Chapter 20 - Orochimaru's first appearance

The six Uchiha students worked together, coordinating their attacks against a single opponent—Liuyun. At first, he managed to maintain the upper hand, but he soon realized the truth of the saying: "Two fists cannot block twelve kicks."

These Uchiha kids were not ordinary students; as members of the clan, their physical abilities were naturally superior. Liuyun knew that defeating them all without sustaining any injuries was impossible—especially since they hadn't resorted to hidden weapons or ninjutsu yet.

In the chaotic brawl, despite his sharp eyesight and quick reflexes, Liuyun was inevitably struck multiple times. However, these attacks did little to him. He still had plenty of chakra flowing through his body, allowing him to endure the blows without much trouble.

As he fought, a kick from behind struck him. Instead of retreating, Liuyun seized the opportunity to counterattack, delivering a powerful punch to the abdomen of one of the Uchiha boys. The impact sent his opponent flying, forcing the air—and probably the contents of his stomach—out of him.

Liuyun staggered slightly from the kick he had taken, but he quickly adjusted his stance. Just as he turned, another Uchiha aimed a punch at him from behind. Liuyun barely dodged in time.

"Liuyun, I'll help you!"

Seeing her classmate get hit several times, Kushina finally couldn't hold back and jumped into the fight.

Liuyun wanted to warn her to stay back, afraid she might get hurt. But before he could speak, another Uchiha leapt high into the air, preparing to strike him with a powerful spinning kick aimed at his head.

At that moment, Liuyun had no time for words.

His eyes sharpened, and with his exceptional vision, he immediately saw through his opponent's movements. Instead of backing away, he raised his arm and countered with a precise strike to the attacking leg.

CRACK!

The Uchiha boy's face contorted in agony. His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as a heart-wrenching scream escaped his mouth. He collapsed to the ground, clutching his leg in pain.

The impact had caused a small fracture in his calf bone, rendering him unable to continue fighting.

Now, four of the eight Uchiha had been taken down.

Kushina immediately charged at Uchiha Qianye, choosing him as her opponent. Meanwhile, Liuyun was left facing only three remaining enemies.

One of them, sensing the tide of battle turning against them, grew nervous and hesitant. His hesitation gave Liuyun the perfect opening—one swift kick sent him sprawling to the ground.

One by one, Liuyun and Kushina knocked down their opponents. Finally, only Uchiha Yan remained standing.

Liuyun and Yan clashed fiercely. Unlike the others, Yan was genuinely strong, with solid taijutsu skills. Liuyun couldn't defeat him immediately, but he had barely used half of his chakra and still had plenty of stamina left. It was only a matter of time before Yan fell too.

After a grueling exchange of blows, Yan finally grimaced in pain, his arms and legs trembling.

"Wait! I... I give up! I won't fight anymore!" he gasped, waving his hands to signal surrender. His limbs were swollen and bruised, barely any better off than his fallen comrades.

Liuyun, however, wasn't about to let him go so easily.

"Hmph… You think you can just quit? Keep dreaming!" Liuyun sneered, his attacks continuing mercilessly.

A minute later, Uchiha Yan was lying flat on the ground, all traces of his previous arrogance gone as he groaned in pain.

"Ahhh…"

On the other side of the battlefield, Kushina had already defeated Uchiha Qianye. Not content with merely knocking him down, she repeatedly stomped on him, making sure he really felt the pain.

"Monster… M-Monster!"

The last standing Uchiha saw the carnage around him—his friends beaten, screaming, and rolling on the ground. Overwhelmed by fear and pain, he turned and ran for his life, screaming as he fled.

But Liuyun wasn't done. He quickly caught up and delivered a sharp kick to the boy's back.

THUD!

The Uchiha faceplanted into the ground, tears welling in his eyes from the pain.

Liuyun took a moment to scan the battlefield. He watched the defeated Uchiha groaning on the ground. If anyone seemed like they were about to get up, he immediately went over and gave them a few more punches or kicks.

"That's what you get for bullying Liuyun!" Kushina shouted, completely caught up in the fight. "You Uchiha act like you own this school! Always so arrogant! You think you're so cool?! I'll beat that attitude out of you!"

She continued kicking and scolding them, so caught up in her rant that she even accidentally scolded Liuyun along the way.

After several rounds of relentless attacks, the once-proud Uchiha gang finally couldn't take it anymore. Despite their injuries, they scrambled to their feet and fled in panic, too terrified to risk another round of beatings.

Within moments, the open training ground was empty—except for two people.

Kushina let out a triumphant laugh.

"Haha! Liuyun, you were amazing! I didn't expect you to be this strong!"

She was clearly thrilled. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she'd get the chance to beat up members of the Uchiha clan. After all, these guys were the true school bullies!

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

Suddenly, the sound of slow, deliberate applause rang out.

The unexpected noise made both of them freeze.

"What a spectacular fight!"

A tall, thin man with a pale face and snake-like eyes walked toward them, clapping as he spoke. His voice was hoarse yet elegant, filled with amusement and curiosity.

"I never imagined the academy had such an exceptional student," he continued, his piercing gaze locking onto Liuyun. "To single-handedly defeat seven members of the Uchiha clan… That is quite the feat."

Liuyun's heart skipped a beat.

'Orochimaru?!'

He was shocked. He hadn't realized that someone like Orochimaru had been watching their fight the entire time.

'I was so focused on those Uchiha brats that I didn't even notice him…'

The thought sent a small chill down his spine.

"Lord Orochimaru! What are you doing here?!" Kushina exclaimed, equally surprised.

Even though Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Tsunade hadn't yet earned the title of "Legendary Sannin", they were already famous throughout the village. Since Kushina was living with the Senju clan, she had met them multiple times—especially through Tsunade.

Liuyun, caught off guard, blurted out a strange version of Orochimaru's name.

"O…ro…chi… silly man!"

Realizing his mistake, he quickly corrected himself and respectfully added, "I mean, Lord Orochimaru!"

Orochimaru's mouth twitched slightly. His snake-like eyes narrowed as he studied Liuyun.

Something felt off about the way Liuyun had spoken just now.

"Your accent is… a bit unusual," Orochimaru remarked.

Liuyun internally panicked but kept his expression neutral.

"Chinese accent."

Instead of answering, he simply tilted his head in confusion.

Orochimaru turned back to Kushina.

"It's getting late. Shouldn't you be heading home? Lady Mito is likely waiting for you," he said with a polite smile.

Kushina's eyes widened. Looking at the sky, she realized the sun was already setting.

"Ah! You're right! I should hurry back!"

She turned to Liuyun, blushing slightly. "Liuyun, Lord Orochimaru, I'll see you later!"

With that, she waved goodbye and hurried off.

Liuyun sighed.

"Yeah… I should head home too."

However, neither he nor Orochimaru moved. Instead, Orochimaru's gaze remained locked on him.

"...What's your name?"

Liuyun hesitated briefly before lowering his head, avoiding eye contact with the eerie golden eyes.

"I'm Uchiha Liuyun."
