Chapter 3: Kill out.

Tony's eyes remained fixed on the computer screen, watching as the progress bar advanced slowly. Meanwhile, the voices of the approaching terrorists grew louder.

The terrorists were nearly at the entrance, yet the progress bar still had some distance to go—it looked like it would take another minute to finish loading.

Tony clenched his fists. Was he really going to have to rely on this Li fellow to escape? He hadn't built the Mark I armor just to flee—he wanted revenge. He had been imprisoned by these terrorists for three months, and now, he wanted to show them exactly who they had dared to mess with.

He was Tony Stark!

Outside, Stark Industries' weapons were in terrorist hands, and Tony wanted to destroy them himself. But at this rate, it wouldn't be possible. The terrorists would reach him before the armor was operational. Against their guns, he and Li had no way to resist—escaping seemed like the only option.

"Tony, keep focusing on getting the armor started. I'll buy you some time," Li Yue said, looking at Tony, whose body was encased in the armor, with only his head exposed. He could see Tony's reluctance and was determined to give him the time he needed.

"Li… thank you. Just don't take any unnecessary risks—stay safe," Tony said, moved by Li Yue's willingness to help. The last time he had felt such gratitude was for Yinsen, who had risked his life moments ago.

Li Yue noticed Tony's expression and couldn't help but chuckle. "I'm just stalling for time, not marching to my death. Don't talk like I'm going off to war."

Without waiting for Tony's response, Li Yue vanished.

A few seconds later, he reappeared at the cave entrance, bringing with him a massive boulder. Since the explosion had already blown open the door, all that remained was a hole—one that Li Yue now sealed completely with the stone.

"Alright, that should keep them out for a while. That system of yours should be able to load in time now," Li Yue said. He had taken a few extra seconds to find the perfect-sized stone—one that was just slightly larger than the hole. While he couldn't move the stone physically, he had no trouble teleporting it into place.

"Li Yue, I appreciate what you're doing, but do not forget—I am Tony Stark. I don't need anyone taking care of me," Tony quipped, his usual arrogance returning.

Though he spoke with his trademark cocky attitude, he couldn't hide his shock. He had just witnessed Li Yue transport a multi-ton boulder as if it were nothing. To Tony, the sheer weight of the stone was staggering, yet Li Yue had accomplished it with seemingly no effort.

"The program will finish loading in just a few more seconds. Get ready to watch me wipe these guys out. You can just sit back and enjoy the show," Tony declared, his confidence fully restored.

Li Yue simply chuckled. Watching Tony's narcissism return so quickly was amusing. He said nothing and waited patiently for the loading to finish.

Meanwhile, outside, the terrorists had reached the entrance of the cave—only to freeze in shock.

Where had this enormous boulder come from? It hadn't been here before!

One of the terrorists immediately ran off to report to –their leader, while the others stood dumbfounded, guns at the ready but unsure of what to do.

Seconds ticked by. Finally, the loading bar on Tony's screen reached 100%. Feeling the armor fully activate, Tony grinned and turned to Li Yue.

"Alright, Li Yue, time for the main event. These terrorists are going to regret ever being born," he –declared as he took his first heavy step forward.

Then he stopped.

He stared at the massive boulder still blocking the entrance, then looked back at Li Yue, suddenly sheepish.

"Uh… could you help me move that?" Tony asked in a much quieter voice.

Li Yue couldn't hold back his laughter. Watching Tony's over-the-top confidence deflate in an instant was priceless. Still chuckling, he walked over and placed a hand on the boulder.

"You ready, Tony? There's a whole group of terrorists waiting outside," Li Yue asked.

"I've been preparing for this moment for three months. Let's go—I want to see just how powerful my armor really is," Tony said, clenching his fists.

Li Yue nodded, then disappeared. Along with him, the massive boulder vanished from the entrance.

Outside, the terrorists stood in confusion, waiting for orders. Then, in the blink of an eye, the boulder was gone.

Two of the guards even rubbed their eyes, convinced they were hallucinating.

But what they saw next terrified them even more.

Standing in the cave entrance was a towering steel giant, steadily advancing toward them.

Panicked, a few of the terrorists opened fire, but their bullets barely scratched the metal armor.

Moments later, the Iron Giant was upon them. The cowardly ones turned and ran. The slower ones didn't get the chance—Tony knocked them to the ground one by one, ensuring they wouldn't be getting back up.

Feeling the sheer power of his armor, Tony couldn't help but marvel at his own genius. He had actually pulled it off.

