One rainy afternoon, as the school bell rang, James and Sophie stood under the shelter of the school building, watching the heavy downpour.
"I don't think the rain is going to stop anytime soon," Sophie said, her eyes fixed on the dark clouds.
James glanced at her. "Do you have an umbrella?"
Sophie shook her head. "No, I forgot mine at home."
Without a second thought, James opened his small blue umbrella and held it out to her. "Here, take mine."
Sophie looked at him, surprised. "What about you? You'll get wet."
James shrugged. "It's okay. I don't mind getting a little wet."
Sophie hesitated but finally took the umbrella. As they walked home together, James tried to stay under the umbrella as much as possible, but the rain was relentless. By the time they reached Sophie's house, James was completely drenched.
Sophie felt guilty. "James, you're soaked! Come inside and dry yourself."
James shook his head. "It's fine, Sophie. I'll go home and change."
But Sophie insisted. "No, you'll catch a cold. Please, come in."
Reluctantly, James agreed. Sophie's mother welcomed him warmly and gave him a towel to dry himself. As James sat in Sophie's cozy living room, sipping on hot tea, he realized how much Sophie cared for him. It was a feeling he couldn't quite describe, but it made his heart feel warm.
