Alex stormed out of the restaurant, head down and jaw clenched so tightly it hurt. Tears blurred her vision, but she refused to let them fall. Not here. Not in front of them.
She wouldn't give them the satisfaction of watching her break.
She didn't know what hurt most. Sierra's slap or Julian's betrayal? Or maybe it was the cruel reality that they'd both made a fool out of her.
She climbed into her car, ignoring Julian's voice shouting her name. Her hands trembled as she gripped the wheel. The engine roared to life, and she hit the gas, tires screeching as she zoomed out of the parking lot.
Why? Just why did he do this?
He was just like everyone else. Betrayal!
Her chest squeezed painfully as memories of Chad and Ellen resurfaced. It brought her back to that night again. To that hotel room.
She was sick of people making mockery of her.
She wasn't angry that he got his memories back.
She was mad because he lied to her face.