Meanwhile, Li Yue, who had teleported back immediately after removing the boulder, watched from the sidelines. Seeing Tony in action, taking down the terrorists in his handmade armor, was even more satisfying than watching it in the movie.

The funniest moment came when one particularly desperate –terrorist, seeing that his bullets were useless, decided to aim directly at Tony's head and fired.

A second later, the bullet ricocheted off the armor and shot back at him, taking him down instantly.

Li Yue nearly burst out laughing.

Finally, Tony reached the cave entrance. But waiting for him outside was the bald terrorist leader, armed with a rocket launcher on his shoulder. The moment Tony stepped out, the bald man fired directly at him.

Tony had barely emerged from the cave, still caught up in the thrill of his newfound freedom, when he suddenly found himself staring at an incoming rocket. He tried to dodge, but it was too late.

Li Yue had been following Tony closely, ensuring nothing unexpected happened. Without the warning, Tony wasn't able to avoid the deadly attack.

Fortunately, Li Yue had been watching Tony's every move. The instant he realized Tony was in danger, he teleported to him, grabbed him, and disappeared.

The next moment, Tony reappeared—only to find himself standing right next to the bald terrorist who had just fired at him.

Tony, still processing what had just happened, instinctively threw a punch, sending the bald man flying. Without hesitation, he raised his armored left arm, aimed at the airborne terrorist, and fired his only available missile.

Boom!

The bald leader was blown to bits, leaving no chance of survival.

Li Yue was momentarily stunned. This was a significant change from the original storyline. In the movie, the bald leader had been injured but had survived—now, he was dead. But there was no time to dwell on it.

"Tony, there's a group of armed terrorists waiting outside the cave for you. I'll teleport you behind them so you can hit them with your flamethrower," Li Yue quickly suggested, sensing the ambush ahead and wanting to prevent another accident.

"Alright, let's do it! And Li Yue… thank you for what you just did. I owe you my life," Tony agreed without hesitation. He had just come face to face with death, and if it weren't for Li Yue, he would have been blown to pieces. Any lingering doubts he had about Li Yue vanished—he now fully trusted him and considered him a friend.

Li Yue –didn't say much in response. He simply teleported Tony outside, positioning him right behind the group of terrorists guarding the cave entrance.

From a short distance away, Li Yue observed as Tony prepared to attack.

"Li Yue, you should get to a safe place first. I have my own way of getting out of this," Tony said, his tone carrying a newfound concern. Now that he considered Li Yue a friend, he didn't want him getting caught up in the crossfire. While Tony had the protection of his armor, Li Yue was still vulnerable, and the ensuing fight could be dangerous.

Li Yue thought –for a moment and then nodded. He couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't be hurt in a large explosion, so it was best to retreat to safety and wait for Tony to finish.

"Be careful, Tony," Li Yue advised.

"Don't worry, I value my life too much to let it end here. Once this is all over, I'll take you out to experience the lifestyle of the rich—I promise you won't want to leave," Tony joked, his usual confidence returning.

Li Yue chuckled and then disappeared.

Tony sighed. Li Yue's ability is really something to envy. Even after witnessing it multiple times, he still couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Alright, time to end this," Tony muttered, turning his gaze to the pile of weapons stamped with the "Stark Industries" logo beside him.

Tony flipped the flamethrower switch, and a surge of fire erupted from under his arms, instantly raising the surrounding temperature. Without hesitation, he turned the flames toward the stockpile of Stark Industries weapons around him. The explosives and munitions caught fire immediately, igniting a chain reaction.

The terrorists quickly realized, to their shock, that Tony had somehow appeared behind them. Panicked, they opened fire.

Tony, however, ignored them. His priority was setting fire to the rest of the Stark Industries weapons, ensuring they were all destroyed. Once he had burned most of the stockpile, he didn't dare linger any longer. He activated a switch in his armor, and with a series of explosions erupting behind him, he launched himself into the sky.

"I, Tony Stark, am back!" That was the only thought racing through his mind as he soared into the air.

Meanwhile, Yinsen was still reeling from confusion. One moment, he had been inside the cave, and in the next, he found himself in the middle of a vast desert. A voice had rung in his ear:

"Dr. Yinsen, please stay here. I will bring Mr. Stark back."

Yinsen turned toward the source of the voice, but there was no one in sight—just himself, alone in the desert. As a man of science, he couldn't help but wonder if he had just encountered a ghost.

However, he decided to follow the voice's instructions and waited in place.

