I woke up the next morning feeling weak, even though I'd spent all of yesterday in bed. I must've passed out—I didn't even notice when Damon left.
I can't believe I cried. Mama would be so pissed if she found out. And Damon? He'll never let me hear the end of it.
A knock on the door made me sit up.
"Come in," I called, already dragging myself toward the bathroom as Mara burst into the room.
"What happened? The Beta said no one was allowed on this floor all through yesterday. Is the Alpha okay?" she asked, following me into the bathroom.
"I hope he died in his sleep," I muttered, rubbing a hand down my face.
Mara gasped. "Why would you say that? That could be considered treason."
"Whatever," I snapped, turning to her with a frown. "Did we get any clothes I can use for training?" I asked, pulling my hair into a messy bun.
Five seconds.
Ten seconds.
Thirty seconds passed, and she just stood there, staring at me.
"Mara! Did you hear me?"
