I strolled through the Academy doors, hands tucked in my pockets, the fabric of my blindfold soft against my skin. The chakra signatures of dozens of kids pulsed around me, most of them radiating anxiety and excitement in equal measure. Their energy buzzed like a swarm of startled bees.
"Move it!" A boy shouldered past, then froze when I didn't budge an inch. Through my Six Eyes, I watched his chakra spike with irritation, then confusion as he took in my relaxed posture and covered eyes.
"You lost or something?" He squared his shoulders, trying to look tough.
I tilted my head, a smile playing at my lips. "Nah. I can see just fine." I pointed directly at the classroom number above his head without turning. "Class 1-B, right?"
His chakra flickered with surprise. A few other kids stopped to watch, their own energy patterns shifting with curiosity.
"How did you-"
"Lucky guess." I walked past him, my stride easy and unhurried. The wooden floors creaked beneath my feet, but I navigated around the scattered backpacks and clustered students without missing a step.
The classroom buzzed with pre-class chaos. Paper airplanes sailed through the air, their trajectories clear in my vision as tiny disturbances in the space around them. Kids clustered in groups, their chakra networks intertwining as they shared summer stories and nervous whispers about the year ahead.
I picked an empty seat near the window, slouching into it with deliberate casualness. The sunlight warmed my face, and I could feel the curious stares of my classmates. Their chakra signatures pulsed with questions - about my blindfold, my attitude, my complete lack of first-day jitters.
Let them wonder. Dad always said a ninja's greatest weapon was the element of surprise. And right now, lounging in my chair while everyone else fidgeted with nervous energy, I was definitely surprising them.
Through my Six Eyes, the classroom was a kaleidoscope of chakra networks, each student's energy signature as unique as a fingerprint. A boy in an orange jumpsuit near the front radiated an overwhelming amount of chakra - wild, untamed, and tinged with something darker that coiled in his center. The sheer volume made my head spin.
Two rows ahead, a brooding kid with spiky black hair held a different kind of power - refined, controlled, but with an underlying current of intensity. His chakra flowed with practiced precision.
"Your chakra control's pretty good," I said to the girl who'd taken the seat beside me. Her energy signature was balanced, stable - the mark of someone who'd already started training.
She blinked. "How can you tell?"
I shrugged, scanning the rest of the room. A shy girl in the corner caught my attention - her chakra network was intricate, concentrated around her eyes in a distinct pattern I'd never seen before. Next to her, a boy slumped over his desk, but his lazy posture belied the sharp, strategic flow of his chakra.
Two girls near the front bickered over a seat - one with long pink hair, the other blonde. Their chakra levels were average, but well-regulated. A boy with red triangles on his cheeks had wild, animal-like energy that seemed to sync with the puppy at his feet.
"It's like looking at a bunch of different colored lights," I explained to my seatmate, though that barely scratched the surface. Each person's chakra told a story - their potential, their training, their natural affinities. Some blazed like bonfires, others flickered like candles, but every single one was distinct.
I couldn't help but smirk. Dad had warned me about showing off, but this was going to be interesting.
The girl with the precise chakra control turned to face me fully, and I caught the distinctive fan symbol on her back. An Uchiha - and from the similarities in their chakra patterns, she had to be related to the brooding boy.
Her dark eyes narrowed, scanning me with unconcealed suspicion. The intensity of her glare might have intimidated someone else, but it just made me grin wider.
"Something on my face?" I touched my blindfold with exaggerated concern. "Oh wait, you can't tell, can you?"
Her chakra spiked with irritation. "Who exactly are you?"
"Kazami Hatake." I stretched lazily, making sure to take up extra space. "And you're... let me guess... an Uchiha? The chakra around your eyes gives it away."
She stiffened. "How can you see anything with that blindfold?"
"Trade secret." I leaned closer, dropping my voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "But between you and me, I can see way more than most people. Even those fancy Sharingan eyes of yours."
That hit a nerve. Her chakra flared like a struck match, and she stood abruptly, hands clenched at her sides. "You don't know anything about the Sharingan."
"Maybe not." I shrugged, enjoying how easy it was to get under her skin. "But I bet I could still run circles around you in training."
"Is that a challenge?" Her voice was cold, controlled, but her chakra told a different story - she was practically vibrating with competitive energy.
"Could be." I tilted my head, giving her my best Cheshire cat smile. "What's your name, anyway? Since we're going to be rivals and all."
"Yuna Uchiha." She practically spat the words. "And you're going to regret underestimating me."
"Looking forward to it, Yu-na-chan." I drew out each syllable, watching her chakra spike again at the familiar honorific.
I left Yuna fuming and made my way to the shy girl in the corner. Her chakra network fascinated me - the way it concentrated around her eyes created intricate patterns I'd never seen before.
"That's some impressive eye-work you've got there." I dropped into the empty seat next to her. She startled, her chakra flickering like a disturbed pond. "The way your energy flows? Beautiful."