Moments later, distant gunfire echoed from a direction not far away, indicating a battle. Yinsen grew anxious, but there was nothing he could do except wait.

Suddenly, Li Yue appeared beside him.

"Dr. Yinsen, I apologize for bringing you here so abruptly without your consent. Let me introduce myself—I'm Li Yue. It's a pleasure to meet you," he said, extending his hand.

"You… Hello, Mr. Li Yue. It's a pleasure to meet you as well. But can you explain what's happening? How did I suddenly appear here? And how did you disappear and reappear like that?" Yinsen was still in shock over how Li Yue had materialized out of thin air. The sheer impossibility of it overwhelmed him, but he quickly shook Li Yue's hand, his curiosity overriding his disbelief.

"This is simply my ability—there's no need to be so surprised. But more importantly, I deeply admire your selflessness. What you did back there… I don't think I would have had the courage to do it myself," Li Yue admitted sincerely. He knew that, in the same situation, he wouldn't have been able to risk his life like Yinsen did. His admiration for Yinsen character only grew.

"There's no need to praise me. I simply did what I had to do," Yinsen said humbly. Then, looking around, he suddenly realized something.

"Wait! Where is Mr. Stark? Why didn't he come with you?"

Yinsen concern was evident. Since Li Yue had the power to bring him here safely, he should have been able to do the same for Tony. But the fact that Tony was still missing made Yinsen worry.

"Don't worry, Mr. Stark is doing exactly what he needs to do. Give it a moment—he should be here soon," Li Yue reassured him.

Just as he finished speaking, a loud explosion rang out in the distance. Looking up, Li Yue saw a figure soaring into the sky, flames bursting from his feet.

"Look, there he is!" Li Yue pointed toward the sky.

Yinsen followed his gaze and immediately recognized the figure. He was in awe. "Mr. Stark truly is the greatest genius of this century—he built such an advanced suit of armor inside a cave."

However, as Yinsen continued watching, his admiration turned to concern. If Tony could create something this powerful in captivity, what would happen if Stark Industries began mass-producing similar weapons? The mere thought sent a chill down Ethan's spine.

Up in the air, Tony was exhilarated. For the first time in his life, he was truly flying.

Humans had always dreamed of taking to the skies, which was why airplanes were invented. But sitting inside an airplane wasn't the same as truly flying. Now, Tony had achieved it—on his own, with his own creation.

"I really am a fucking genius!" Tony thought smugly.

But before he could bask in his own brilliance for too long, something went horribly wrong.

The flames beneath his feet sputtered out. His thrusters had run out of fuel.

Tony suddenly lost all propulsion, and before he knew it, he was plummeting toward the desert at a terrifying speed.

His excitement immediately turned to horror. At this rate, even if he didn't die on impact, he'd be severely injured.

Closing his eyes, Tony braced for the inevitable pain.

Watching from below, Li Yue sighed.

"So much for a triumphant escape. He only got three seconds of glory."

Seeing that Tony was in real danger, Li Yue acted immediately.

In a flash, he teleported to Tony mid-air, grabbed him, and teleported again—repeating this several times to slow his descent. Finally, they both reappeared safely on the ground.

Despite Li Yue's efforts, the impact was still rough enough to send Tony tumbling into the sand. The Mark I armor, unable to withstand the force, shattered apart, its pieces scattering across the desert.

Tony groaned, sat up, and pulled off his dented helmet–, tossing it aside. Then, rubbing his aching backside, he smirked.

"Not bad," he muttered.

"Not bad?!" Yinsen's voice came from behind him. He walked over and extended a hand to help Tony up. "Mr. Stark, if it weren't for Mr. Li Yue, you'd be dead now."

Tony chuckled but took Yinsen's hand, pulling himself to his feet.

"Yeah… I guess I owe you one, Li Yue," Tony admitted, turning to look at him. "That makes two times you've saved my life now. I think I might have to put you on my payroll."

Li Yue smirked. "I'll consider it. But first, let's get out of here before more trouble shows up."

Tony nodded. It was time to leave the desert behind.

Tony grabbed Ethan's hand and stood up, then turned to Li Yue with a smile and said sincerely, "Thank you, Li Yue. You saved my life again."

"Don't mention it, Tony. We're friends, and friends help each other, right?" Li Yue replied with a grin.

Tony smirked.

"Well then, I officially declare that you, Li Yue, are now my friend. You should feel honored—it's not every day someone gets to be friends with the great Tony Stark." His usual narcissism was back in full force.

