ZAIN
The metal door slammed shut behind me with a hollow bang, but I could still hear her—Jade—screaming through the stone. Pleading. Cursing. Crying.
I exhaled, fists clenched at my sides.
I should've snapped her neck the moment I saw her in that damn clearing. Should've ignored the resemblance to Violet—the same fire in her eyes, the same reckless edge in her voice. But no. I hesitated.
Because of her.
Violet.
I could still feel her on my skin. The ghost of her touch. The scent of her arousal burned into my senses like wildfire. I'd almost lost control again—almost taken her. Claimed her.
And now this? Her little sister trespassing onto my land like a lamb in a den of wolves?
What the hell was the universe playing at?
Cian met me at the top of the stairs, brows raised in question. He looked past me, toward the dungeon door.
"You going to tell me why I just heard screaming?" he asked.
"She's Violet's sister," I bit out, brushing past him.
