The shot came out of nowhere, quickly followed by the pock, pock, pock noise of a suppressed rifle switched to semi-automatic.
Experience took over, both Frank and Pete immediately dropped to the ground behind the cars that were next to them. The split-second over and Pete looked for Caitlin. Lying in plain sight was a glossy, black, Caitlin shaped, mannequin. Further shots struck the figure before it slowly turned its head towards him.
"Frank! Cover me!"
Risking a hand, he reached out and grabbed its wrist. From behind him came the weird, high-speed hissing of Frank's flechette gun as he returned fire.
Farther down the garage, the sound of safety glass tinkled to the ground as car windows exploded and car alarms went off.
