Chapter 1 - Wedding Day

The Wedding That Wasn't Meant to BeThe hall was decorated with elegance. White lilies and golden ribbons adorned the massive pillars, while delicate chandeliers cast a warm glow over the guests gathered to celebrate what everyone believed to be a perfect union. Lianxu—known as Lia to everyone who loved her—stood at the entrance, her hands trembling slightly despite her firm grip on the bouquet. She looked breathtaking. A custom-made ivory dress hugged her frame perfectly, designed by her own hands under the name L&X. The lace detailing, the delicate embroidery, and the flowing silk all reflected her passion and dedication. But today, even her most beautiful creation couldn't hide the heaviness pressing down on her chest.Ryan stood at the altar, his gaze fixed straight ahead, his expression unreadable. He looked handsome in his classic black tuxedo, but his stiffness was noticeable. Lia knew why. He had made his feelings clear from the start."Lia, I can't give you what you deserve. My heart doesn't belong to you.""I know. But let's make this work... for our families."Lia had accepted her fate. Not because she was weak, but because she was strong enough to live with the pain of loving someone who couldn't love her back. She had convinced herself that this marriage was just another challenge she needed to endure. The ceremony was brief, the vows spoken with politeness rather than passion. Ryan's voice was cold, mechanical even. Lia couldn't blame him. He wasn't cruel; he was just honest. But honesty had never hurt this much before. The wedding reception was a blur. Lia's smile was perfect, her laughter charming, her conversations pleasant. If anyone noticed the emptiness in her eyes, they didn't mention it. Ryan kept his distance, speaking only when necessary. Their friends and families beamed with happiness, utterly unaware of the silent war being waged within Lia's heart.Later that night, as Lia sat alone in her newly decorated bedroom, tears slipped down her cheeks. She clutched her dress tightly, her fingers pressing into the fabric like it was her only anchor."You're strong, Lia. You're strong." She repeated to herself like a mantra.Strong enough to accept the coldness in Ryan's eyes.Strong enough to sleep alone on her wedding night.Strong enough to live with the pain of loving him.And yet, no matter how many times she repeated those words, the tears didn't stop.
