Chapter 12 - Arcane Nexus Capital

I woke up while it was still dark,

guessing it was around 3-4 am. I got

out of the tent, tidied it up, took

out the portable stove, and heated

some water for coffee. Suddenly, I

heard the car door open and Tony got

out, looking like he just woke up.

"How was your sleep?" I asked him as

he sat down next to me.

"It was okay. I almost thought it was

all a dream, but when I woke up and

saw Fenris, I realized everything

really happened," he said, and I just

chuckled and shook my head.

"Want some coffee?" I asked Tony as I

poured the instant coffee into a mug,

waiting for the water to boil. He

just nodded. Before the water boiled,

Fenris and Luna woke up and sat

across from us, still looking sleepy.

So, I made coffee for Fenris and

chocolate drink for Luna.

"Drink this to wake you up, but be

careful, it's hot," I told Fenris and

Luna. I also brought out some bread.

After we finished our coffee, we

decided to leave.

...

We'd been traveling for about 6 hours,

and the sun was getting pretty high.

"Are you guys hungry?" I asked,

glancing at Fenris and Luna in the

rearview mirror. Luna nodded, looking

really hungry.

I took out four self-heating food packs

of Japanese Curry with white rice. You

just add water, and it heats and cooks

itself, so I chose this so we wouldn't

have to stop to eat, saving time. We

still had 600km to go before reaching

the next town, which was still part

of the Stormreach Kingdom.

Tony helped me figure out how to use

the self-heating food packs. The three

of them ate first, and after Tony

finished, we switched, and he drove

so I could eat.

I finished eating when I noticed three

wild boars in the distance, so I told

Tony to stop for a moment. I took out

my sniper rifle, aimed at the wild

boars, and with one shot each, they

fell. Tony drove closer to the boars.

"Are these wild boars or elephants?

Why are they so huge?!" Tony asked as

we got closer.

"The beasts here mostly look like the

animals on Earth, but if they're not

bigger, they have unique features," I

explained to Tony as I put the three

wild boars into my dimensional

storage.

We continued our journey, stopping to

hunt any beasts we encountered. After

8 hours of driving, we decided to stop

for the night since it was getting

dark. While they set up the sleeping

arrangements, I prepared dinner. I

decided to cook Sinigang na Baboy

(Filipino pork sour soup) since it's

quick. The meat was already clean and

cut, so I started boiling it with

aromatics. While the meat was

simmering, I chopped the vegetables

and cooked rice. After 45 minutes, it

was ready.

"Tony, Fenris, Luna, come eat!" I

called out to them. Just then, Tony got

out of the car, having changed into

one of the sets Mr. Rowan gave me.

Fenris also used a rune to clean him

up. After eating, Tony and I sat by

the bonfire, while Luna played on the

handheld console Tony brought.

"I can't believe I'm experiencing

something I used to only read about

or watch," Tony said, shaking his head

in disbelief.

"Me neither, but I'm just thinking,

based on what I remember, my parents

were wearing those two keys for the

hidden box. Does that mean they knew

about Eldorath?" I replied to Tony.

"Have you checked your parents'

belongings? Maybe they left a letter

for you," Tony asked.

"Yeah, when I moved into my parents'

old house, I organized and stored all

their belongings, but I didn't find

any letters or unusual items. If I

hadn't dreamed about the key pendant

that night, I probably wouldn't have

remembered it," I answered him.

"By the way, are you planning to tell

Roy, Enricho, and Michael about this

too?" he asked.

"It depends. Using my Appraisal skill,

I can see their loyalty level. If it's

85 and above, I might tell them. And

with Luna's Eyes of Truth skill, I can

see their true nature," I said.

"Eh? Appraisal skill? Did you use it

on me too? What's my loyalty level?

It's perfect, right?" Tony asked

jokingly.

"97%, so there's still a 3% chance

you'll betray me," I jokingly replied.

Based on the description, if someone's

loyalty is above 90%, they can

exchange their life for you. If it

reaches 99-100%, it means they can

sacrifice themselves without any

hesitation or do whatever you want,

even if you ask them to kill their own

family, as long as their loyalty to

you is higher than to that person.

"So, be careful, I might shoot you in

your sleep and take all your riches!

hahahaha, kidding aside, you know

them well, even though they can be

idiots, they're loyal and reliable,"

he said.

"Yeah, by the way, wanna change jobs?"

I asked him.

"Huh? Why?" he asked, looking

confused.

"Actually, I'm thinking of starting a

company now that I have some capital.

If you want, I'll fund it, and you can

manage it. I'll give you 20% of the

company shares."

"What kind of company?" he asked.

"Your expertise, investment ventures.

I'll fund it for startup, ₱2 billion

for liquid funds and ₱200 million for

startup expenses. You can solely

manage it and build your own team. I

won't interfere," I replied. He

became quiet and thought deeply.

"Haaah!" he sighed deeply, "Okay, sure,

but I don't need 20%. That's too much,

especially since you're providing all

the capital. Salary and CEO benefits

are enough for me, hahaha," he

replied.

"You idiot, it's like you might cry,

huh?! Hahaha, fine, fine. When we get

back, I'll resign and start working on

setting up the company. By the way,

what are you going to name the

company?" he said, chuckling and

joking.

"Arcane Nexus Capital," I said. After

a few more minutes of talking, we

decided to sleep. Before I went to

sleep, I checked my stats.

...

The next day, around 5 am, I started

preparing breakfast. I decided to make

rice porridge with chicken. While I

was getting the ingredients ready,

Tony got out of the car, but I noticed

he didn't look like he had a good

sleep.

"What happened to you, why do you look

so troubled so early in the morning?"

I asked him as he approached.

"Hmm, well, uh, what is it?" he

hesitated.

"What?" I asked again.

"My stomach hurts, I need to poop," he

answered, looking embarrassed.

"Hahahahaha, you just need to take a

dump? Why are you so shy about telling

me? Come on, let's go back to the house

for a bit so you can poop properly," I

said, laughing.

When we got back to Eldorath, I

immediately continued cooking. Fenris

and Luna also woke up, so after I

finished cooking, we ate. After

eating, I decided to check my status.