Li Yue sighed dramatically. "Oh, wow! What an honor! Being friends with Tony Stark. This must be the greatest blessing of my entire life," he said sarcastically. Truthfully, Tony's arrogance made Li Yue want to smack him, but at the same time, he couldn't help but laugh.

He turned to Yinsen and asked, "Has he always been this full of himself? How did you put up with him for the past three months without wanting to punch him?"

Yinsen chuckled, a rare sight. "Yes, Li Yue, Mr. Stark has always been this self-absorbed. If I didn't have a good temper, I probably –would have beaten him up already."

Li Yue and Yinsen exchanged amused glances before bursting into laughter.

Seeing them laugh, Tony felt unexpectedly happy. In the past, he had always been surrounded by people, but true friends had been rare. After this kidnapping, he had begun to realize what truly mattered in life.

As he silently made a decision about his future, he found himself laughing along with them.

Just then, his stomach growled loudly.

The momentary silence that followed was quickly broken by Li Yue's laughter. "Hahaha! It looks like our great Tony Stark is still just a hungry man at the end of the day."

"Alright, alright, I get it," Tony muttered, looking embarrassed.

Li Yue, still chuckling, said, "Okay, no more jokes. I'll go get you both some food." He turned to leave.

"Don't forget to bring me some cheeseburger…!" Tony called out, but before he could finish his sentence, Li Yue had already disappeared.

More than ten minutes later, Li Yue reappeared with two large bags in hand. Since he couldn't use his superpower to get food without causing suspicion, he had taken a little longer than expected.

The moment Tony saw him, he practically pounced on him, grabbing the bags with barely restrained excitement. He rummaged through the contents and, to his delight, found a cheeseburger inside.

"Li Yue, I love you," Tony joked, tearing into his burger like a starving man.

Li Yue stood to the side, watching as Tony and Yinsen devoured their food. While the terrorists had fed them during their captivity, it had been nothing more than barely edible scraps. Compared to that, this meal was a feast.

"Hiccup! I've never appreciated a drink this much before," Tony said after chugging his soda, letting out a loud burp.

"You know what? I should replace all the wine in my villa with this stuff."

Li Yue rolled his eyes. "That meal cost me a few hundred bucks, Tony. You better reimburse me when we get back."

Tony waved a hand dismissively. "No problem. Keep the change. Hell, when we get back, you can pick any car in my garage."

Before Li Yue could respond, a loud sound echoed in the distance. He recognized the sound immediately—military helicopters had arrived.

"It's time for me to go," Li Yue said, turning to Tony and Ethan. "Please keep my abilities a secret. I don't want to reveal them just yet."

"Of course. Don't worry, we won't tell anyone," Tony reassured him. Yinsen nodded in agreement.

With that, Li Yue disappeared, but not before taking all the trash with him.

A few minutes later, a military helicopter landed nearby. Colonel Rhodes stepped out, his eyes scanning the desert before landing on Tony.

"Still riding in your cozy –little Humvee, Rhodey?" Tony smirked. "Next time, let me pick the ride."

Rhodey rolled his eyes but helped Tony onto the helicopter, Yinsen following closely behind.

The news of Tony Stark's rescue spread like wildfire.

At a military airbase, Pepper Potts anxiously waited. She had just received confirmation that the military had found Tony and would be arriving shortly.

Beside her stood Happy Hogan, Tony's loyal bodyguard and driver, along with a team of medical staff pushing a stretcher, ready to provide immediate medical care if needed.

As the aircraft landed and the back doors opened, Rhodey stepped out, helping Tony off the plane. Yinsen –followed right behind.

The moment Pepper saw Tony, relief washed over her. A small smile formed at the corner of her lips.

Tony, noticing her expression, smirked. "What's this? Were you crying for your boss?"

Pepper crossed her arms and quickly composed herself. "I'm just happy I don't have to look for a new job."

Despite her words, Tony knew the truth. After months of captivity, he realized one thing—out of everyone in his life, the person he had thought about the most was Pepper.

And for the first time, he truly understood how much she meant to him.

After returning, Tony introduced Yinsen to Pepper and vice versa. He then instructed his staff to take Yinsen to his villa for rest. However, when Pepper insisted on taking him to the hospital for a checkup, Tony flatly refused. Instead, he ordered her to notify the media to prepare for an urgent press conference.

Meanwhile, news of Tony Stark's return spread like wildfire. The announcement of his upcoming press conference sent all major media outlets into a frenzy, with reporters rushing to the venue, eager to break what was sure to be a major story.

