The sword laws were pushed by Hou's willpower, funnelled into the space laws. The two clashed, the space warping the small blades. Each miss cut Hou's insides up.
It stung but Hou experienced far worse before, this was nothing to him. He continued to focus on redirecting the sword blades. Slowly, it worked.
The ring of space started to break apart into small, discreet parts. Each small blob was instantly absorbed by the Celestial Law Amplifying Physique. Slowly in the course of five days, he absorbed both the sword and space laws. Each time a sword laws missed it cut him but he also absorbed it, by the end, only a small amount of sword laws remained.
He could assimilate them easily and then go to the next spirits.
"So I've done atmosphere, liquid, sword and space. I think the closest laws now is the sun laws. Space, not just as the void where everything exists, but also the expanse above the skies where the sun rises."
"That makes sense, and the atmosphere. It might be the best choice, again remember though. It doesn't matter if it's the best or not, this is just an extra."
"I do, thank you master"
Hou flicked another spirit out of his quasi-Nascent Soul. It only took three days, resonating with the atmosphere and space laws, the sun spirit was absorbed quickly.
Next, Hou chose the growth spirit, with the logic that the sun facilitates growth, and it paid off. Again it only took three days to fully refine. Then the final he had was flight laws he was given in a spirit stone.
He cracked open the stone, yet only a small amount of laws were released, taking only a day to absorb. Compared to a spirit, there were very few laws.
Then Hou stood up in the cultivation room. He leant on a wall and stretched himself, as he did he talked to Yue.
"The final thing is something I have to do alone. I leave you my body, Master Yue."
"I'll make sure to keep it steady while you do it, if anything goes wrong with the healing spirit don't hesitate to fling it to me."
Hou nodded then he left his body. His quasi-Nascent Soul was reminiscent of a combination of all his identities. He had white hair like Saviour but on the left side it became red at the ends. This was like his form after Yue reformed his body, then on his right side it turned pink like Mo Haui's reformation.
His body was strange, young yet old. Strong yet weak. Combining the traits of all his different bodies at different stages in one. This was his true self, a man made of multiple identities and bodies.
Hou looked at himself but then nodded, he shouldn't focus on his looks. He sensed the only remaining spirit within his quasi-Nascent Soul, the healing spirit.
He held it in his hands and crushed it, then floating in their in a cross legged position. He circulated his breath and started to absorb the healing laws. He felt his quasi-Nascent Soul strengthen and change. He started to glow and around him a halo rose.
He sat there, in the air, absorbing the spirit's laws. Unlike with Yue and the Spirit Stone Soul, he didn't feel it form anything. It just... dissipated within his soul.
In a week, he absorbed it without any troubles. Almost too easy, he opened his eyes and looked at his quasi-Nascent Soul. It looked thicker and stronger, but he wondered where the laws were.
Instead of laws, he could only feel his quasi-Nascent Soul as a whole, nothing remained inside it.
'I couldn't have failed, I definitely absorbed the laws. So what happened?'
Hou was not yet aware of the specifics about the quasi-Nascent Soul, all he had were hunches. He felt that it had potential to pass any other method of gaining power. He just didn't know how, in fact right now he knew nothing.
He had bet on absorbing the healing spirit in the quasi-Nascent Soul but he only felt some strengthening effect. There was nothing he could do, he felt confused.
'Maybe when I go the next inheritance I'll figure something out. Right now, I have no idea. I feel stronger but what can a Soul do by itself?'
Hou shook his head and lethargically fell back down into his body. He was back in the Celestial Law Amplifying Physique.
He stood up and reported back to Yue what happened,
"That is peculiar. I wonder, no. I'll tell you my theory when we have more data. If anything, and I mean anything happens, just tell me. I have an idea of what it might be doing, but it is pure speculation and don't want it to poison your mind"
"Okay, I will. If anything happens I'll transfer it to you straight away if possible."
With that said Hou walked out of the cultivation room, back into his house. Instantly, he felt hungry again.
The room was only giving him the very minimum to survive and not feel hungry. Now that he was out, he felt hungry again. Luckily, there were unlimited food pills!
He walked back into the living room and opened up a floorboard. Underneath, a large tub of food pills. He took a handful and stuffed them in his mouth, swallowing whole.
Then with the free speed of the Celestial Law Amplifying Physique's absorption, he digested the food pills in only a moment.
As Hou relaxed on the floor, looking at his different laws he now had, he heard footsteps behind him. Mo Huai opened the door behind Hou and walked through,
"A month early, very impressive Hou. Are you ready to move?"
Hou smiled and then jumped up, circulating strength laws in his feet,
"I'm more than ready, I'm raring to go. Sitting still for two months got me stiff!" Hou stretched his arms and legs, jogging on the spot.
