Within a torch lit cave, a throne made of stone could be seen in the center. On top of it sat a taller figure(in the eyes of the goblins at least). "So, you are saying that not only have you wasted two days chasing a target I DID NOT ask for, but also let it get away?" The goblin group leader sweats as it sees the cold eyes staring right back at it. "B-boss, we find Treeman though! Sap make us-You! stronger!" The 'Boss' leans back into the chair, a contemplative look on his face as he says "I see..." The group leader relaxes slightly, believing that he has quelled his boss' anger.
SWISH!
suddenly, something speeds through the air, and before the goblin group leader knew it, His head was separated from his body. The now leaderless lackies tremble, not daring to utter a sound, as they watch their boss place his weapon back in its resting spot, still covered in blood. He then points at one of the lackies. "You will be reassigned to a different group. I expect to see results from you soon." "Yes, boss!" The lacky flees the throne room, glad to not stay in his Prescence any longer. "And you." The remaining lacky trembles as the boss looks at him, quietly debating about the goblin before it. "Report to the elder shaman. He will determine whether you are fit to serve." The now to be determined shaman's eyes light up, as it was always its dream to be a shaman. "Yes boss! Won't let down!" And hurries off, eager to be tested as soon as possible.
Now alone, the boss leans on his throne, his hand resting on his chin. "So, one of them have appeared again, eh? Their blood will be the catalyst for my plan." maniacal laughter echoes throughout the cavern from the throne room. The dozens of working goblins all shudder, feeling the malice and oppression from the sound alone.
"Why are their so many goblins in this damn forest!?" Gabe could be said to be having a bad month. After his run in with the three dunces, Gabe found that the number of goblins on patrol seem to have quadrupled. From barely seeing any to now seeing at least two groups each day, Gabe was at his wit's end. On his good days, he could slip past them no problem, even able to get them temporarily out of the area. On his bad days though, he would have to leap through the trees as they attempted to hurl both spears and insults at him.
Not all of it was bad news though for when he can follow them undetected, he is always led to an area filled with rich soil and good water. Because of these infrequent gains, his plant muscles(or whatever is driving his body) had gotten stronger. "I need to do something about these goblins though, because if this continues, I'll be too heavy for the branches to carry me." Gabe sighed to himself as he watched a group of goblins walk past beneath him.
As he was about to move on to another goblin-less location, he stopped as he heard a goblin's broken speech. "Me an him go hunt boar. You wait." The larger of the goblins spoke, before grabbing the one nearest to him and walking off, dragging the smaller goblin by the head. The third laughs at the unfortunate goblin before it sits under the tree. "Well if it isn't my lucky day," Gabe couldn't stop the growing smile on his face. After all, who doesn't like it when a pillow is given to you just when you feel sleepy?
Gabe crouches on the branch, eyeing the goblin who seems to be blissfully unaware. "3...2...1...now!" Gabe dropped himself from the branch. Now in a free fall, Gabe spreads his arms, positioning as much of himself as possible towards the rapidly approaching green body.
THUNK!
"GUh!" Unguarded, the goblin feels the air leave its lungs as a heavy log fell on it. Except, this log could move. Taking advantage, Gabe swiped at the throat of the goblin, piercing through the soft flesh. The goblin thrashes for a bit, arms flailing through the air until it grows still. "Phew! that did it! Now to get out of here, before the others return. Gabe scrambles up the tree before leaping away.
By nightfall, one large and one small goblin arrive to find the ambushed corpse. "Weak." The larger goblin kicks the body, uncaring of the fate of his comrade. "What do now?" The smaller goblin asks, unsure if there is any plan. "We feast. bring corpse. will make good bait." "Yes..." The days pass as Gabe gets into a new routine. If there is a lone goblin, Gabe would ambush it and flee the area before the others could investigate. The goblins seemed to have realized this though, as they made it a habit to never be fully alone, at least being with one other goblin. Yet one night, Gabe found his next target: A large and a small goblin with no night watch on duty. "Perfect."
Gabe, as quietly as possible, sneaks closer to the camp. The smaller goblin sleeps on the ground, next to a makeshift bonfire so as not to freeze in the night. A dagger resides by its side, rusted and poorly made. Gabe grabs the weapon before positioning himself near the goblin. Gabe then slams his hand over the goblins mouth before stabbing it in the head. The eyes snap open before the light in them fades away. "Since you wanted to rest, rest forever on the other side." Gabe closes the eyelids before moving towards the tent.
As it turns out, the leader usually sleeps in the crude tents while the subordinates sleep outside. Making his way in, Gabe finds the larger goblin, peacefully sleeping. Gabe sneaks his way over to the goblins broad frame, dagger poised to strike. "One strike and I'll have one less problem to deal with." After a bit of hesitation, the dagger glides through the air. , Yet, just before it could land, a large green hand grabs Gabe by the wrist. stopping the dagger in it's tracks. "ME got you!" Looking up, Gabe finds the large goblin, now sitting up and staring right back at him.