"Y-you can see that?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.
"Sure can." I tapped my blindfold. "I'm Kazami. And you're a Hyuga, right? Those eyes of yours are pretty special."
She ducked her head, but I caught the slight uplift of her chakra - a hint of pride beneath the nervousness. "I'm Hinata."
"Well, Hinata," I leaned back, keeping my posture relaxed and open, "want to know something cool? I can see the way chakra moves through every point in your body. It's like watching a dance."
Her chakra shifted, curiosity replacing fear. "Really? What does it look like?"
"Like moonlight on water." I traced the air, following the flow of her chakra pathways. "All silvery and flowing. Way more graceful than most people's. Bet you're amazing at chakra control."
"I-I'm not..." She started to protest, but I waved it off.
"Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. These eyes of mine don't lie." I grinned. "Hey, want to grab lunch together later? You can tell me about those Gentle Fist techniques I've heard about."
Her chakra brightened, surprise and happiness mixing together. "You... you want to have lunch with me?"
"Course I do. Us special-eyes kids gotta stick together, right?" I bumped her shoulder playfully. "Plus, I bet you've got all sorts of interesting stories about training with those techniques of yours."
"I'd like that." This time her smile was genuine, her chakra settling into a warm, steady glow.
Leaving the table after I promised to eat it together some other time I go to another interesting person in the class
I sauntered over to the brooding boy, his chakra a controlled inferno of repressed emotions. The empty seats around him formed a perfect circle - clearly, everyone else got the 'stay away' message he was broadcasting.
"What's with the death glare? Trying to set the blackboard on fire?" I plopped down next to him, ignoring how his chakra coiled tighter at my intrusion.
"Leave." His voice could've frozen water.
"Wow, one whole word! I'm honored." I pressed a hand to my chest. "But seriously, does the whole dark-and-mysterious thing actually work for you? Because from where I'm sitting, it just looks like you've got a bad case of-"
"I said leave." His chakra spiked dangerously.
"Make me, Uchiha." I grinned, enjoying how his energy practically crackled with irritation.
A snort of laughter drew my attention. The boy in orange - the one with the massive chakra reserves - was watching us with undisguised glee.
"Something funny?" I called out to him.
"You're the first person I've seen talk to him like that!" He bounded over, chakra bouncing with each step. "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm gonna be Hokage, believe it!"
"Kazami Hatake." I gestured to the seat next to me. "Future Hokage, huh? With chakra levels like yours, I'd believe it."
His energy stuttered, like someone had just given him an unexpected gift. "You... you really think so?"
"Kid, you've got more chakra in your pinky than most people have in their whole body." I turned toward him fully, ignoring Sasuke's attempt to radiate death-by-glare. "Plus, anyone who can pull off wearing that much orange deserves respect."
Naruto's chakra exploded with joy, bright and warm as sunshine. "You're awesome! Hey, hey, wanna get ramen after class? I know the best place in the village!"
"Ichiraku's? Already a regular customer." I grinned as his energy somehow got even brighter. "You're on."
Sasuke made a disgusted sound and turned away, but I caught the slight ripple in his chakra - a flicker of something almost like interest beneath all that carefully cultivated indifference.
The teacher - Iruka-sensei, clapped his hands. "Alright class, let's start with some basic exercises. Everyone line up for kunai practice."
We went outside to start the practice.
I twirled a kunai between my fingers, the weight familiar from countless hours of practice with Dad. The targets stood twenty yards away, their chakra-reinforced wood barely registering to my Six Eyes.
"Hatake, you're up first."
I stepped forward, rolling my shoulders. Through my blindfold, I could see the exact trajectory needed, the space between me and the target mapped out in perfect detail.
Five throws. Five bullseyes. The kunai struck with such precision that each blade touched the others.
Whispers rippled through the class. Their chakra signatures flickered with surprise and disbelief.
"Show-off," Yuna's voice cut through the murmurs. Her chakra burned with frustration. "Anyone can do party tricks. Let's see how you handle a real fight."
I turned toward her, unable to suppress my grin. "Is that a challenge, Yu-na-chan?"
"Sparring match. Right now." She stepped forward, her chakra coiling like a snake ready to strike.
"Now, now," Iruka started, but paused when he saw our names on his roster. "Ah... Hatake and Uchiha... Well, I suppose..."
"Come on, Sensei." I bounced on my toes, excitement building. "Consider it a practical demonstration."
"Very well." He sighed. "Training circle, both of you. Standard sparring rules."
Yuna's chakra surged with determination as we faced each other. My grin widened - finally, something interesting.
"Ready to eat those words about the Sharingan?" She dropped into a fighting stance.
"Ready when you are, Princess." I settled into my own stance, loose and relaxed. "Show me what you've got."
Yuna charged, her movements precise and calculated - exactly what I'd expect from an Uchiha. But to my Six Eyes, she might as well have been moving through molasses.
