted my three melon seeds to see what would happen, then took out the bone meal and…

How am I supposed to use it again? I used right-click in the game, but here… well, it's just powder.

Taking a handful in my hand, I threw it on the melon plant, using up 1 bone meal.

Then… nothing, at least nothing visible, the ground was still flat… wait, something's wrong.

Blinking, I watched the ground closely… there! A subtle movement, but definitely present… Oh, another one!

The ground on the block started to tremble lightly, then intensified as, all of a sudden, like magic, a plant popped up from the ground, just a few centimeters high but definitely there!

"Oh wow… It really works. I imagine how many worlds I could help with this… well, when I get back from my exploration, I know what I'll do … probably a mob farm" I muttered to myself, happy with this discovery.

Using my bone meal again, the plant grew, and I continued using it until the plant turned yellow and was about a meter tall.

I then repeated the process for my other two seeds and waited…

And after about an hour, one of the plants grew a melon extremely quickly, landing on the adjacent block, covering an area of 1 meter by 1 meter.

I was quite surprised by the size of the thing, afterall its one meter on one meter which is, by common standard, insane. I then took the melon and then headed home to make my potion.

Once at home, I went straight to my brewing stand. I put it in my storage room, just like my enchantment table, now at max level.

I could've built a special room for it… but since I'm going to build my castle anyway and move from here, I didn't see much point.

Anyway… placing water bottles in the brewing stand, I followed the game process, using a golden melon and blaze powder, and created a set of 3 healing potions fairly quickly.

Potions will be handy, especially in an unknown world, plus I can always sell them for some money to get some more mods, then with the mods I'll sell even more special things and like a good capitalist I'll grow my multiversal business … I should probably hire some employees in the future … meh I'm not quite right there anyways.

I spent some time reviewing my equipment, and now, with healing potions, I'll have more safety before exploring the multiverse… but that's not all!

I also upgraded my diamond armor. I have a chestplate with Protection IV, the rest of my armor with Protection III, and boots with Feather Falling, useful If I … well, fall.

I made myself a bow too. Unfortunately, I don't have an Infinity bow yet, but I have Power IV and Flame on it. My sword is Sharpness IV, and my pickaxe Efficiency IV as well.

I didn't have enough XP to upgrade it further, but I already feel very confident with what I have.

All in all, I've made great progress, and it's time for me to take the next step, finish this portal, and set off to conquer the multiverse!

Leaving my house, I heard a strange noise… followed by words? Wait, what?

"Hrmm (villager noise), I've never seen a house like this… well, let's see if I can sell what I have."

Taking a few steps, I rounded the corner of my house, and that's when I saw him.

A man? Creature? Two meters tall, my height, wearing a blue outfit, with features out of the ordinary.

A large nose in the middle of the face, small eyes, no visible mouth… it's a villager in the flesh. With him were two llamas on leashes, carrying various goods on their backs.

'Is this the one I heard talking? … so they're alive and intelligent after all' I thought as I observed him, locking eyes with him… or her for all I know.

"Hrmm, good day adventurer, let me introduce myself, I'm Baltazar, a wandering merchant and seller of exotic, and rare items from this world, items you probably won't find by yourself given how rare they are " he said in a monotone, dreary voice before continuing.

Seeing my kinda shocked face, he herm another time before reassuring me "Don't worry, I only wish to trade … I came across your humble home on my journey. Would you like to see what I have on my hands ?"

I stood there in silence for a moment, this was the first time I'd seen a villager, and more importantly… it's been over a month since I've seen anyone else.

"E- Erm, hello Baltazar, I'm Urek, and yeah, I'm interested, what do you have?"

Hearing my response, he made one llama step forward, rummaging through a pouch before replying in a deep tone, "Hrmm, all sorts of things, like…"

He pulled out a block from his pouch.

"Blocks, here- coral…" then he grabbed other items before showing me seeds.

"… and finally, beetroot and melon seeds, rare to find in this region, Hrmm."

I wasn't particularly interested in his goods, except for the beetroot seeds, which did catch my attention. "Your beetroot seeds interest me, what do you want in exchange ?"

He then looked at me strangely, staring at me like I'm some dumb bitch, before murmuring to himself, "… just like…" before responding, "Emeralds, of course! I don't accept trade and anyway, it's the official currency."

'Damn, I don't have emeralds, maybe he could buy something from me?'

"And you don't buy anything? I've got quite a few interesting things."

"Hrmm no, I only sell, well I see you don't have anything to buy with, so I'll be leaving…"

"Dude, how do you expect me to buy something if you won't even accept what I have to at least get some emerald ?" I asked, not understanding why I couldn't just trade him his seeds, I even have gold !

"Hrmm, it makes me remember… that's also what she said… you need to go to a village for that."

'"She said…?" I frowned. What's he talking about? Who is 'she'?'

"W- wait," I interrupted him as he was already leaving, "What do you mean by she said? And also, where is the nearest village? I've seen none."

Turning around, he faced me. "Well, that's a professional secret, and the nearest village is in this direction, 15,000 meters away. Now, goodbye."

'Weird… anyway, at least I know where to find a village. It will certainly save me some time. Let's not get side tracked, I need to make this fucking portal baby !'

Heading back to my underground bunker, I entered and closed the door behind me, before placing the blocks necessary to form the portal.

It took me some time, but I'm here, and now I'm ready to step into another world…

I approached the flint and steel to the portal. As soon as the spark flew, an explosion of yellow light filled the room. A shiver ran down my spine.

Slowly, the energy swirled, and the portal opened in front of me, vibrating with a golden glow.

It was yellow, just like the surrounding blocks, vaguely resembling the Nether portal, but… well, yellow.

Stepping into it, I motivated myself out loud, "Alright, here we go, this is my beginning!"

Then the portal engulfed me.
