Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Hating Otto, Understanding Otto, Becoming Otto, Surpassing Otto

Hearing that the probability was so low, everyone fell into silence.

Until...

Bang!

"Even if the probability is this low, we still have to try. Nothing is absolute. As Prometheus said, nothing is absolutely impossible.

Before me, did any of you think someone could know the entire truth about the Honkai? No. Since a miracle like me could appear, why can't there be another miracle?"

Chang Yuan slammed the table, drawing everyone's attention. His tone was calm but resolute.

Sigh.

"If you're saying that, what else can I do? Elysia is my friend too. Let's give it a try. All the Divine Keys have been completed anyway.

As for the other AIs compatible with Herrscher cores, Prometheus is already working on them. I don't have much else to do.

From now on, I'll devote all my efforts to this project."

The 'Expert' Vill-V was the first to speak up, agreeing to take on this seemingly impossible task.

The other two remained silent, tacitly agreeing.

"Then I'll thank you all again. I hope another miracle can happen."

"Leave it to me. I'm Vill-V. If I want to do something, I can do it."

Pushing her tall hat down slightly, the 'Expert' Vill-V flashed a confident smile.

This kind of challenging task was exactly what she wanted, not just following a set path based on existing answers.

"Then let's start the project. I'll handle the early stages. You two still have unfinished projects, so finish those first and then come help me."

"Fine, let's go crazy with you. Creating miracles? Heh."

Twisting her waist, Mobius let out a cold laugh and left.

The last laugh was unclear whether it was mocking or underestimating the difficulty.

Perhaps it was also mocking fate's overconfidence.

Meanwhile, Mei's Stigma Project was nearing completion, so she didn't stay long.

Once she finished her part of the Stigma Project, she would have more time to help Vill-V with this new plan.

As everyone left to attend to their own tasks, the 'Expert' Vill-V began her first experiment.

She planned to use DNA to create an identical clone.

Although this was morally and ethically questionable, the 'Expert' Vill-V didn't care.

All she wanted was to save her friend's life.

Just as Chang Yuan understood Elysia, the 'Expert' Vill-V also understood her.

With Elysia's personality, if humanity truly couldn't defeat the Herrscher of the End, and she discovered her own uniqueness, neither Chang Yuan nor anyone else could stop her from sacrificing herself.

Thanks to Chang Yuan's presence, humanity's fight against the Honkai had been going smoothly. This meant that pessimism hadn't spread, and few people even felt pessimistic.

Therefore, Vill-V's current plan was to flee to the next civilization with most of humanity if they failed to defeat the Herrscher of the End.

This was unlike the original timeline, where the focus was on individual plans, as there were very few humans left by then.

"Dr. Vill-V, are you planning to clone her?"

"What? Are you going to stop me?"

Hearing Prometheus's question, the 'Expert' Vill-V asked.

"No, I won't stop any of Dr. Vill-V's actions. But if the clone develops its own consciousness and has a face similar to hers, will you be able to destroy it?"

"..."

"I understand. Then, when the time comes, let me do it. Unlike Dr. Vill-V's emotional attachment, I'm just an AI. I don't have those feelings."

Seeing the 'Expert' Vill-V's silence, Prometheus had her answer.

If Vill-V couldn't do it, then Prometheus would take on the task.

Vill-V still didn't respond, but her hands slowed as she adjusted the data.

Meanwhile, Chang Yuan left the room with a heavy heart.

"Chang Yuan, why are you frowning? Did something bad happen?"

Elysia, who had been waiting outside, approached Chang Yuan as soon as he emerged.

Seeing his troubled expression, her playful demeanor softened.

She reached out to smooth out his furrowed brow, her voice filled with concern.

"Yeah, but it's nothing. We've already come up with a new plan."

Seeing Elysia's gentle yet worried expression, Chang Yuan forced a smile.

But the smile was strained.

As his closest companion, Elysia could tell.

But as always, if Chang Yuan didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't press further.

"Alright then, smile more. A frown doesn't suit you."

Using her index fingers, Elysia pulled the corners of Chang Yuan's mouth upward.

"Mm, that's more like it. Come on, let's go. When you're feeling down, eating sweets and taking a walk can help."

Grabbing Chang Yuan's hand, Elysia dragged him out for a walk.

Even though he wasn't in the mood, Chang Yuan calmed himself and accompanied her.

...

"Experiment 38, designation AI-38. The first experiment to exhibit brainwave activity."

Looking at the clone in the cultivation chamber that was almost identical to Elysia, Prometheus reported the data expressionlessly.

Just as Prometheus finished reporting, the clone in the cultivation chamber opened her eyes.

Her gaze was innocent and curious. She looked around, taking in everything, until her eyes landed on Prometheus. She tilted her head slightly.

At that moment, Prometheus's hand trembled slightly, but no one noticed—except the clone.

The clone, naive and unaware, saw Prometheus's trembling hand. She didn't understand, but she instinctively placed her hand on the glass and smiled.

"Detection complete. No uniqueness similar to Elysia detected. Subject should be terminated."

"...."

But as Prometheus spoke, her hand hesitated over the termination button.

The button didn't directly kill the clone. Instead, it administered a special drug to induce permanent sleep, with a hallucinogenic effect to ensure the clone drifted off in a beautiful dream.