"Too slow." I sidestepped her punch, letting it whistle past my ear. Her chakra spiked with frustration as I danced around her strikes, barely moving more than necessary.
"Stand still and fight!" She launched a spinning kick.
I bent backward, watching her leg pass overhead. "But you're doing such a good job of fighting yourself."
Her next combination came faster - three punches, two kicks, and a sweep. I weaved through them all, adding an unnecessary spin just because I could. The class's chakra signatures pulsed with excitement around us, but I kept my focus on Yuna's increasingly erratic movements.
"You know," I ducked under another punch, "for an Uchiha, your form's pretty sloppy when you're angry."
That did it. She unleashed her strongest attack yet, chakra flaring as she poured everything into one final strike. I saw the pattern of her movement before she even completed the first step.
I caught her fist mid-swing, redirected her momentum, and had her pinned in one fluid motion. My other hand stopped an inch from her throat.
"I win." I released her and patted her head like a puppy. "Better luck next time, Yu-na-chan."
Her chakra blazed with humiliation and rage. "You-"
"That was fun!" I stretched lazily. "We should do this again sometime. You know, when you've actually learned how to fight."
The class erupted in whispers. Yuna's chakra churned with a mix of emotions - anger, embarrassment, and underneath it all, a fierce determination that made me smile wider.
"And that," I announced to our audience, "is why you shouldn't challenge someone just because they wear a blindfold. Class dismissed!" I gave a mock bow and sauntered away, leaving Yuna fuming in my wake.
Yuna caught up to me after class, her chakra still bristling with wounded pride. The setting sun cast long shadows across the academy grounds, but through my Six Eyes, her energy burned bright as ever.
"This isn't over, Hatake." She planted herself in front of me, fists clenched. "I'm going to train harder than ever. I'll surpass you, and then we'll see who's laughing."
"Aww, that's adorable." I patted her shoulder, enjoying how her chakra spiked at the contact. "You're taking this whole rivalry thing pretty seriously, huh?"
"Mock me all you want." Her voice held steel beneath the anger. "But I will beat you. That's a promise."
"Looking forward to it, Yu-na-chan." I stretched, yawning deliberately. "It'll be fun watching you try."
Behind us, I caught snippets of the instructors' conversation, their chakra networks humming with concern and excitement.
"...skills far beyond genin level..."
"...reminds me of her father at that age..."
"...perhaps even more advanced..."
"...could rival some chunin already..."
I smirked, letting their whispers wash over me. Dad had always said not to show off too much, but where was the fun in that? Besides, their amazement was pretty entertaining.
"Did you hear that?" I turned back to Yuna. "Sounds like I'm pretty impressive."
Her chakra flared again. "Skill means nothing without discipline. You're just playing around."
"Maybe." I shrugged. "But I'm still winning, aren't I?"
She stormed off, her chakra leaving angry ripples in her wake. I couldn't help but laugh - this rivalry thing might actually make the academy interesting.
Through my Six Eyes, I watched the instructors huddle closer, their chakra networks intertwining with shared excitement and apprehension. They kept glancing my way, probably wondering just how far I could go.
"Come on, Hinata! I promised you lunch, remember?" I grabbed her hand, feeling her chakra flutter with surprise. "And Naruto's buying us ramen!"
"Hey, I never said I was buying!" Naruto's chakra bounced with mock outrage.
"But future Hokages are supposed to be generous." I nudged him playfully. "Right, Hinata?"
"R-right." Hinata's chakra warmed as she fell into step beside us.
The three of us headed toward Ichiraku's, our shadows stretching long in the afternoon sun. Through my Six Eyes, I watched their chakra networks dance and weave - Naruto's wild and boundless, Hinata's precise and graceful. It felt... right, somehow. Natural.
Movement caught my attention. Yuna stood by the academy gates, her chakra a storm of frustration and determination. She hadn't moved since our fight, just stood there radiating anger like a tiny sun.
I couldn't resist. I turned, lifted my blindfold just enough to show one eye, and winked. Her chakra exploded with indignation, and I swear I heard teeth grinding from here.
"You really shouldn't tease her like that," Hinata murmured, but I caught the slight amusement in her chakra.
"Probably not." I laughed, letting the blindfold fall back into place. "But she makes it so easy!"
Naruto launched into a story about his latest prank, his chakra painting pictures more vivid than words ever could. Hinata's quiet giggles mixed with his loud enthusiasm, creating a harmony that made something in my chest warm.
I'd spent my first life alone, and most of this one watching the world through a blindfold. But here, walking between these two, their chakra bright and welcoming... it felt like belonging.
"Race you to Ichiraku's!" I called, already running.
"No fair! You can see through walls!" Naruto's outraged shout followed me.
For the first time since waking up in this world, I felt truly excited about what tomorrow might bring. New friends, new rivals, new adventures - and all of it seen through eyes that made the world more beautiful than I'd ever imagined.