At the same time, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury received the news and immediately dispatched Agent Coulson—who had just returned from Afghanistan—to investigate Tony's escape.

Coulson, exhausted from his recent mission, was frustrated by the new orders. He had spent weeks searching for Tony Stark, only to receive news of his miraculous escape just as he was about to return to the U.S. Now, he was being sent straight to Stark's press conference to gather intel on how it all happened. With no choice but to comply, he headed for the venue.

However, the person most frustrated by Tony's return was his uncle, Obadiah Stane. As one of Stark Industries' senior executives, Stane had secretly been plotting to take over the company. He had orchestrated Tony's kidnapping by working with a terrorist group, the Ten Rings. But instead of following through with the plan and eliminating Tony, the terrorists had chosen to keep him alive, forcing him to build missiles. This had completely disrupted Stane's scheme.

Had Tony simply disappeared, everything would have gone according to plan. But now, not only had Tony escaped, he was about to hold a press conference—without giving Stane any time to prepare. Stane had a bad feeling about this. He suspected Tony was about to make a shocking announcement, one that could jeopardize everything. Helpless to stop it, he rushed to the venue, anxiously awaiting what was to come.

Accompanied by Pepper, Tony arrived at the press conference. After exchanging a few words with Obadiah Stane, he took his place on stage, ready to speak.

Meanwhile, at Uncle John's house, Li Yue was behaving unusually. Normally, he would either go out early or stay in his room all day, doing who-knows-what. But today, he sat on the sofa next to Uncle John, watching TV, which surprised the older man.

"Li Yue, what's gotten into you today? Since when do you watch TV with me?" Uncle John asked curiously.

Li Yue, maintaining a casual tone, replied, "I heard that Tony Stark just returned from Afghanistan and is holding a press conference. I wanted to see what he's going to say."

Of course, Li Yue already knew what Tony would announce. He just didn't want to miss the moment that would change Tony's life forever.

"Hmph, big deal. He disappeared for three months, Stark Industries' stock tanked, and now he's probably just holding this press conference to reassure investors and regain public sympathy," Uncle John scoffed. "I wouldn't be surprised if he starts whining to the media about how much he suffered, just to make himself look good."

Li Yue rolled his eyes. How much does this guy dislike Tony Stark?

"No matter what he's been through, I doubt it will change his arrogant playboy personality," Uncle John added.

"I think people can change," Li Yue said with confidence. "And that includes Tony Stark."

Uncle John snorted. "We'll see about that."

"I have a feeling that today's press conference will mark a turning point. Tony's decision won't just change Stark Industries—it might even change the world." Li Yue leaned back, watching the screen closely.

Uncle John remained skeptical. "Well, let's wait and see."

At the press conference, Tony leaned against the podium, speaking candidly to the audience.

"I never got to say goodbye to my father," Tony said. "I never got to ask him how he truly felt about this company—whether he had doubts, regrets... I used to think I understood everything. But what I saw with my own eyes changed that. I saw young soldiers killed by the very weapons I invented, weapons that were supposed to protect them."

Uncle John scoffed. "See? I told you—he's just trying to get sympathy from the media."

But then, something unexpected happened.

Tony stood up, walked away from the podium, and made a shocking announcement:

"I have completely awakened. I now realize that I must do more for the world than just manufacture explosive weapons. That's why, effective immediately, I am shutting down Stark Industries' weapons division. I will be redirecting our efforts toward what I believe to be in the best interests of this country."

Silence.

The entire room was stunned. Every journalist stared at Tony in disbelief. The entire press corps had been expecting a typical corporate speech—certainly not this.

Agent Coulson, who had been questioning Pepper for intel, immediately stopped and turned his full attention to Tony's words. He knew this was big and prepared to report everything to Nick Fury.

Uncle John blinked at the TV, struggling to process what he had just heard. "Wait... did he just say what I think he said?" He glanced at Li Yue, then back at the screen.

The reaction was the same everywhere. People were in shock. No one could believe that Tony Stark, heir to one of the world's largest weapons manufacturers, had just announced he was shutting down its most profitable division.

Li Yue, however, simply smiled.

He did it~!

This was the moment that marked the birth of Iron Man—the moment Tony Stark truly changed.

Li Yue got up from the couch.

"Everyone changes, Uncle John. Even Tony Stark," he said quietly before heading back to his room.

Uncle John remained –seated, staring at the TV screen. He looked at the mustached man standing at the podium and shook his head in disbelief.

"Just what the hell happened to him out there?"
